Best curry puff

Recommended Posts

  • begleitung changed the title to Best curry puff

Honestly, I am very satisfied with Old Chang Kee curry puff. It has so much ingredients, hard-boiled egg, as well big chunks of chicken and potato. The doughy exterior is also tasty, with the edges being crispy at times. To beat Old Chang Kee in taste is probably not easy... And it is also inexpensive at 1.60 apiece

Same...I think OCK brand resonates well with Singaporeans even though it appears very commercialised.

The other one I could think of is Tip Top, there's a branch at Bugis Junction. However, I still think OCK trumps over it in terms of flavour and quality.

But I love how sometimes one could be pleasantly surprised by those nondescript stalls where a quaint old macik hand makes her curry puffs. Some are so so so much better in taste, but they are usually made smaller is portions.

I am more interested in this, despite smaller in size.

the first one is the amk one. They have yam with gingko filling which i thought was very special.

i wonder if the killiney is any good. Or the goöden mile one.

Haha I'm not a big curry puff fan... If you're really that interested, go and out try out all the recommendations and let us know afterwards which are good lol

If I do have craving for it, tiptop is the one I will go.

Does anyone know of any place selling curry puff where the filling is purely bean sprouts? I bet most members here have never eaten that before but it’s something which I hope to eat again

But not sure if baked = much healthier, in the context of these type of puffs... I just had a cheesy mushroom puff from Prima Deli and it was incredibly oily

Not only oily...they taste weird too. A far cry from those from Polar Puffs. Polar's chicken pies are simply awesome.

I remember eating one filled with bean sprouts at 1 of the hawker in ABC market.

1. Selera Curry Puff - McKenzie Road (coffee shop opp the OCK branch/cafe at same location)

2. Eunos Hawker Centre - middle unit along the Halal stores. Uncle sells mainly 50c curry or sardine puffs.

3. Aljunied Hawker Centre - There are 3 Halal stores selling the puffs.

Try them out if you pass by these.
