Hi, I encountered similar scenario where ā€œoffenderā€ sent an email using my account to meĀ threatening to expose my comp content in exchange for Bitcoin payment.Ā I checked with my domain service provider who advised me that itā€™s a malware. So I ran my antivirus program to clean up my comp and I stopped receiving such email thereafter.Ā

Be cool, like a breeze...

Good work. Don't even be panicking too much. And change your password often. There are always ways to get your password and many sites are hacked. Not all of them you get to heard about. Banks get hacked quite a bit but you will ALMOST never heard of it. Why? If you place your money in that bank and you find that bank gets hacked often and success to get away with it, you want to deposit more money into that bank?

Ā

So ya.. change your password and move on guys. That is the least you can do and watch what site you go to and setup membership or accounts. No site is 100% safe. Man made security. Another man will break it. :P

Yup. The hacker gave himself away when he threatened to expose my ā€œpornā€ materials in my laptop and immediately I knew he was bullshitting since I got none in there lol. He was merely deployingĀ psychological strategyĀ assuming most guys will possess porn materials. Those who got trapped will end up acceding to his bidding and his Bitcoin account grows gloriously.Ā

Yup.. computer hacking is NOT ALL like what you see in hi tech movie of hacking.. The best way to get to you is thru HUMAN NATURE and knowing how to 'hack' your mind.

Yes, now the method of Phishing is by "Threatening".

They prey on unsuspecting victims! Last time they preyed on greedy and lonely people!Ā

Just keep your cool before you gave in to the SCAM!!! Avoid respondingĀ unknown calls and massages if you can!

I got such email sometimes ago after i haveĀ no choice but have to use paypal to make payment. Thereafter I would receive such same email. I ignore them totally but of course felt I concerned about it. Decided to stop using paypal and also reset my laptop to factory settingĀ and thereafter no more such email.Ā Ā

  • 3 weeks later...

There are sites to check whether your email was hacked or victim of a hacking situation. Because some email passwords are openly listed in some sites.Ā At least you know if one of your emails has an issue...
