I mostly do a upper/ lower body split, and mostly able to do at least twice a week. If I can make it for the third day exercise I'll do full body. This can "easily" be done for now since I'm currently on a lookout. But I don't know if I can be that disciplined in the future 😅 Edited November 24, 2025 by sum1outhere_03 Quote Will you be my valentine's?
Derren
Twice a day? Wow! Third session? Gee! How many times a week do you do that? You are training like a seasoned bodybuilder who spend almost the entire day in the gym everyday! For most of us who are casual lifters, it's probably diminishing returns though. And like you wondered, how sustainable is it?

Ah I see Total body is probably the optimal for twice a week. Each major muscle group gets hit twice a week. For 3 times, Upper Lower and Total works great! sum1outhere_03

I'll alternate the workout sets (e.g if I'm not doing shoulders this round I'll do for the next and swap with another workout). Quote Will you be my valentine's? bluerunner
As I age, I noticed that I need more time to recover. Instead of gymming consecutively, I gym-rest-gym or gym-do-something-else-gym. Doing the same exercise consecutively is too much for uncle’s body now. 😖
