You never did any mistake you regretted in your whole life because you are infallible, correct?

You forgot that the matter went through the police and the university, it was never a hidden thing or swept under the carpet.

I don't say that Lim did nothing wrong, but I think you got it a bit wrong.

It is not the story of someone where it was settled in the secret or never found out.

But I think the girl went overboard.

And what she missed is that justice is not to serve to her satisfaction.

agree with u
btw, name callings, labellings and jealous/hatred of others are all sins, much sinful than actual sins
many assumed they have not sinned
(sometimes punishments came at a later date)
yes, i truly agree that nothing was swept in carpet and 12mth is a record, if he dares to do it again, and the penalty will be much heavier

be practical guys!

He is quite cute, I must say. Quite boyish decent looking chap, I galfriend of his went to the viction to plead on his behalf using "watching too many pornographic contents" as an excuse for him. Hmmmmm.. just imagine him getting lusting over the porno .

The girlfriend also not smart - still want to plead for him.

Which makes me guess that he's probably he's very rich; that's why the gf wants to stick with him, despite the fact that he filmed another girl in the shower.

If he was a poor guy, confirm she will dump him. Girls are that 现实 (realistic/materialistic).

Guest grudges mounting
2 hours ago, Guest Try and see said:

She went already.

But police only gave him a warning, and NUS suspended him for six months.

So she not happy. She felt that both the SPF and NUS didn't do enough to protect the students and didn't punish the guy sufficiently.

Ha ha, the picture from her with that T-Shirt "Femme of the Year" is great. (at her instagram)

I m not sure she will receive that accolade again.

I personally think she just has grudges that a different girl caught away the cute guy as boyfriend.

After contacting campus security and going through CCTV footage, Baey discovered that the perpetrator was a student named Nicholas Lim.

She was friends with both Lim and his girlfriend, who was also a resident of Eusoff Hall.

"You get to live your life like nothing ever happened and I'm the one suffering in fear of going (to the) toilet alone and having flashbacks," she wrote in an Insta story.

We all might find certain punishments or sentences inadequate, but that's how it is, then you have to move on or go into appeal at court but don't take your fight online.

It is in the police statement, if you have issues with that go report to the police with your evidence, otherwise stop plastering the forum with your idiocy.

Male NUS voyeur’s parents are housewife & driver, not ‘influential figures’ as many believed

In the same statement the police also revealed that the perpetrator’s parents are not influential figures, and that the notion that the case or the ruling was affected by these so-called influential parents was categorically untrue.

“Allegations that the man was not prosecuted because he has influential parents are untrue – the Police and AGC did not consider his parents’ background. Such factors are irrelevant considerations. It is unfortunate that such untruths have been put out.

The man’s parents have agreed for it to be disclosed that his father is a driver in the public transport sector and his mother is a housewife.”

This is likely in response to claims made in forums and Facebook comment sections claiming that Lim had been given a lenient sentencing because of said influence.

In fact, the punishment Lim received appeared be consistent with how NUS and the police handled previous cases. This indicates that it is a systemic issue rather than an aberration, or outlier.

dont ever compare Nic small case with a serious case like this hor

this is a monster on a 5yo gal
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/piano-teacher-sexual-assault-5-year-old-student-pleads-guilty-11470900?cid=FBcna&fbclid=IwAR3r22PUCuvtLElbiPP6paIJsMe_0vyOGGUROFrHryXG6p-xYFERsqly0fQ

and he is a teacher (of authority) yet he abused it to tell her to play a piano w gd posture (posture is impt in playing piano), gdness
For using criminal force on the five-year-old girl to outrage her modesty, he could be jailed for up to five years, fined, caned, or given any combination of these punishments.

Agree with those standing on Nicholas side. The punishment has already been decided and meted out. Furthermore, the university has agreed to meet out stiffer punishment for future occurrences after the victim lodge a war cry. Even the police have already stepped in to explain their stance in this case, ie Nicholas has a high chance of rehabilitation.

The victim is merely trying to sought personal revenge because of her own ego, and not because of her modesty. If everyone is to call for the maximum penalty just because of a crime committed against them, our jail will be quite crowded now.

Gym membership can be as low as $30 a month in some places, and you might even get two membership in 2 separate gyms for under $100. Just save a few meals in a month is enough already.

I think his gf sticks to him not because of his money, but because of his looks and his hot body, as well as the fact that he was a naval diver. (A naval diver bf is like a walking trophy... Girls want to be with him, and guys want to be him.)

If I have a naval diver bf, I probably won't care whether he's rich or poor. The great sex would probably compensate any expenses spent on him. But I would be constantly worried that other people would snatch him away or he would fall in love with other people.

It'd seem to me like the investigation officer was the spark that started the whole wildfire. The extent this generation will go to do something in order to right what they think is wrong has really gone too far nowadays.

She's quite a bitchy girl, judging from her social media posts.

Also, her degree is in Communications and New Media.

Sounds pretty rubbishy, like something that can be done part-time in a private school.

If she wants to do something for the right, she can hold demonstrations on Fridays for more action on climate change policies and environmental matters such as the school kids do in Europe.

We are not sure that the investigation officer really told this to her, as she is the one making the point.

Many newspapers rightly pointed out that the punishment meted out by NUS was in line of previous reactions.

But you might have a point that it is a generation thing.

In my opinion the Dean from NUS should stop her now and tell her if she goes on he will suspend her for 3 months for harrassment.

(I don't think she will learn it any other way...)

She will be then the one who can study overseas to finish her studies.

Instead of going havoc on her instagram, she could have just created a group to push for harsher punishments for any such sexual infringement acts at NUS.

Femme fatale of the year ! I will sponser her the new T-shirt.

The biggest mistake was done by the Education Minister to claim that the punishment was inadequate and to speak out at such early stage. Don't think that was a wise move.

Now he got rebutted from police to NUS and the media and looks like a wet poodle.

Yes, she found out it was him from the hostel's CCTV. She recognised him as the boyfriend of one of her hostel friends.

Actually, I don't fully pity Monica. If you look at her social media posts related to the incident, she is extremely vulgar - uses the F word non-stop.

If I were an employer, I definitely won't hire her, and if I have a son, I definitely wouldn't want such a foul-mouthed and ill-bred daughter-in-law.

So I can understand if people find it hard to pity her.

Pity her?  even if in the beginning she could be seen as the "victim" of a very petty thing,  her actions transformed her from victim into victimizer.  Hopefully her school recognizes this. Underneath her sweet looks lies something ugly.  She appears spoiled, pretentious.  Who knows if this is her essence or if she had some motives to seek revenge on the guy. Not a good material to have in the workplace, and even less, in a family.  This episode should be a warning for any naive straight guy who is attracted to her for her pretty face, without realizing that she could turn into a poisonous insect.

She is diffident of her graduation before Nicholas comes back from his suspension? Imagine still having the possibility to bump into him in school in future is very traumatic for the victim you know?

Even if some gays may think Nicholas is hot (which I disagree from his photos), the victim may be a catholic girl or pure lesbian who felt herself being super violated, traumatised and creeped out by him and his actions?

I cannot but suspect she may be a total lesbian from her vibes and vehement actions. Lol speculations only ok.

Yes. I agree shes being very petty. There are many more cases out there that are worse than hers where the victim is gang raped..

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/three-men-gang-rape-unconscious-teenager-duxton-hotel-guilty-11471640?cid=fbcna

If voyeurism (I'm not condoning his actions) should be punishable by 1-2 years jail term, is 20 years enough for rape? Should it be 40 years? Should it be death? What about murderers and serial killers? Why some of them get to live?

If a woman rapes a man nobody bats an eye. But if a man rapes a woman everybody loses their minds. Bad example but if a woman does the same thing to a man? Would it have the same impact? Would people be sympathetic to the man? Obviously no. Because feminism.

If she wants personal justice .. go get a group of girls with strap ons and go rape him or something. Don't go crying all over the internet causing problems for the agencies that has real cases to attend to.

Ps. If she had accepted his punishment. I'd have sympathized her. But now she's just some wailing widow (where's my black widow). Oh yes. We need thanos. We need a plague. We need to rid the world of cancerous people like this..

If if she’s truly angry and serious abt this, she should just state the facts and let them speak for themselves.

This type of girl not smart enough to make it to NUS Law.

She's the type who is only good at following the latest fashion trends, making her bf buy a new pair of shoes for her every week, then wearing those shoes to eat at some cafe, and posting everything on Instagram.

Look at what she is studying: Communications and New Media

I never knew NUS had this type of silly degree course. It sounds like the type of degree course that you can do part-time at Kaplan or SIM, put in very little effort, and still graduate with honours.

Because the police discovered 3 other cases in total on him and maybe his hp was full of other peeping events...

Two other charges of criminal trespass were taken into consideration during his sentencing.

I agree. I have seen her social media posts. She's a very nasty and vindictive girl. Her sentences are filled with a lot of vulgarities, which is quite unbecoming for a university undergraduate. No class, elegance or sense of decorum whatsoever.

Sad that people like her can make it to NUS.

You can be sure that later on in life, when she is working, everytime something happens in the office that she is not happy about, she will slander the person/people who didn't do things her way on her social media channels.

All because she felt that she was successful once with the NUS incident, so she can keep doing it for the rest of her life.

Also, Nicholas's gf already pleaded with her to let the matter rest, but she refused. She just wants to ruin him for good. Very spiteful girl indeed.

If her current bf is smart, he will leave her.

Look the Minister of Education even made the Dean of NUS apologise for the "lenient approach".

We all know very well as young men we do stupid things. Either out of peer pressure or being drunk.

I found the reasoning quite acceptable to say: We are an educational institution and we believe in giving students a second chance.

Sure, there must be limits: I mean if it had been that the guy had touched her in the shower or advanced her while coming out from the shower, then that had been more than minor.

But the line to draw between minor and major will be difficult.

And putting all sexual matters into the major category would be harsh too.

There will be always a sort of injustice in such cases because people will differently asses the event.

Who is going to draw the line?

Yeah, man. Ong YK and Shanmugam have already made their statements and done what they could.

Beyond what has already been dished out in terms of punishment, I don't think NUS or the SPF are going to take any further action against Nicholas, regardless of the online petitions or one company dissolving their partnership with NUS.

I believe if Monica still wants to kick up a fuss, the public will eventually get sick and tired of this attention-seeking girl.

Remember that although S'poreans can feel very strongly about issues (e.g. Oxley Road, General Elections, MRT breakdowns, floods at Orchard Rd, Amos Yee, etc.), they also will move on very quickly to other matters once all the commotion dies down.

By that time, Monica will be left all alone and screaming to herself, like a spoilt little girl in a candy store.
