Singapore Failed in Oscars 2019 Again.

Once again, our MDA failed to get any Singaporean movies nominated in Oscars 2019. Its a failure of our government even after millions spent onTrump Kim summit, F1 and other projects...

There are exceloent movies like The Wayang Kids, Eric Khoo's masterpiece Ramen Teh, the thriller masterpiece A Land Imagined..among others...

Our government prefer to back and massively support and push rubbish movies like Crazy Rich Asians which got no nominations as well!!!a massive fail!!!

A boring movie about a maid like ROMA, with cheap production in black and white, with actors who cannot act can get multiple nominations while our beautifully shot and acted, brillantly directed A Land Imagined cannot even get 1 nomination.

This is so embarassing and made us the laughing stock of the world where people will know we rather support CRA than our own movies....dont believe me? Next time you travel and stand in immigration, you can hear the sniggers of the immigration officers laughing at us, the overseas people will laugh and pity us when we say we are from Singapore...this massive failure will haunt us forever.

You wrote something quite similar some weeks back in two different threads  which ended up in the Flaming Room.

I simply cannot believe this! After so much support our government gave, the producers of Crazy Rich Asians did not even feature any Singaporean actors at The Golden Globe Awards! Isnt the point of CRA surpose to feature and promote Singapore? Looks like our government once again lack foresight and did not anticipate this snub! Failure one after another. We are the laughing stock of the world. Made used of and cast aside! Who allowed this embarassement to happen!

All these negative issues will as usual be supressed by MSM and the powers that be and goes to show the state Singapore on the international front. We were already the laughing stock on the world stage, with all these latests failures, more people will laugh at us. Do not believe, next time when you travel, just look at the immigration officer when you give him your passport, the officer will snigger and give you look

Why want to start the same story again and again? Why do you like to heat up old food?

If you want to rant about the government with such topics, then better go to stomp or other such sites....

Hollywood is not the arbiter of what is good movie or worth watching,

No one ever claimed Hollywood is fair , or even handed.

Its about promoting what movie that can make the most dollars and cents.

If you asked Singapore actors who appeared in crazy rich Asians,

They said the movie opened up a new path for their careers and provided contacts and connections through agents and auditions for ppssible roles in other big productions.

And that opinions matters  the actors who have to keep auditioning and reading for parts.

You need to meet the casting agent and meet directors and read your lines for roles, it is long and tiring process fir everyine who is an actor or aspiring to be one.
