yup! we all read the news, and many still insisted of sticking to the Old power supplier! Not sure why

I M utterly aghast by the fact that most who submitted the entries , go for Geneco by Seraya Energy???? A big and reputable co. like sembcorp or ....
I didnt pick those with gossips n grey area too
Geneco MUST HAVE GIVEN many freebies , if not none of u will go for such   a co.
mine too provided credit card rebates too

May I ask which one did you choose?

The result won't be conclusive with such poor response.

Looks like most people are lazy to change or lost with too many options. That's why I put up this poll because I'm just as lost. haha

i dont go for looks too, no wonder some asked for g electicity in this forum

hey! But isnt by now , all those who wanna changed, although in diff parts of sg should have converted , why r we still at this topic after the new year??! I think u really shd have done the research more assiduously

even w a poor response, i will only consult people i trusted only!

most of my family members consulted me before they convert....i strongly trusted people who think w depth only

I have already did my quantitative research. Keppel Electric is also my choice.

The poll will answer the qualitative side of matter.

I used Keppel Electric for one of my houses and another short 6-months fixed contract with another supplier. It turned out that Keppel has been the lousier deal. I'm only keeping to Keppel for a while because I am lazy to change. I always prefer fixed rates instead of the floating rates deals. It provides me with more visibility of how my bills are going to turn out.

Before you make up your mind, you might want to visit their road shows and check if they have any more additional charges eg "admin" charges or "sensor installation" charges etc. I was nearly caught unaware by one of them last time. I think it was iSwitch which had all those unnecessary charges.

Are these service providers reliable at all? What experience do they have? What is their track record?

Is it not the govt responsibility? These companies may raise already very high prices we are paying? I am deeply concern about this issue. What is happening to singapore!

Honestly I didn't go all out to seek for the cheapest retailer, not because I'm rich or their offers not attractive, but more on my laziness.

I opted for Tuas Power Supply, for one main reason, i.e. no separate account is required for Tuas Power. Other suppliers need to have a separate account to be linked up with my bank account. Just submitted my application to Tuas staff at the market place, that's all.

All expenses on electricity (by Tuas Power), Gas (by City Gas) & water (by Public Utility Board) remain under one bill, issued by SP Group.

No pain, no change & no hassle. Ha-ha....

I din know there's this option.

I just wanted to avoid those with the fixed monthly admin fee.

Just wondering, so many electricity suppliers, but all connected using same cabel/wiring right? How different suppliers supply their electricity to different unit in a block?

On HWZ forums where they did a poll, the two most popular options are:

- Ohm Energy &

- Geneco

SP wholesale is also another option, no lock in period though you wont know the exact charge every month,

but most users reported about 30% drop in their bills,

good if you are still not sure which retailer to join since you can opt out anytime.

1. Most of the options above are Fixed Rate options.

2. I was looking at options where we can benefit from the VERY SIGNIFICANT drop of oil price.

From a barrel of approximately USD 60 to USD 23

3. From https://savewithtuas.com/residential/our-electricity-plans/

There is an option where it charges 22% off the Regulated Electricity Tariff.

4. From  https://www.ema.gov.sg/Residential_Electricity_Tariffs.aspx

https://www.spgroup.com.sg/what-we-do/billing

One of the main component of "Regulated Electricity Tariff" is fuel cost

With oil falling by 2/3, "Regulated Electricity Tariff" must drop significantly next quarter.

This option may be the "cheapest" assuming cheap oii is the new norm.

However Tuas Power seem to require a long 24 month contract

Sadly, the SP tariffs for the period of 1 Apil to 30 June has already been fixed a long time ago. So any switches now may not let you enjoy any advantages in the oil price decrease.

why not?

you do know SP Wholesale plan is not your normal SP services right?

Wholesale Electricity Price

Besides the regulated tariff, SP Group also offers a non-standard price plan where customers can buy electricity from the wholesale electricity market. This price plan does not have a fixed contract period.

Under this arrangement, the consumer buys electricity at the wholesale electricity price (WEP) which varies every half hour depending on the prevailing demand and supply situation in Singapore's wholesale electricity market.

The WEP would typically rise due to increasing electricity demand and/or outage of generating units. Consumers can refer to the chart below which shows the lowest and highest half-hourly wholesale electricity prices* in 2019. For example, in the month of February 2019, the half-hourly prices ranged between 14.32 cents/kWh and 155.83 cents/kWh.

1.  https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/lower-electricity-bills-as-tariffs-to-fall-15-for-next-3-months

For the period from July 1 to Sept 30 (2020), electricity tariffs will fall by 3.42 cents per kilowatt hour (kwh) compared with the previous quarter, arising from lower energy costs.

ie From 23.02 to 19.6 cents/kwh

2. My current plan is 22% below SP prevailing rate, thus I will be paying 15.288 cents/kwh this quarter.

Always check the most updated prices first before jumping into action: https://www.ohm.sg/price-plans-select

You can do a comparison of the best prices here on the official webpage but please take note of some of the miscellaneous charges stated in the factsheet https://compare.openelectricitymarket.sg/#/pricePlans/list

Current electrical tariffs have dropped significantly (maybe only because of election and they dare not increase) so a discounted tariff bill might be more worthwhile.

Frankly, I don't care who is the cheapest, what I care more is no extra works required by me.

I engaged Tuas Power & rejected Senoko, Keppel & etc. for three reasons,

#1. No necessity to generate a new GIRO account, it seemed to me Tuas Power belongs to PUB,

#2. Monthly paper statement on electricity, gas & water is still carried under one single bill, no change as to previous PUBs billing, neat & clean.

#3. So far never bother me to submit meter reading.

Highly recommend you guys to switch to SP wholesale. Cheapest of all currently though its not fixed, have switched for 6 months and bills have really dropped alot despite increased usage this period. Not taking into account govt rebates, I compare the usage vs rates month by month.

the ONNLY strange thing is i dont find the SP wholesale much cheaper

https://community.whatcard.sg/t/how-you-could-save-money-by-switching-to-sps-wholesale-electricity-rates/861

dun have to find it strange,

the best way is experience it yourself,

i saw many guys over at HWZ recommend it and so i switched to it 6 months ago,

really so much cheaper and best is no contract, so i can switch to others anytime.

there's a guy over at HWZ doing the calculation of rates every month and its indeed the cheapest of all, since 2019.

I thought all of us are under Singapore Power all along before OEM started.

If I haven't switch, I should still be under SP. Why do I still need to SP? Confused.

SP also roll out a Wholesale plan when OEM started.

Simply put, you can say that is their 'OEM' plan.

But take note that their Wholesale plan rates are not fixed every month (can go up or down) but they dun tie you down with any contract (no lock in, can cancel anytime).

Someone in HWZ calculated the rates every month as follow:

Jul 20 - 0.1279

Jun 20 - 0.1170

May 20 - 0.1218

Apr 20 - 0.1274

Mar 20 - 0.1402

Feb 20 - 0.1574

Jan 20 - 0.1526

Dec 19 - 0.1402

Nov 19 - 0.1544

Oct 19 - 0.1613

Basically rates depend on many factors and is quite closely linked to demand for electricity.

You can see that during CB period, the rates drop cos many offices and places are closed.

But that's not the only factor.

I get info from the HWZ forum:

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/eat-drink-man-woman-16/open-electricity-market-oem-part-5-a-6094331.html
