@Since u r here The Malaysian government has declared a nationwide lockdown which indicates no one can enter or exit the country. Tentatively, the lockdown is officiliased  from March 18 2020 to March 31 2020. This will definitely impact a massive lot of Malaysians who cross the causeway to work on a daily basis. Singapore will also be affected in one way or the other. This period of 2 weeks is the standard period of time to contain the virus from within. However,  it may be extended if the condition got worsen. Inside Malaysia,  any form gathering is prohibited, be it religious, social or sport. This will also include workers in  educational institutions, factories and eateries. Personally, I don't think these people will comply to the restriction of movement for the least 2 weeks. The hawkers told me the customers cannot eat in but have to take away. Fortunately, I have bought the necessities and I can cook! :)

I'm referring to the compliance of activity restriction within Malaysia. Many employers and company will lose out if they remain inactive for the quarantined period of 2 weeks. Hence, some may carry out their businesses secretly. As for the lockdown, it is non-negotiable as  the government would just need to shut down the immigration & custom. Below is The Star reporting the Selangor state police enforcing the movement control order.

Covid-19: Selangor cops conduct operations to enforce MCO (updated)

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have urged the people to show maturity and take the current movement control order (MCO) seriously.

This comes following the beginning of operations during the MCO to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said his deputy of (operations/intelligence) Asst Comm Zaldino Zaludin led the operations Wednesday (March 18) night.

He said the ops began at around 6pm with a total of 27 officers and 81 personnel involved in conducting roadblocks and checks on business premises as well as public areas around Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya.

"For now we will advise those who are outside to only go out when necessary or for emergencies.

"During the ops, we also found several businesses, including a car wash, restaurant and vape shop, open for business. We advised them to close immediately or face stern action," he said.

SAC Fadzil said they also found that a temple in Section 8, Shah Alam holding its annual general meeting.

"We advised them to disperse immediately and close the temple," he said.

He added that during checks in Padang Jawa, several individuals were found loitering near a motorcycle shop and at a flat's parking lot.

He said all of them were ordered to disperse and go home.

"We hope people here will take the MCO seriously as this is the best way to curb the spread of the virus.

"During our roadblocks we also found instances of three to four people going out together to get food and such.

"We advised them not to go out in a big group and to remain home as much as possible," he said.

In Cheras, police also took measures to spread awareness on Covid-19 before Maghrib prayers, using loudhailers on patrol cars.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said Bukit Jalil deputy police station chief Sub Insp Raja Zamani Raja Zainal made an announcement at the Talhah Ubaidillah Mosque.

"This initiative is being used at mosques in Cheras to advise the public to stay in their homes and refrain from gatherings or going outside without valid reason.

"Our personnel in patrols cars also got out their loudhailers to tell the public to stay indoors," he said, adding that roadblocks were also set up to ensure people were not going out unnecessarily.

Despite Covid-19 threat, thousands of Muslim pilgrims gather in Indonesia

JAKARTA/KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) Thousands of Muslim pilgrims from across Asia gathered in Indonesia on Wednesday (March 18), despite fears that their meeting could fuel the spread of a coronavirus, just two weeks after a similar event in Malaysia caused more than 500 infections.

Organisers and regional officials said the event in the world's fourth most populous nation had begun, although the regional police chief said he was making a last ditch-effort to persuade organisers to call it off.

"We are more afraid of God," one of the organisers, Mustari Bahranuddin, told Reuters, when asked about the risk of participants spreading the virus at the event in Gowa in Indonesia's province of South Sulawesi.

"Because everyone's human, we fear illnesses, death," he said.

"But there's something more to the body, which is our soul."

Organisers had rejected a formal request from authorities to postpone the gathering, said a regional official, Arifuddin Saeni.

He estimated that 8,695 people had already assembled in Gowa, near the provincial city of Makassar, adding that the numbers would make it hard to put a halt to the proceedings.

"They are still coming," he said. "There are people from Thailand, Arabia, India and the Philippines."

The Malaysian event, held from February 27 to March 1, drew 16,000 followers.

Both gatherings in Indonesia and Malaysia were organised by members of Tablighi Jama'at, a global movement of evangelical Muslims that promotes proselytising, known as dakwah.

About two-thirds of Malaysia’s 790 infections have been traced to the meeting at a mosque complex on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, the capital.

Tiny neighbour Brunei has confirmed 50 infections linked to it, while Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam have also said citizens were infected there.

Organisers in Indonesia were checking pilgrims' temperatures as a precaution, Bahranuddin added. Saeni said health officials had visited the site and asked to monitor participants.

By Wednesday, Indonesia's tally of infections stood at 227, with 19 deaths. The nation of 260 million had run just 1,255 tests by Tuesday. By contrast, South Korea, with a population of a fifth that size, is doing more than 15,000 tests a day.

The Indonesian and Malaysian meetings had been organised by different groups, Bahranuddin said. Even so, he added,"Our purpose is one, even if the name changes, which is how we take religion to other people."

The same social media accounts were used to promote both events. One Facebook account displayed a photograph of a prominent Indian Tablighi cleric, Sheikh Maulana Ibrahim Dewla, leaving Kuala Lumpur airport on Tuesday for the Indonesia event.

Images on the account, Aalmi Tablighi Shura Elders, showed men setting up huge tents at the Indonesia site, and described them as having arrived early from Gulf nations to offer help.

Promotional material for the Indonesian gathering reviewed by Reuters read,"The pleasure of living in this world is only a little, compared to the afterlife." - Reuters

The Malaysian Movement Control Order has been extended until April 14 2020.

Perintah Kawalan Pergerakkan Malaysia dilanjutkan sehingga 14 April 2020.

MCO extended to April 14 (updated)

619040.jpg

PUTRAJAYA: The government has decided to extend the movement control order (MCO) for another two weeks until April 14, says the Prime Minister.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was given a briefing by the National Security Council and Health Ministry and the trend showed new Covid-19 positive cases had spiked.

"The trend is expected to continue for a while before we can see the number of new cases reported decline.

"The government is of the opinion that the movement control order should continue.

"In line with this, the government have decided to extend the MCO until April 14. I am informing you on the extension earlier so that the people can be prepared," he said

Muhyiddin said it was important to stop Covid-19 infections and the strategy can be a success if the people are not exposed to the virus through daily interactions.

As at noon Wednesday, 172 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported, bringing the cumulative cases to 1,796.

The Prime Minister noted that in the past week alone, 673 new cases were reported.

"The public must be.mentally and physically prepared to stay at home for a reasonably longer period of time," he said.

The Prime Minister said those who had left for their respective hometowns need not rush back to Kuala Lumpur or other cities at the end of this week.

Students who are scheduled to return to hostels also need not do so and offices that are closed need not resume operation.

"Please stay calm and don't panic. Even though we have extended the movement control order (MCO), you don't have to unnecessarily stock up on food because the supply is sufficient. I assure you that there is enough food for everybody.

"I know you feel burdened but I don't have a choice. I have to extend the MCO for your own safety," he said.

From Monday (Apr 27) Malaysians who want to return from Singapore will need an entry permit from the Malaysian High Commission, and there will be a maximum of 400 permits issued each day, said Malaysian Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, he confirmed that Malaysians can apply for the permit by emailing the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore at stmsg@mhc.org.sg at least two days before the date they intend to return.

“The Malaysian High Commission has started accepting requests and as of now, it has received 900 requests from Malaysians who are in Singapore,” said Mr Ismail Sabri.

To ensure that the return of Malaysians across the two land border checkpoints, the Woodlands Causeway and Tuas Second Link, are conducted smoothly, he added that authorities will impose a daily cap of 400 entry permits.

Relearn and relearn. Relearn until the cow comes home and back again to square one! We need to put on our thinking cap and read between the lines, this calls for wisdom. Identify the driving factor behind every former Malaysian government. What actually affected these people to do what they did? Government extends conditional MCO until June 9

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/government-extends-conditional-mco-until-june-9

KUALA LUMPUR (May 10): Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced the fourth extension of the movement control order (MCO), currently with loosened restrictions under the conditional MCO (CMCO), for another four weeks from May 13 to June 9.

The period will see several major Malaysian celebrations that usually involve the movement of people, namely Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan Festival and Gawai Day.

However, under the CMCO, Muhyiddin stressed that the restrictions on interstate travel still apply.

"I know a lot of people are sad that they are unable to 'balik kampung' to celebrate Hari Raya with their families. Be patient. When the situation gets a bit better, you can go back to your hometown to visit your parents and relatives," he said during a televised national address today.

"Although we have made many positive progress in the fight against Covid-19, our efforts have not been completely successful. Further steps still need to be taken to combat this outbreak. In terms of public opinion, I also find that most of the rakyat want the government to continue to take appropriate measures to combat the outbreak," he said.

The decision was made after being advised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Security Council (NSC), he said.

During the extended period, Muhyiddin said, visitations among neighbours and family members living in the same state are allowed, with any gatherings to be capped at 20 people at a time.

On interstate travel, he said exceptions will be made for married couples living in different states due to work requirements. As such, they are allowed to cross states to meet their families. Those who want to apply for this extension can do so via the Gerak Malaysia app, or by directly applying for it at the nearest police station.

Nevertheless, he reminded Malaysians to comply with the health standard operating procedures (SOPs) provided by the MoH, such as social distancing, wearing face masks and practising personal hygiene routines by using hand sanitiser during this festive season.

Only four districts out of 1,178 across country still in red zones
According to Muhyiddin, out of the 1,178 districts across the country, 1,112 or 94.4% have now been categorised as green zones, whereas 62 or 5.2% are considered yellow zones. As such, there are only four red zones left or 0.34% of the total districts. A red zone is an area that has recorded over 40 infections.

The four red zone areas are: Mukim Batu, Gombak, Selangor; Zon Batu, Mukim Batu, Kuala Lumpur; Zon Kampung Baharu, Mukim Bandar, Kuala Lumpur; and Mukim Pedas, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.

"For residents of these areas, I advise you to be more careful when leaving the house. Practise social distancing. Wear face masks. Always wash your hands. If possible, reduce outside activities.

"For the people outside of these areas, my first advice is not to visit these areas for now. It's best to avoid being exposed to the Covid-19 outbreak," he said, adding that people in green zone areas should still practise standard health precautions.

During the MCO extension period, Muhyiddin said the government will continue to monitor the progress of the outbreak.

"So, the next few weeks are quite critical to us. The results of the implementation of the CMCO can only be seen in a few weeks' time.

"Therefore, I would like to appeal to everyone to comply with the SOPs that have been set by the government. It's not that difficult. It's simple," he added.

There is obvious stark difference in the legislation that runs along racial issue which lead to the separation of the two states. These times in Malaysia, the indoctrination of the hate ideology has overshadowed the existing racial tension.

Malaysia sees record 17,045 new Covid-19 cases, as Delta variant spreads

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia recorded 17,045 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (July 25), setting a new record for the third consecutive day as the country surpassed one million cumulative cases since the pandemic started.

After recording more than 15,000 cases in each of the previous two days, Malaysia now has 1.013 million Covid-19 cases.

The Klang Valley region - consisting of Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur and its most populous state Selangor - continued to contribute the bulk of infections, collectively recording more than 10,500 cases.

The northern state of Kedah set its own record high after it logged 1,216 cases. Penang too set a new record high of 573 cases.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 numbers have continued to soar, despite it entering a third month of movement restrictions that started in May.

Infections fuelled by more transmissible variants of concern, chiefly the Delta variant first identified in India, have defied a more stringent lockdown introduced on June 1.

Earlier on Friday, the eastern state of Kelantan detected its first case of the Delta variant, involving a woman in Pasir Puteh, reported The Star.

The state’s Housing and Health Committee chairman Izani Husin said the woman had been infected with Covid-19 before.

“I expect that this Delta variant infection is already present in the community and this is very worrying,” he said at a press conference on Sunday.

New infections continued to outpace daily recoveries, which stood at 9,683 on Sunday. Meanwhile, the total number of active cases rose to more than 160,000, continuing to strain the country’s stretched healthcare system.

Nearly 1,000 people are in intensive care units, with more than half of them requiring ventilator support.

However, the country saw its daily death toll dip to 92 on Sunday, after consistently recording more than 100 deaths a day for much of last week. Nearly 8,000 people have died so far from the pandemic.

On Sunday, a group of opposition lawmakers and activists led by lawyer Ambiga Sreenevasan lodged a police report alleging the government had been negligent in managing the Covid-19 crisis.

The group called for the government to be more accountable, saying Health Minister Adham Baba and ministries involved in the country’s pandemic response needed to take the issue seriously.

Meanwhile, the country’s vaccination rate has picked up pace, with nearly half of its eligible adult population having received at least one dose of vaccine as at Saturday.

About 23 per cent of the adult population has been fully inoculated.

The country administered 417,738 doses of vaccine on Saturday, and has consistently inoculated 400,000 people a day for the past few days.

Malaysia is expected to fully inoculate all eligible adults in the Klang Valley by the end of next month. It hopes to vaccinate the rest of the country by the end of October, as more vaccines arrive in the coming months.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has said the authorities are expected to ease Covid-19 restrictions for fully vaccinated people soon.
