Legal or Illegal wearing longer boxer in public in Singapore?

DeMarko

Recommended Posts

Wearing a pair of underwear in public is illegal.

What about a pair of long boxer brief whereby the genital is not exposed, that is, fully covered with a pair of g-string or thong or jocks inside, is it

Legal or Illegal ?

the issue isnt the underwear, it is the “clad in such a manner as to offend public decency or order”

Quote

Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act

Appearing nude in public or private place
27A.—(1)  Any person who appears nude —
(a) in a public place; or
(b) in a private place and is exposed to public view,
shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to both.
[12/96]
(2)  For the purpose of this section, the reference to a person appearing nude includes a person who is clad in such a manner as to offend against public decency or order.

So it can be subjective on the definition of "public decency"

It is arguably as long your underwear isn't translucent or thin to show the cock shape, you might be able to get a pass on it. for example some cyclists worn thighs with nothing underneath

I strongly suggest you don't do it.  Otherwise your picture will appear all over the internet, mothership, yahoo and Singapore news-site trying to figure who the person was, where he stays and the next thing is someone will be knocking on your door to invite you for "coffee" at the police station.  People used to say, less is more, but we also do not want to show "more" than what is necessary in public.

Guest Yakiniku,

My personal experience is that Filipino guys and Prc men do step out into the public areas in Singapore at night in their boxers with buttoned fly becos that is what they do in their home country at night just to buy cigarettes or supper at night.

Filipinos will do it in their boxers in day time around where they stay in daytime on their off days in the weekdays.

Geylang housing areas especially.

As to my knowledge and best observation, in Singapore there is no law that disallows you to walk in "longer" boxer shorts as long as you don't appear nude or expose your genitals openly. From the dress code in Singapore I am not sure whether there is such a thing as "underdressed" probably the word "overdressed" applies more often in the local context.

Singapore doesn't have a rule also that you need to dress neatly if visiting a government board (or such rules for wearing a sarong like in Malaysia (LOL).

However, if your sole attention is causing attraction and inviting others for sexual activity, then maybe it would be more suitable to wear a T-Shirt with the words

I'm gay and always horny!  [Please don't wonder if both seats next to you in the MRT would remain empty].

There are plenty of shops where you can get such T-shirts done.

Im wearing my UA tight boxer undies it pass out as short tight as I pair it with my stringers. No one one know I just wear my undies out due to my build people thought is gym tight short. I pair with my thick silicone donut as my stringer camouflage a bit of my bulge.

It’s very hard to say what constitutes indecent dress nowadays isn’t it? There are full length tights you can buy from a legit sportswear shop that I would consider far sexier than boxer shorts made specifically as underwear, but the likelihood of being rejected from entering a gym or other public place in boxer shorts would be much higher. I believe the defining line is always ‘do you look good in it to most people’ If you have amazing glutes and quads made for wearing spandex 24/7 then I doubt anyone will question your motives, mainly because they’ll be happily staring at your perfect buttocks as you stand a couple of steps above them on the MRT escalator. Even (and especially) the older aunties wouldn’t mind, after years of sharing a bed with a likely paunchy ah pek and seeing him standing in their shared bathroom with his back to her every morning, coaxing a few drops of piss  from his limp member while grunting unhappily, she probably secretly desires that illicit jolt of eroticism in her life too. And as a gay man, I can tell you nothing makes my day quite like a gorgeous guy who knows he has a body and dresses like he’s putting it up for sale.

Otherwise, put on some proper trousers, you pervert.

You should know better than to listen to @singaliar after all the misleading statements and blatant lies that he has spread on this forum!

There is a law in Singapore which can be used against guys wearing skimpy attire in Singapore: Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act PART IV VAGRANCY

Rogues and vagabonds
27.—(1)  Every person —

c wilfully exposing to view, in any street, road, highway or public place, any obscene print, picture or other indecent exhibition;
d wilfully, openly, lewdly and obscenely exposing his person in any street, road or public highway, or in the view thereof, or in any place of public resort, with intent to insult any female;

shall be deemed to be a rogue and vagabond within the meaning of this Part and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to both.

Have I said anything wrong?

No! not at all.

As to my knowledge and best observation, in Singapore there is no law that disallows you to walk in "longer" boxer shorts as long as you don't appear nude or expose your genitals openly.

What is said exactly confirms the Section 27 (1) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance).

A) Surely, there is no law that forbids wearing boxer shorts in public in Singapore.

The words Indecent exhibition have a certain meaning:

Indecent exhibition is defined as exhibiting the genitals with the intention of causing alarm or distress, it is an offence of ‘specific intent’ which means that in order to qualify as indecent exhibition it must be demonstrable that the act was done intentionally. However, flashing one's underwear, no matter how revealing or skimpy, is usually not considered indecent exhibition for purposes of the law.

Drawing the lines might be difficult if the underwear or a white boxer short that is wet and exposes the erected genitals or if any holes in the underwear are bigger than the complete textile. That can be summed up as indecent exhibition also. @DeMarko should be aware.

Newer legislation talks of indecent exposure and no longer uses the archaic words "indecent exhibition".

The section in paragraph d of 27 (1) refers to indecent exhibition, which is the old term for exposing genitals (from the 1824 English Vagrancy Act).

It serves nothing just to jump on some words like "indecent" and draw the wrong conclusions.

B)

For your info: the second highlighted paragraph d of section 27 (1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance).

d wilfully, openly, lewdly and obscenely exposing his person in any street, road or public highway, or in the view thereof, or in any place of public resort, with intent to insult any female;

requires the intent to insult a female. In that sense most probably DeMarko would not be  a catch as he surely doesn't intent to attract women.

The statute only applies if DeMarko has the intent to insult any female. It does not apply to insult any male.

He must have had the will to insult females by wearing his exposing genitals obscenely.

Dress Code

Visitors should be properly attired. Visitors dressed in singlets, shorts, slippers or other inappropriate attire may be not allowed from entering the Supreme Court.

Examples of appropriate dressing include smart casual wear, office wear and traditional dress (please see illustrations below). Visitors who are dressed in a manner that is indecent or offensive, may be prohibited from entering the courthouse.

So much for trusting members and so much for claiming that you have said nothing wrong. Only fools will believe in anything you say nowadays after we see how you propagate lies all over this forum, including this thread here. Readers beware! Trust the words of @singaliar at your own peril!

How silly and trolling can someone be to post something as above.

A) As at any material time @DeMarko DeMarko was talking of walking with his skimpy boxer shorts into the Supreme Court.

And just for your info: What you posted here is a mere dress code but not a law that disallows DeMarko to walk around in boxer shorts in public...

Discos, The Esplanade Theatre, concert hall or other venues or Trade shows have certain dress codes too.

b) Also note  The Supreme Court is not a Government Board but the Judiciary.

Thanks for demonstrating again your limited intellectual abilities...

Yawnz.... As usual, trying to do an escape with word play after throwing out misleading statements.

Did you mention Singapore "laws" or Singapore "rules" on the dress codes in government boards? And now you are retreating to talk about Singapore "laws"?

And you are also denying that the Supreme Court is a government board?? Take a look at the definition of a government board herehttps://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/governmental-board

Governmental Board means the government of any nation or state or any political subdivision thereof, or any supranational body or authority, or any agency, board, commission, department or instrumentality of any of the foregoing, or any court, tribunal, central bank or arbitrator.

Who has limited intellectual abilities now? And you still want to pretend to be intelligent in any way?

Imagine someone reading your post and walked into the Supreme Courts wearing a pair of bikini shorts after seeing your statements that government boards had no rulings on dress codes.. Really goes to prove that you are a loser liar. Take responsible for your own words, you foreign trash!

Readers beware! Not all members comes with good intentions. Believe in any of @singaliar's post at your own peril.

Word splitting....

You know yourself best what is a  Government Board in Singapore !

No need to come with a definition that applies to the USA.

Surely, the Supreme Court is not a Government Board .

Everybody knows that the Supreme Court is part of the judiciary but not the executive or government.

Shocking to see what little knowledge you have.

I wrote Government Board in my post! Everybody in Singapore knows what a Government Board in the Singapore context is.

I feel even sorrier for you if you don't even know what is the meaning of a government board in general, and has to resort to Wikipedia to find out. Even any other Government office will require visitors to be appropriately dresses before they are allowed to enter. Try going in with some bikini shorts and see if you will be escorted out.

You are as what they have called you: a foreign trash @singaliar.

The wikipedia was just a help for you to check whether you would find any arm of the judiciary listed under a Government board.  It was meant for your self check as you demonstrated lack of knowledge what a government board is. I don't need wikipedia to know what a government board is. but you do.

Regarding the wear of women at government boards:

I am not sure when you last time left your house or "facility" but some female visitor's attire can come very close to "bikini" wear.... And not all guys would wear long pants when visiting government boards. At LTA you can even see guys in singlet, short pants and slippers.

I must assume you have not been to any government board in Singapore for a long time ...
