Covid is airborne say 239 scientists from 32 countries

Mark my words: There will be definitely more increase to come. The establishment has long run out of ideas on how to earn money for the country. Investments into China in the early years is stagnating now. Money dumped into India in anticipation of the CECA benefits has already resulted in heavy losses such as that in Singtel/Bharti Airtel losses. So who else can they turn to milk more money to fund their big fat salaries? Ans: The citizens who voted them in, of course.

Gst increase a bit ; mrt/bus fares increase a bit; road tax increase a bit ; electricity bills increase a bit ; water bills increase a bit ; CPF deductions increase a bit; income tax increase a bit ; stamp duties increase a bit ; HDB increase a bit ; COE manipulate a bit.... And voila, even if inflation creeps up to 5% like what happened in the past, nobody would notice and everybody will still remain happily drugged.

And last time, still got people here on this forum think we got so much money to splurge to help those foreigners  through COVID19 crisis. Who do you think is going to pay for it? Hahahahaha...

THE BILL COMES DUE. ALWAYS.

Researchers find coronavirus was circulating in Italy earlier than thought

ROME (Reuters) - The new coronavirus was circulating in Italy in September 2019, a study by the National Cancer Institute (INT) of the Italian city of Milan shows, signaling that it might have spread beyond China earlier than thought.

The World Health Organization has said the new coronavirus and COVID-19, the respiratory disease it causes, were unknown before the outbreak was reported in Wuhan, central China, late last year. But it has said “the possibility that the virus may have silently circulated elsewhere cannot be ruled out.”  The WHO said on Monday it was reviewing the results from Italy and additional information published there at the weekend and was seeking clarification.

Italy’s first COVID-19 patient was detected on Feb. 21 in a small town near Milan, in the northern region of Lombardy.

The Italian researchers’ findings, published by the INT’s scientific magazine Tumori Journal, show 11.6% of 959 healthy volunteers enrolled in a lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 had developed coronavirus antibodies well before February.

A further SARS-CoV-2 antibodies test was carried out by the University of Siena for the same research titled “Unexpected detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the pre-pandemic period in Italy”.

It showed that four cases dating back to the first week of October were positive for antibodies, meaning they had got infected in September, Giovanni Apolone, a co-author of the study, told Reuters.

“This is the main finding: people with no symptoms not only were positive after the serological tests but also had antibodies able to kill the virus,” Apolone said.

“It means that the new coronavirus can circulate among the population for a long time and with a low rate of lethality, not because it is disappearing, only to surge again,” he said.

The WHO said it would contact the paper’s authors “to discuss and arrange for further analyses of available samples and verification of the neutralization results”.

Italian researchers told Reuters in March that they reported a higher than usual number of cases of severe pneumonia and flu in Lombardy in the last quarter of 2019 in a sign that the new coronavirus might have circulated earlier than thought.

Suffice to say that this virus is totally out of control in USA and perhaps in many heavily populated cities and countries. I think that despite our best attempts I think there’re only 3 possible outcomes in the future:

1. Vaccine and people having the antibodies who had the virus and survived it.
2. People who caught it and are killed by it (as dictated by their genetics and biological composition, aka ‘Evolution Theory’)

3. The lucky few that has yet to be exposed to the virus but will eventually encounter it within the next 2-3 years. Their morality rate will be dependent on the level of medical care in the country they reside in, and on the particular strains of the virus.

IOW, this virus is like a physical fitness test where everyone will have to go through, and our chance is really just 50-50. I honestly doubt anyone can really hide from it forever, especially since covid-20 or covid-21 is probably scheduled for later.

And if, it’s God’s will (rapture or tribulation), or whether it’s Gaia’s sweet revenge on the human race to cleanse Earth, then perhaps what we really need to do is to make peace with ourselves in our own way, asap.

OK maybe you’ll say that I’m too fatalistic but at least I’m still realistic in a way.

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine approved by Singapore, first shipment expected by end-December

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/singapore-approves-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine-phase-3-13769570

"Vaccinations will be free for all Singaporeans as well as long-term residents currently in Singapore, he added."

LOL! Nothing ever comes free. Ultimately, someone has to pay for those Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Money do not grow on trees. So, who is going to pay for those "long term residents"? Increase the taxes of the "long-term residents"? Make "long-term residents" pay CPF? Make every one of those foreigners who are trying to enter Singapore on hearing this news pay more for their COVID-tests on entry from today onwards?

Or is it going to be hidden in another hike in our Medishield premiums to be paid by Singaporeans? The answer is obvious, isn't it?

LOL... To those who think that  our extension of goodwill to pay this for the foreign workers and pay that for the foreign workers will even be appreciated by them, here's a piece of news for you to enjoy.

Bangladeshi migrant worker sues Singapore employer for virus 'imprisonment'

A Bangladeshi migrant worker is suing his ex-employer and dormitory operator in Singapore, accusing them of "false imprisonment" after he was locked in his room during a coronavirus outbreak.

The majority of Singapore's more than 58,000 cases have been among low-paid migrants living in crowded dormitories, sparking criticism of the affluent city-state's treatment of its foreign workforce.

Construction worker Rahman Mohammad Hasibur filed a claim last week for Sg$215,000 ($163,000) in damages, according to documents submitted in court and seen by AFP.

Staff at his dormitory, run by Joylicious Management, had locked Hasibur and up to 20 other workers in their room on April 19, after one of their roommates was thought to have contracted the virus and was transferred to a medical facility.

During this time they were only able to use the toilet by calling a guard to come and escort them. Some of the men were running fevers and the room was hot and poorly ventilated, the documents said.

After Hasibur reached out to TWC2, a NGO that supports migrants, the workers were transferred to a new room with an attached toilet which was also locked from the outside.

In total, they were confined for 43 hours.

"The plaintiff and his fellow migrant workers were robbed of their dignity and deprived of their fundamental human rights during the false imprisonment," Hasibur's claim says.

Officials found the dormitory operator had confined the workers with consent from their employer, V. Spec Engineering & Supplies, and imposed a hiring freeze on the company.

Hasibur, who has since returned to Bangladesh, alleged the actions of his employer and the dorm operator put him and his roommates at risk of contracting the virus and caused them emotional distress.

"Should I succeed in my action, I hope that it will deter other employers and dormitory operators from similar actions towards their employees and residents in their care," Hasibur said in a statement.

A representative at Joylicious declined to comment when contacted by AFP while V. Spec has not responded to emailed requests for comment.

Foreign workers also pay tax dont forget that guys!

Are you sure? Income of less than $20,000 or $1,666 each month is tax free. Do you think those foreign workers are earning more than $1,666 each month? If not, no taxes needs to be paid. And even if they pay taxes, you think they pay Sg$215,000  in taxes?  This incidence of the Bangladeshi migrant worker suing Singapore employer for virus 'imprisonment' just goes to show they are here to dig for gold. No amount of whitewashing by all those activists will prove anything else.

Now you know why no foreign workers were asking for an apology from Jo Teo? Cos apologies comes cheap, when the money can come so much easier by suing!

This Korean guy would be a student in hospitality doing his attachment in hotel,  if pay is $1000 a month, which sporean dare to say u will want to work?

Likewise the other Malaysian worker I believe the pay are not fantastic and long hour involve, anyone sporean want to apply?

I am more concern about all the imported cases,  what are the job that are so crucial that they must come in during this period especially from some of the worst hit countries. Look at Taiwan,  everyday their imported cases is only 2 or 3 compare to our 20, 30 cases. They also have stop the import of maids.

He could be studying in Korea and have his oversea attachment in SG. There are lots of Asean students having their industrial attachment in SG. It give them that international exposure while the hotel can employ them to fill up vacancy that no sporean like to do.

If he is in hotel management, basically all aspects of the hotel operation including F & B,  he will need to know.

Actually a lot of hotels just want the manpower,  once they come over,  they may not be doing something that is very related to their study.

Let's get back to the main topic,  if u r interested to know more about hotel operation and attachment,  can pm me.
