There is a new BL series ongoing - 《烟袋斜街10号》. The leads are good looking and it is turning out to be a pretty good series. Nowhere as direct as 上瘾 but great in its own way.

Each new episode comes out every Tuesday evening on weibo and the youtube episode is probably a day later. Enjoy!

Now ep 7 and 8....every tue 2 ep of around 15min each. Read there is only 12 ep. Story so far seems light weighted...mostly about the supposingly str8 and naive writer Liangzhe accepting the love of gay petshop owner Hanghang.

 

I didnt read the novel...but drama serial seems abit rushed. There are light kisses...no showing of action for bedscene...just lie in bed thats all....maybe to avoid govt censorship. The dub abit distracting. Acting ok for newbies...sometimes abit raw....but looks of the leads are really not bad.

 

So far i find the petshop owner Hanghang act abit better....acted by Gongzheng...he is from same DanDong city of Liaoning....ssme as Jingyu of Addicted.

Mentioned b4....but the 1st trailer for this period gay-themed drama is out. Despite the surrounding themes of politics, mystery crimes n revenge...the core is btw the 2 guys....one a young official n another...i suspect is like his adviser? At the end of trailer...they both wear red groom wear...a marriage btw them? U will also see a few senior actors that acted in other drama eg Zhen Huan Zhuan.

yups, they look good and i felt that the voices matched the characters really well. in fact, i was pretty attracted to liangzhe cos of his voice until i realised that it was dubbed lol. that solved for me the mystery of why his voice on weibo vids and the extras sounded so different.

 

turned out that the voice actor 李逍遥 is a veteran in BL radio dramas. http://www.baike.com/wiki/三俗合唱队

 

overall, an enjoyable show so far.. looking forward to the next four episodes.. too short! anyway looking at the sponsor list it seems they have difficulty getting sponsorship for the show.

Jingyu is back on the variety show 約吧大明星.

 

And he sang a solo slower version of the theme song. His voice is quite distinctive. I find it too slow. Recommend set speed to 1.25. 

 

Earlier he was invited to the Dolce & Gabbana in Milan and also did some magazine or fashion shots. 

Well sound abit awkward when i hear him saying this is my Boyhood...haha...i think is a magazine, right?

Ya, glad that Weizhou can sing those 2 songs in Seoul. Think in china, they don't allow him to sing these b'cos related to the Addicted drama.

Not sure which ep of 周一见 will Jingyu appear. Think the recording was on 15 or 16 jun. 周一见 is a show, each week (out on tue) with a celebrity entertaining or doing something for a group of fans.

 

 

Read that Jingyu is well-liked by ppl who worked with him....eg the production team in  約吧大明星 ...not b'cos he's good looking but his char....often described as friendly and abit innocent/child-like. Initially they were afraid being newbie, he won't talk much in the shows....but he proved otherwise. 

 

Some ppl feel that Jingyu in those shows....are just doing fan service....they feel not as successful as Weizhou with his album and overseas concerts....but all these appearance for Jingyu are to slowly build up...experiences and connections....leading to more hosting and acting roles. Each has their area to shine.

Ref to this drama i mentioned b4. The theme song 花开年少 is sang by Han Lei 韩磊. 

Anyway, glad that a well-known singer and also a few senior actors lent support to this gay-themed drama.

Initially they mentioned it's 12 episodes.....now it ended at ep 10....with a cliffhanger where the 2 leads parted ways. But for the novel, they would be together again. 

 

Abit strange b'cos in trailer and cast list they show 胡夏 as a cameo customer at the pet shop but he never appear in the 10 episodes so far. 

 

Anyway the weibo or website for this drama seems to imply that this is not the end....mmm....maybe season 2 or some special episode later?

 

I'll post just ep 10 here. And i like the 2nd half of this clip...starting from 15:15 onwards.

 

The acting by Gongzheng, as the petshop owner Hanghang is really not bad....esp he's just a 19yo newbie in acting. Sometimes his eyes said things or small movements imply some hidden emotions.

 

In short, Liangzhe seems to be a str8 so far (in the novel, at the end, he is gay and accept this relationship)...he's super super naive and dim....he only knows he treasured Hanghang's friendship very much, can accept some kiss as a form of affection....but very uncomfortable with sex btw guys. So here the 2 met up again after some time....Liangzhe decided to just be normal friends. But for Hanghang, he is gay and top, he is willing to be bottom for compromise or maybe even no sex, just the gay relationship....yet the decision by Liangzhe devastated him....

 

I didn't actually read the novel...but for the drama, they already knew each together for 6 months....then they kissed a few times, while though not shown (only shown shirtless in bed), i think they probably have sex with Hanghang being btm or just some form of non-anal fun. So towards the end after some reminder from Liangzhe's sis-in-law, Liangzhe started to worry and decide to backtrack to normal friends....

This is what they posted. The 1st season of this drama ended on 28 Jun. They thank everyone for the support. And mentioned the difficulties in making this drama esp finding the actors and training them from newbies.

But i find it a bit strange....b'cos in trailer and cast list, the singer Hu Xia 胡夏 is mentioned but he never appear in the 10 episodes....either he's edited out in the end or there are extra footage that isn't shown at the end....so like they stop at ep 10 instead of the previously-mentioned 12 episodes. Well, nobody explain this.

They often mention/show 5 youngsters.....besides the 4 young leads....there's one more Fu Xiao 傅晓 who is the singer for the theme song 暧昧孤单.

 

They also have some daily fun and filming clips. Find the actors look younger here (well, they are like 19,20yo).....in the drama, look more mature.

Among them, find Gongzhe (Hanghang) seems more quiet and serious.

Related to 2015 gay drama Counterattackl / 逆袭之爱上情敌.....sometimes i envy the 2 leads Wang Qing and Feng JianYu....they are not affected like Addicted's Weizhou and Jingyu. They had appeared together in quite a no of fan meeting events, variety shows, even did a mini movie together etc. And can show or tease about their "bromance" any time.

Trailer for their latest appearance on some show in early july.

 

Mmmm.....wonder got season 2 of 逆袭? Haven't read anything about actual filming.....

 

Feng JianYu got released a song and the MV is filmed in Singapore.

Related to my previous post. The drama has debut. Should be 1 ep per week...around 10mins long only.

Plot seems abit slow....considering the 2 leads haven't spoken to each other yet. And looks like the girls in this drama would take abit of screen time...bigger roles.

The sound editing abit poor, sometimes got noticeable pauses.

An extra chapter. Read that supposingly after ep 10, Liangzhe would chase back Hanghang, they would be together again. So this is like their daily life later on. Mostly sweet cute stuff. 

The singer Hu Xia finally made an appearance at the start....mmm...insignificant to the storyline....unless to pair up with the fat girl? haha.

really super lousy film, with poor script and bad acting from the actor - should have get other 3 actor whereby the 3 plot have no linkage to it.

i was really mad about watching it - meaningless and slow draggging motion.
