How a 1940s psychology study sparked the modern gay rights movement

In the 1940s, psychiatrists labeled homosexuality as a mental disorder. That's because scientists don't do research in a cultural vacuum. They had biases and prejudices that impaired their judgment. UCLA's Dr. Evelyn Hooker sought to change that with her groundbreaking study that proved homosexuals were not ill and in need of a cure. This research made it all the way to the Supreme Court and helped change #gay life forever.

The greatness of Evelyn Hooker's work is comparable to the greatness of the early astronomy scientists that busted the myth that the earth is the center of the universe, but determined that instead it is a planet turning around the sun.  Like the Bible and other holy books reveal the ignorance of their writers who believed in a flat earth,  they also reveal their ignorance in their statement that homosexuality is an abomination.
