LONDON, Aug 19 (Reuters) - OnlyFans, the online subscription platform known for adult content, will prohibit users from posting any material containing "sexually explicit conduct," the company said on Thursday.

The London-based company said in a statement that the changes, which will go into effect Oct. 1, were to comply with the requests of its banking partners and payment providers.

"In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines," OnlyFans said.

It said it would allow creators to post content containing nudity if it was consistent with OnlyFans' policies.

The site, which was founded in 2016 and has boomed in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, says it has 130 million users.

OnlyFans also this week said it was launching a new streaming platform and app called OFTV on which creators can share video content on topics such as fitness, cooking, comedy and music.

OnlyFans Creators React to Site’s Porn Ban With Anger, Confusion

OnlyFans is pulling the rug out from under the sex workers and performers who turned it into a billion-dollar business. And those who have relied on OnlyFans as their key source of income are furious at the about-face.

As of Oct. 1, OnlyFans will ban all photos and videos depicting “sexually explicit conduct,” the company said in a statement Thursday. “In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”

OnlyFans, which calls itself “a subscription social platform revolutionizing creator and fan relationships,” said the “changes are to comply with the requests of our banking partners and payout providers.”

“onlyfans is just another example of how these large platforms use sex workers to build their audience then pull support once they no longer deem them beneficial,” @JennaLynnMeowri, a Twitch streamer who has accounts on OnlyFans, YouTube and other platforms, wrote on Twitter.

Another platform that will go down like Yahoo, Tumblr, Craiglist, Pornhub and Xtube.

The best option is just transfer to JFF or Just For Fans, at least thats founded by actual sex workers. Sex work is still work, hence New platform and New modes of Payment can be used . People will still Find ways.

I'm really turned-on if both heads (the head above and the head below) are both functioning well

OnlyFans reverses decision to ban pornography

‘OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators,’ the company said.

Online content subscription firm OnlyFans backtracked Wednesday on its decision to ban "sexually explicit" content, amid protests by adult content creators who rely on the company for their livelihoods.

"We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change," the company said in a statement.

"Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard," it added. "OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators."

The platform announced last Thursday that it would be banning pornography from its platform from October 1 to “comply with the requests of our banking partners and payout providers.” It has since come under fire for cutting loose the adult content creators that made the platform popular.

"Dear Sex Workers, The OnlyFans community would not be what it is today without you," the company tweeted on Saturday. "We are working around the clock to come up with solutions."
