My family and I do not want to be associated with this Jewel in any way whatsoever! We did not vote for the construction of this and we feel it is a waste of our harf earned tax payers money. We worked so hard for very long hours, endure endless stress and singaporeans hardly can provide food on the table, seeing this jewel make us angry! For who to use? For who to enjoy? Foreigners and the elites in singapore! Who will earn money? The government!

We are boycotting this event and Jewel!

Dont b angry

u can get its souvenirs

if nt from the bicentennial activities

i m nt sure who changed my title, i called this thread an event/ activities for dates initially

even the title of my thread was changed

i initially called this outing/events for date!!

i dont wish to create a thread to help sg govt to promote just a jewel

Dont worry, as usual STB will do a very good job on promoting jewel, i still like one of their previous tagline: "so easy to enjoy, so hard to forget".....hope this jewel is not "so much glittering, so little sparks".

but what jumps into my mind is:

Don't any visitors to Singapore have the first intent to get into the hotel asap?

If I travel overseas, I always want to get rid of my suitcase, check in to the hotel, take a shower, and so on.

Would I spend time to walk through a shopping mall before I head to my hotel with my suitcase with me?

Then, the question is: Who do they want to reach as customers?

Next question: If I travel out of Singapore. Will I plan to go to a shopping mall prior to my flight departure???

For me it looks more like the Changi Group is trying to attract local residents to spend time in shopping at Jewel. If I live here, come back from a short trip, scroll around. or make a weekend trip to that region. It is like having the intention to get a piece of the spending that Singaporeans do now in Orchard road and all other shopping malls in the heartlands.

Am I wrong?

For sure, Jewel will not attract Europeans or Americans to go shopping, because they won't have this shopping culture. In particular not before or after a long haul flight.

Did the Changi Group do a good research???

but tampines and pasir ris are not the most wealthy pop in sg

it is more for departures , go to airport to bid farewell

eg my son is goin to Aust to study, so we have a good dinner before going

Or my good friend is migrating to NZ for good, so we get him some expensive porcelain as gift (if u can scan thru all the retail names in the jewel list)

it is meant for Departing

of cos it could be for welcoming , have a quick bite (as all are hungry when the plane landed at 6pm+ ) and whole group of friends/family rushed to meet after work
they could rush and dine at town too

so too many possibilities, it is up to CAG to manage it
whole sg is trying to blend technology (Smart city) w traditions/culture (one of our terminal is on nongya and peranakans) as well as nature and plants (if u been following the news on sg dev) we r trying more plants growing on rooftops to landscape

I m sure they had done extensive research just like any other mega projects....sg is a major transit hub in this region, they gave up $20 voucher for transit pax to spend and in 2017, at least 700,000 have claim and use the voucher, looking at the price at airport, they probably end up spending much more than that.....yes, ang mo are no longer the big spender in retail, russian, chinese, indonesian have taken over....the main target will be transit pax who have 2 to 3 hours to spent, not enough time for them to venture into city or orchard for shopping....all other current shops in airport are going to face stiff competition which might be a good thing for consumer.

1st attempt by didnt makit too big shoemaker:

Local casual shoe chain Pazzion introduces its very first cafe concept offering coffee and light bites such. Just in case, you know, you get tired from all the shoe-shopping.

For the gays who drink beers, never will i

Homegrown brewery Tiger Beer is introducing its first global flagship store at Jewel, which will offer seasonal

Another sin: msw durian

Four Seasons Durians currently runs the Mao Shan Wang durian-centric cafe at Temple Street (the pongy fruit is added to everything there, including durian sauce on fries and durian buttermilk waffle). Jewel will be its second outlet.

Otah!!!

Sadly only w 10seaters :Local Peranakan family-run otah specialist Lee Wee & Brothers reps one of Singapore’s favourite dishes at Jewel. While their other six outlets islandwide sell a selection of spicy local bites including nasi lemak and satay, this is their first otah-centric outlet.

Anyway my in-laws have the fri nite version (they already got my back covered), i m just trying my luck but seemed like the system got jammed
but i was trying to get some weeekends in case , friends needed

eventually my sis in law said her fren working as a changi staff got her thu nites (she prefer a less crowded timing and me too!) so i didnt bother to redo

but all those frens who followed my facebook to grab their tickets managed to get a weekend slot (they all have to work, so weekdays is out for them)
which is why i shared fast and good info online, but someone claimed i m attention-seeking, they r crazy!!!
worst, the title of this thread, i wanna share good lobangs and good weekends' outings too (FOC!!!) - but i hate to create a separate post for each outings.tours in sg

Went and came back! Huge, multi-storey shopping mall. The range of the products... a lot can already be found in nearby malls.

The highlight is really that waterfall vortex.

I took a picture with the A&W bear but didn't buy. There was a queue but manageable. I went at 10 am and when we left at 1.00 pm, there were more people coming in than going out. So I suggest going early on the 17th of April onwards. 17th is the official opening. It's quite beautiful and futuristic looking with trams zooming high above past the vortex. The volunteer told me that tram is for transporting the passengers between terminals.

Speaking of the MRT, I m puzzle y does the blue line not terminating in changi airport instead of expo.

Having one line to service the airport seems insufficient especially when the direction is to drive traffic there.

it is like a disco esp when the show is about to start!

the only diffce is instead of dancing, pp r dancing and recording using phones

no one will rush all the way to (nt ref to preview all the way) to shop esp (did anyone notice?) so many of goods-of same-nature existed? There is fila, timberland, addidas, nike* etc and another footlocker that sells shoes mentioned earlier

tourists and sporeans will only snatch for

cheap and good: eg http://hapropeesy.com/d_TWlnNnVqSVIvKzhpcVkzOTZaL3VzQT09

Like what superflawless mentioned, many alrdy can easily purchased at the malls in other areas eg uniqlo is everywhere

(But i think the monorails all along existed????between the terminals)

* only Nike allowed some customisation in shoe lace to up the race

Pokemon ....hunger management... Is always good to create Queue as people tends to associate queue with positive quality and price, the psychological effect of afraid being loose out something if i dont join the queue....

A & W.... Yes beside crazy no other words to describe,  perhaps too free nothing else to do? If is really so good,  it wont even fade out 20years ago.

Really dont understand why they simply failed to attract new brands in and instead keep circulating the same old shit....ha...
