Singapore Swimming Complex/Pool

Recommended Posts

Hello, seems like there's no thread that talks about all pools in general in Singapore, some individual pool threads have been closed so I've created this topic.

I am sure many of us cant wait to go back swimming, basking in the sun or maybe more~ Just wondering, it's soon Phase 2, are the swimming complexes gonna open this coming Friday? I haven't seen any announcement by ActiveSG yet~ 🙃

So from 8.45am to 6.30pm, all the pools are only for swimming schools??? WTF!

Seriously does not make sense!

I agree with you. The person who came out with this plan don’t understand how our pool works. Maybe has never swum before.
Weekdays and weekends should be given different considerations.
I hope public pool users will KPKB and hope they will make adjustments along the way.
Majulah!

it's not only all for schools. its also for coaches who conduct their own private classes. and since coaches are only allowed to teach 4 students at a time, it's gonna take twice as long to as before to complete 1 swim class because previously they can teach up to 10 students at a time. weekends it's when coaches actually earn the most. I was a lifeguard for many years and I've seen this day in and day out

Ok guys, so here's the lowdown on safe resumption at the public pools:

1) 0630 - 0845: for seniors only

    0900 - 1800: organised classes

1830 - 2130: for general public (certain pools like OTH, SK, YCK, Jurong and KB will open till 0030)

2) Lane ropes are used for lap swimming. This means all lanes might be continuous lanes.

3) You must make a booking on ActiveSG app. It's a 1-hour slot each time, so 1830 - 1930, 1930 - 2030, 2030 - 2130. Kinda redundant considering it often rains in the evening... ⛈️

4) Toilets and changing rooms are open. A queue system to access changing rooms. Swimmers are encouraged to wipe dry after swimming and get changed without accessing changing rooms.

5) No socialisation beyond swimming. Guess this includes cruising. 😆

6) The booking of slots is also applicable to ActiveSG gyms.

With the current arrangement, it's as good as it's closed. Not able to swim at those times, anyway.

Some swimming is better than no swimming.

but it may not work for all sometimes.

yeah that i can agree with. but at the mean time the only thing we can do is adapt. the reason why they open to public at 6.30pm is probably cause that's where people end work and come for a swim. and based on the evening crowds, its generally working adults.

It's easy for you to say as you are not me. Anyway....such debate is not going anywhere and not changing anything. Life goes on with out without it.

i agree i'm not you. but i've worked as a lifeguard for many years hence it's easier for me to understand why things are done in a certain way

I think so too.

plus like someone said elsewhere, the limit in grosser size makes it difficult for swimming schools / coaches to operate, so hopefully it can make things less difficult for them.

Yeah and the fact you are only allowed a maximum of an hour within the pool, swimming is supposed to be relaxing. I'm not there on a tight schedule.

I see. It is more if the duration of the slots

i thought u cld only swim mornings / noon.

i must say i feel pressured in lap swimming for fear of blocking/ slowing others.

Five swimming complexes will have extended hours — until 12.30am — for the general public to do lap swimming. They are the complexes at Our Tampines Hub, Sengkang, Yio Chu Kang, Jurong Lake and Kallang Basin
