  1. recently i saw Dr Cao Taige at the National Skin Centre( NSC ). what he prescribed me> is the only thing that NSC will prescribe to u if u have MPHL.

  2. i will be specific, this is what is prescribed me: https://www.pharmacy.nhg.com.sg/productCatalogue/productDetails.aspx?productId=3208&subsubcatid=12

  3. i asked him to look at my scalp & give me a clinical diagnosis, he inspected & said, "Don't worry, its not that bad." https://www.nsc.com.sg/Patient-Guide/Health-Library/Types of Skin Conditions/Pages/Hair-Loss.aspx
    https://www.nsc.com.sg/Patient-Guide/Health-Library/List-of-Dermatological-Drugs/Pages/Minoxidil-(Topical).aspx

  4. have i tried other methods?
    YES, 3 companies:
    YUN NAM,
    P.H.S. at plaza sing, &
    https://www.beechooladies.com.sg

YUN NAM is a scam. P.H.S. is good but expensive =( & the one at clementi, is not clinically proven so i think its a waste of money.

*Pls consult a Doctor, this is my sharing from a doctor's visit*

Minoxidi, the ingredient in Growell, is virtually the only effective medication ingredient to apply to stop male pattern baldness in young people. (Well, I believe it has now increased the age range up to 65). It takes about three weeks of application before it starts to be effective. Thereafter you have to use it every day, twice a day. With me it stopped hair loss on the crown of the head and then my barber told me he could see new hair growing. For years it was only marketed as Rogaine or Regaine. That also has a foam version which is easier to apply. Always get the 5% strength. I assume the patent now allows other companies like Growell to market it. Several pharmacies in Singapore supply it and you do not require a prescription. But prices differ considerably so always compare them before purchasing.

The are two things you have to be concerned about. First is you have to keep using it. Stop, and your hair will soon slowly begin to fall out again. So over the years it becomes expensive. After trying one bottle, if you are comfortable with it, try to find the 6 or 12 packs since they are heavily discounted. Second is that when you put it on at night, over time it will leave a yellowish stain on your pillow. I am told there is now a Minoxidil pill but have never come across it.

As long as your doctor has recommended it, you will have no problems using Minoxidil. But medical advice is important in advance of use since it may not be advisable for those with certain medical conditions.

The most effective hair loss treatment is hair transplant.

There are some caveats though:

- There must be enough hair on the sides to provide the ones to fill in the bold place.

- These hairs on the side may never fall off.  So if a bold place is filled with them and the hairs around keep falling off,  it can lead to funny results later in life. So hair transplant is best done later in life when there is enough hair left to assure success.

Hair transplant is a safe outpatient procedure done under some sedation.  It is expensive because it is labor intensive, and it is advisable to have it done by an experienced surgeon.
