Haha... War time definitely foreigner will be the first to run back, they are here only to earn as much as they can and definitely not to risk their life here.

Back to the topic,  i dont believe other SEA countries dont have,  is just like covid, first reported was SG,  then Malaysia,  Thailand and finally Indonesia. It would be tough for those in the religious countries to explain how they got infected since monkeypox is associated mostly with MSM.

What MSM?

Methylsulfonylmethane, or MSM, is a naturally occurring compound in foods such as fresh vegetables, meat, and dairy products. So stop eating less of those food, OK?

Well as a Singaporean gay man, I am very very glad that, thus far (knock on wood), none of the infected are Singaporeans.

Why?

I don't know.

When it comes to diseases, who wants to be #1?

Do you?

We shouldn't ostracised others but surely we can find comfort that, despite our gallavanting ways (yes even during Covid times), we do not have an infected amongst us.

Take comfort, can, right? Or is that still considered bias? "eyes rolling"

Keep up the good work, my fellow Singaporeans.

Abstain or practice safe social distancing.

Whatever you have been doing thus far, seems to be working.

Let's keep this Monkeypox away from us, for as long as we can.

Amitabha.

For all we know, Malaysian monkeypox got it from a Singaporean flight stewards who got it from London gay sauna patrons.

The disease does not discriminate and aytach labels, superior/inferior, better /lesser, Singapore(better)/Malaysian(lesser somehow).

It is human who pigeonholes and attach superior/ inferior values.

Idiotic, disguised racist, Hitler reborn.

Wooo..."For all we know"

So you admit you don't know lah.

Then please, take several seats and keep quiet.

You want to project your own racism onto others, don't do it to me.

Interesting....

Another Brit.

So Great Britain seems to be an epicentre.

I do remember the 1st case in 2022 was from there.

Any ideas how they got it?

Immigrants to the UK?

Or the Brits going to another Continent?

So I googled:

"

How did monkeypox come to UK?

2019. In December 2019, an individual in England was confirmed to have monkeypox after recently travelling from Nigeria to the UK."

But that was 2019..... Took a while to explode in the UK.

The point that bothers me most at the discussion here so far is the lack of empathy and some sort of group understanding on monkeypox.

The vast majority of infected are gays.

Again, people are misusing this topic to post their hatred against foreigners and xenophobic view.

Surely, the guys did not intend to catch monkeypox, nor probably did they intend to spread the disease.

I just miss some understanding for the affected guys by the posters in this thread.

You should all know that monkeypox comes like an unwanted Coming Out for those affected men.

We do not know their situation, but most probably they are not out at work etc.

The infection might also cause job losses or a need to resign from a current job due to the office gossip, loss of authority etc.

This might be different from the guys who caught it overseas (like Europe or US), who are openly out and in a totally different situation.

Let's behave a bit more mature, non xenophobic and look at the issue from the personal perspective of the infected also.

Second local monkeypox case reported in Singapore

Published 3 Hours Ago (=14 July 2022) Straits Times

SINGAPORE - The Republic detected its second local case of monkeypox on Wednesday (July 13), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said, bringing the total number of cases reported here to five.

In an update on its website on Wednesday night, MOH said the patient is a 48-year-old British man residing in Singapore, who tested positive for monkeypox on Wednesday.

He is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and his condition is stable.

He had developed rashes in the perianal region - the area surrounding the anus - on July 6 and had a fever on Monday (July 11).

He sought medical attention on Wednesday and was admitted to NCID. MOH said contact tracing is ongoing. It said the case is not linked to any of the previously reported monkeypox cases here.

The fourth case, an imported infection reported on July 8, was a 30-year-old male Indian national who lives in Singapore and recently returned from Germany.

He developed a rash in the groin area at the end of last month and sought medical care after coming down with a fever.

The previous local case was a 45-year-old Malaysian man residing in Singapore, who developed lower abdomen skin lesions on June 30.

He subsequently experienced fatigue and swollen lymph nodes, before developing a sore throat and fever. All close contacts of this local case were placed on a 21-day quarantine.

None of the cases reported here so far is linked.

Monkeypox is a rare viral disease, with those infected usually experiencing fever, headache, muscle ache, backache, swollen lymph nodes, chills, lethargy and skin rash.

Most patients recover within two to three weeks, MOH had said previously, though it noted that young children, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals are among those at higher risk of severe illness.

Some 9,200 cases of monkeypox have been reported across 63 countries this year, the World Health Organisation said on Tuesday.

The articles do not say how the guys caught it.

For the latest case, we do not know whether he travelled overseas in the past 21 - 30 days, whether he had fun with a visitor to Singapore, someone residing here or he met a moneyboy from anywhere etc etc.

So let's stop to speculate.

Better take your precautions... instead of turning this thread to a hot gossip forum.

Could have just said rashes in the area surrounding the anus....

Not 100 %, i think it was like 60 over % of those kena either gay or bi, there are also woman kena because of husband. Not necessary sex,  as long as got prolong body contact, there is a chance to kena.

Yeap, quite difficult to explain 21 days quarantine or MC especially now that covid does not need to be quarantine anymore. With covid,  people already lie about their whereabouts, with this probably even worse.

The case from 2019 cannot be linked to the recent spread.

To feed your curiosity on the first case in the UK:

It is all public and recorded in the UK NHS website...

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/monkeypox-cases-confirmed-in-england-latest-updates

7 May 2022

The first known case was detected in the beginning of May 2022, in a British resident who had travelled to Lagos and Delta State in Nigeria,[24] in areas where monkeypox is considered to be an endemic disease. The person developed a rash on 29 April while in Nigeria and flew back to the United Kingdom, arriving on 4 May,[25] and presented to hospital later the same day. Monkeypox infection was immediately suspected, and the patient was hospitalised at Guy's Hospital[25] and isolated, then tested positive for the virus on 6 May.

14 May 2022

Two additional cases of monkeypox identified in London

Two individuals have been diagnosed with monkeypox in London, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed.

The cases live together in the same household. They are not linked to the previous confirmed case announced on 7 May. Where and how they acquired their infection remains under investigation.

16 May 2022

Four more cases of monkeypox indentified by UKHSA

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has detected 4 additional cases of monkeypox, 3 in London and one linked case in the North East of England.

The 4 new cases do not have known connections with the previous confirmed cases announced on 14 May and the case announced on 7 May.

Investigations are underway to establish links between the latest 4 cases, who all appear to have been infected in London. All 4 of these cases self-identify as gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men (MSM).

Currently, common contacts have been identified for 2 of the 4 latest cases.

There is no link to travel to a country where monkeypox is endemic, and exactly where and how they acquired their infections remains under urgent investigation, including whether they have further links to each other.

Wednesday 18 May 2022

Two more cases of monkeypox identified by UKHSA

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has detected 2 additional cases of monkeypox, one in London and one in the South East of England.

The latest cases bring the total number of monkeypox cases confirmed in England since 6 May to 9, with recent cases predominantly in gay, bisexual or men who have sex with men (MSM).

The 2 latest cases have no travel links to a country where monkeypox is endemic, so it is possible they acquired the infection through community transmission.

Monday 23 May 2022

Dr Susan Hopkins, Chief Medical Adviser, UKHSA, said:

A notable proportion of recent cases in the UK and Europe have been found in gay and bisexual men so we are particularly encouraging these men to be alert to the symptoms.

Rare monkeypox outbreak in U.K., Europe and U.S.: What is it and should we worry?

Updated May 20, 2022

Typically, people catch monkeypox from animals in West Africa or central Africa and import the virus to other countries. Person-to-person transmission isn't common, as it requires close contact with bodily fluids, such as saliva from coughing or pus from the lesions. So the risk to the general population is low, the U.K. health agency notes.

But in England, the vast majority of the 50-plus cases don't involve recent travel to Africa, suggesting the patients involved in those cases caught the virus in England.

In addition, there's evidence the virus could be spreading through a new route: sexual contact. "What is even more bizarre is finding cases that appear to have acquired the infection via sexual contact," epidemiologist Mateo Prochazka at the UKHSA tweeted. "This is a novel route of transmission that will have implications for outbreak response and control."

"We are particularly urging men who are gay and bisexual to be aware of any unusual rashes or lesions and to contact a sexual health service without delay," epidemiologist Hopkins said in the UKHSA's statement.

Monkeypox: What We Do and Don't Know About Recent Outbreaks

June 28, 2022

Excerpts:

Transmission of monkeypox virus to, and between, humans occurs when an individual contacts an infected animal, person or contaminated materials. In addition to gaining entry to the body via broken skin (including wounds invisible to the naked eye), the virus can travel in large respiratory droplets that enter the body via the mouth, nose or eyes. Because these droplets are weighty, and often fail to fly more than a few feet, prolonged contact is required for efficient human-to-human spread. As a result, healthcare workers and individuals who share a household with an infected individual are more at risk.

In terms of the 2022 outbreak, cases of monkeypox have been concentrated in men who have sex with men. To date, it is unclear, and remains under investigation, whether monkeypox can be transmitted specifically through sexual transmission routes. In any case, this transmission pattern coupled with monkeypox’s spread in non-endemic countries has led many to wonder if, like SARS-CoV-2, the virus has mutated to allow for easier human-to-human transmission. Monkeypox is a type of DNA virus, which detects and repairs mutations better than RNA viruses like SARS-CoV-2, and thus is less likely to quickly acquire mutations that promote its spread. However, new research suggests the monkeypox virus has acquired 50 new mutations compared to strains detected from 2018-2019—roughly 6-12 times more than the expected 1-2 mutations per year. Researchers think this "accelerated evolution" may be tied to adaptation of the monkeypox virus to host immune responses. The virus may have been circulating in countries like Europe (the epicenter of the current outbreak) longer than initially thought, acquiring mutations that counteract anti-viral immune responses. More research is required to understand if, and how, changes in monkeypox virus underly the influx in cases across the world.

There is a certain suspicion on the spread in Europe due to the gay/bi men involved:

Monkeypox outbreak linked to Canary Island and Spanish sex parties

The agency's Europe director warned that festivals and parties could accelerate the spread of monkeypox as cases are on the rise in the UK and worldwide

24 MAY 2022

The global monkeypox outbreak has been linked to Gay Pride parties in the Canary Islands, as well as raves in Madrid and Berlin where sexual activity took place, according to health experts.

Dr David Heymann, who formerly headed the WHO's emergencies department believes the spread of the disease through sexual transmission can be traced to key spreader events.

"We know monkeypox can spread when there is close contact with the lesions of someone who is infected, and it looks like sexual contact has now amplified that transmission," said Dr Heymann.

It comes as Germany has four confirmed cases linked to exposure at "party events... where sexual activity took place" in Spain's Canary Islands and in Berlin, according to a government report.

Madrid's senior health official also said on Monday that the Spanish capital had 30 confirmed cases. Enrique Ruiz Escudero confirmed it is investigating possible links between a recent Gay Pride event in the Canary Islands, which drew 80,000 people, as well as cases at a Madrid sauna.

Health officials say most of the known cases in Europe have been among men who have sex with men. But the potentially fatal disease can be passed through close contact with a sick person, their clothing or bedsheets.

"By nature, sexual activity involves intimate contact, which one would expect to increase the likelihood of transmission, whatever a person's sexual orientation and irrespective of the mode of transmission," said Mike Skinner, a virologist at Imperial College London.

On Monday, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control's director, Andrea Ammon, said "the likelihood of further spread of the virus through close contact, for example during sexual activities among persons with multiple sexual partners, is considered to be high".

The agency said the cases appeared to be linked to a monkeypox virus first detected in cases exported from Nigeria to Britain, Israel and Singapore in 2018 and 2019.

Authorities in Britain, Spain and Portugal have said most of the cases identified so far were in young men whose infections were picked up when they sought help for lesions at sexual health clinics.

Dr Heymann, who is also a professor of infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, said the monkeypox outbreak was likely to be a random event that might be traceable to a single infection.

"It's very possible there was somebody who got infected, developed lesions on the genitals, hands or somewhere else, and then spread it to others when there was sexual or close physical contact," he said. "And then there were these international events that seeded the outbreak around the world, into the US and other European countries," he said.

Note: The Canary Pride was attended by 80,000 to 120,000 persons.

Monkeypox outbreak linked to superspreader event at adult sauna

Health officials express concerns about transmission at summer festivals as people urged to watch for symptoms

20 May 2022

Monkeypox is spreading worldwide

Monkeypox cases in Spain have been linked to a superspreader event at an adult sauna in Madrid.

Enrique Ruiz Escudero, the region’s cabinet minister for health of the community, said on Friday that health officials had traced many of Spain’s 30 monkeypox cases to a single sauna in the capital.

Britain’s monkeypox tally now stands at 20 after 11 fresh cases were announced on Friday, and contact tracing and quarantine of close contacts is under way.

A “notable proportion” of the UK and European cases are in gay and bisexual men, health officials have said.

Three cases in Belgium have also been linked to a large-scale fetish festival in Antwerp, according to organisers. The Darklands Festival warned people who attended four days of parties, starting on May 5, that authorities had linked the event to the country’s three confirmed cases.

“There’s reason to assume that the virus has been brought in by visitors from abroad to the festival after recent cases in other countries,” the festival said on its website.

Darklands is a ticketed event that describes itself as a place where “various tribes in the gay fetish community (leather, rubber, army, skinhead, puppies...) come together to create a unique spectacle of fetish brotherhood”.

Sources have told The Telegraph that an internationally advertised gay party in Spain is also being investigated as the root cause of the global monkeypox cases.

In the UK, a link was first drawn between gay men and monkeypox earlier in the week, with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) urging men who have sex with men to be alert to any new rashes or lesions on their body, including their genitalia.

“The Public Health Department will carry out an even more detailed analysis...to control contagion, cut the chains of transmission and try to mitigate the transmission of this virus as much as possible,” Mr Escudero said, Reuters reported.

The Telegraph also understands that experts are concerned about the outbreak in LGBTQ communities because gay pride events are due to begin soon, with the potential for further spread.

Experts are trying to trace and isolate any close contacts of known cases to prevent the outbreak growing further. However, they warned that because cases are being seen around the world, the virus may have been circulating for some time before being detected at the start of May.

Dr Hans Kluge, the World Health Organisation (WHO) regional director for Europe, said: “As we enter the summer season in the European region, with mass gatherings, festivals and parties, I am concerned that transmission could accelerate, as the cases currently being detected are among those engaging in sexual activity and the symptoms are unfamiliar to many.

“I would like to emphasise that individuals contracting monkeypox must not be stigmatised or discriminated against in any way.

“Timely risk communication with the general public is important, and public health bodies should widely disseminate accurate and practical advice on prevention, diagnosis and treatment.”

Monkeypox is normally a virus that is hard to spread from one person to another, and this is the first time there has been sustained human to human transmission outside Africa.

S'pore confirms 3rd local case of monkeypox

This is the sixth case of monkeypox reported in Singapore.

Zhangxin Zheng | clock.png July 14, 2022, 10:08 PM

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed one more local case of monkeypox infection in Singapore on Jul. 14, 2022.

While this case was confirmed a day after the second local case was reported, MOH said that the latest case is not linked to any previous cases of monkeypox.

This is the sixth case of monkeypox reported in Singapore.

The patient is a 41-year-old male Singapore Citizen, MOH said.

The man tested positive for monkeypox on Jul. 14.

He developed genital rashes on Jul. 9, and sought medical care on Jul. 12.

He was subsequently admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases on Jul. 13.

His condition is stable, and contact tracing is ongoing.

Third local case liao.

Why don't MOH let the public know the outcomes of their contact tracing? At least then people will know where or what to avoid going or doing to minimise the chances of catching the disease.

Is going to be a tough job for contact tracing without the trace together. They mention for the first two case but thereafter, all kept quiet already.

Third local monkeypox case reported in Singapore

ST Published 2 Hours Ago

= 14 July 2022 22:20

SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed the third local case of monkeypox on Thursday (July 14), bringing the total number of cases reported here to six.

In an update on its website on Thursday night, the ministry said the patient is a 41-year-old male Singaporean.

The patient is not linked to any of the monkeypox cases announced by MOH earlier.

He developed genital rashes on July 9 and sought medical care on Tuesday.

He was subsequently admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on Wednesday and tested positive for monkeypox on Thursday.

The patient remains warded in NCID and his condition is stable, the ministry said. Contact tracing is ongoing.

The United Nations agency said on Thursday that it will convene a second emergency meeting of its expert monkeypox committee on July 21 to decide whether the outbreak constitutes a global health emergency.

All are men and all get genital rash, the point of entry of the virus, and tau chiak, 偷腥 , have  鸡鸡   to  鸡鸡。 sex on the sly.

But kena seek medical help , when asked about sexual history , all  deny and claim to be 40 year old virgins, pure as a baby. Untouched and undefiled.

Pooi.

I hope it really spreads at all the saunas, TMC, KB, and the other two.

So that M.O.H. can bring fumigators and fumigate t those places.

The interiors have never seen the light and disinfecting powers of natural  sunlight.

Let there be light in the darkest depth of the dimmest , dried cum smelled rooms , of TMC, KB, SHO, and that other one.

No fresh air gets to go in and no.strong sunlight gets in too.

Its a trap for viruses and bacteria , all these men's sauna.

it seems to be spreading, slowly and steadily.

due to sensitive nature, the reports look censored.

all were men, all had symptoms at either cock, and/or ass regions. but no further info on HOW and WHO they had prolong contact with in these parts of their body.

logically, they must had sex with someone (man or woman, not mentioned).

the 6 victims here were not related, and never met, so there MUST be another 6 (or more) people out in the community carrying the pox virus (assuming each of the 6 victims had sex with at least one person).

complications arises,

1. because 3 were local, and 3 were here from oversea. report didn't mentioned whether the 3 local victims had travelled recently.

2. given the long incubation period of the virus (21 days), its likely a healthy virile person would have a few sexual encounters in that period, spreading the virus without knowing.

the next 21 days is crucial.

You should know the media here like ST uses this secret language when it comes to PLU:

Don't forget Newspapers don't have any rating (R18, R21), everyone can access even non adults.

Social contact = bf, sex partner etc. ...

Male social contact = ...

Surely, ST and the likes won't wrap up the report like a porn story, they are not The Sun or the Daily Mail tabloid!

Looking at Europe and the rising numbers I don't have much hope...

The community would need to cease any casual sex and then hope 30 days...

But is that realistic?

On a note: In Other countries it spread to women also through probably their bisexual partners, husbands...

Don't forget Newspapers don't have any rating (R18, R21), everyone can access even non adults.

Social contact = bf, sex partner etc. ...

Male social contact = ...

Surely, ST and the likes won't wrap up the report like a porn story, they are not The Sun or the Daily Mail tabloid!

exactly. so the readers can only make guess work.

Looking at Europe and the rising numbers I don't have much hope...

The community would need to cease any casual sex and then hope 30 days...

But is that realistic?

On a note: In Other countries it spread to women also through probably their bisexual partners, husbands...

i know it well... married men fxxking ard with other men. sigh.

Please do not panic.

Avoid going to the saunas or have M2M sex with strangers for the next 3 weeks.

Observe, stay informed and be cautious.

You forgot to mention or in addition:

1) If you have anal then please only with condom, avoid any contact of the dick with the skin of the other person,

2) best no kissing and

3) no cum exchange by any means (properly pre-cum also).

4) no oral,

5) Don't let people even cum on you. (small invisible wounds on the skin are sufficient to let the virus enter the body).

6) Best solution: abstain from any sex until the situation gets better...

while the advice might be well meant,

but how do you know if your regular fuckbuddy, bf etc didn't visit a sauna, sex party, gang bang, group sex, went overseas and attended such etc etc...

Just excluding fun with any strangers might not be sufficient...

To show how serious we gays can be maybe we should just abstain from fun for the next 3 weeks or so.

I am hopeful that an effective vaccine targeting Monkeypox with be available soon.
Currently, the news is that, the preferred vaccine to combat it is in short supply
But that is to be expected, since there is panic on the streets.
Not to worry since the Pharmaceutical company, Bavarian Nordic, is ramping up production.
Just relax, for the time being, abstain from any close contacts with anyone.

Excluded UK cos it's way up high. Only included US and Australia and Asia for comparison. Sg has 6 cases where we still dunno how they got it.

I still think it is unwise ppl are squeezing in the saunas knowing that monkeypox can survive on surfaces, and u can't see a person's rashes in the dark n there's probably exposure to respiration and breath droplets.

There is a short supply of vaccine for monkey pox  becos the vaccine they are using is specifically for small pox related vaccinne, I heard.

To ramp up production of the monkey pox vaccinne will take a few months.

The main takeaway.is that Monkey Pox unlike the covid 19, MERS, Flu, Cold , is not spread from breathing in air exhaled by an infected person , monkeypox is not airborne soread by droplets or aerosol. Thank.God. So far its close intimate skin.contact.

I think those who can afford it should go and get the Shingles vaccination for extra protection.

If u are not protected ,you get monkeypox and shingles ( chicken pox related) . Painful , and even more painful blisters.

Peoole especially G  should learn to tone down and lie low for the next few months.

Easier said than done.

Gayz libido is rocket high one.

This on transmission:

Mode of Transmission

Transmission of MPV occurs when a person comes into close contact with the virus through an infected animal, infected person, or contaminated environment.

Animal-to-human transmission may occur via:

  • Bite or scratch from an infected animal
  • Bush meat preparation
  • Direct contact with the blood, body fluids, or skin or mucosal lesions of infected animals

Human-to-human transmission is limited but can occur via:

  • Exposure to respiratory droplets
  • Direct physical contact with the blood, body fluid or skin rash from infected individual or contaminated materials

Note also through respiratory droplets!

Long lines in New York for monkeypox vaccine

Long lines in New York for monkeypox vaccine

People wait in line to recieve the Monkeypox vaccine before the opening of a new mass vaccination site at the Bushwick Education Campus in Brooklyn on July 17, 2022, in New York City.

Published July 18, 2022

NEW YORK — On a hot Sunday (July 17) afternoon in New York, the epicentre of the United States (US) monkeypox outbreak, a long line of men aged 20 to 40 wait for a vaccine to protect themselves and their loved ones against the virus.

With its rows of tables and chairs and stacks of medical equipment, the vaccination centre — a high school in Bushwick, Brooklyn — is reminiscent of a vaccine spot for Covid-19, a virus for which New York was also the US epicentre.

Everyone who spoke to AFP while waiting in line said they felt lucky to have gotten an appointment, as New York lacks doses. On Friday, 9,200 time slots became available on the city's dedicated website at 6.00pm (6am, Singapore time).

They were all gone in seven minutes.

Three days earlier, site traffic was so high that the page crashed.

"It was frustrating, largely because especially with Covid, you'd think that we would have more of a structured process or vaccine rollout," Mr Aidan Baglivo, 23, told AFP. "There just wasn't really anything."

'SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE'

The city of more than eight million people saw monkeypox infections climb last week, with 461 cases recorded Friday since the US outbreak began in May.

That number is up from 223 cases on Monday.

Mr Baglivo, a data analyst, noted that people who are the most connected on social media have the highest chances of getting a vaccine appointment.

Mr Robert, who declined to give his last name, told AFP he sat at his computer refreshing the website "like a crazy person" until he got a slot.

"This shouldn't be an issue because there's already a vaccine, and it (the rollout) should be... more efficient to prevent it from becoming more of an issue," said the 28-year-old. Neither his partner nor his best friend have been able to get a vaccine.

"Every additional day where there's not more people being vaccinated is a bummer."

Anyone can catch monkeypox, which spreads through close physical contact, but the Jynneos vaccine is currently reserved for men who have sex with men, who make up the vast majority of cases.

Many LGBTQ people, of which there is a large population in New York, worry their community will be further stigmatized because of the virus.

'IMPORTANT TO BE PROACTIVE'

Mr Nathan Tylutki, a 42-year-old actor, wonders if "there would be a quicker response to developing more vaccines if it wasn't affecting queer people."

In his opinion, there isn't a lot of anti-vaccine sentiment in the LGBTQ community "because we've seen disease, we know what the AIDS epidemic" was like.

"We know that it's important to be proactive about these kinds of things," he told AFP.

Monkeypox is characterized by lesions on the skin — which can appear on the genitals or the mouth —and is often accompanied by fever, sore throat and pain in the lymph nodes. It usually clears up on its own but can be extremely painful.

New York, on the US East Coast, has already either administered or scheduled 21,500 vaccines and hopes to speed up the process, promising more than 30,000 jabs for the whole state.

But due to a lack of doses, the Bushwick site is not expected to reopen Monday.

City health commissioner Ashwin Vasan said Sunday that New York needs tens of thousands more vaccines.

In line at the Bushwick site, fitness instructor Leroy Jackson has another concern.

"I am one of maybe two or three Black people on this line" out of more than 100, said the 27-year-old.

Access to appointments for minorities and underprivileged groups is even more limited, he pointed out. AFP

I still think it is a disservice to the LGBT community for BW to remove monkeypox discussion from threads about high risk places like saunas. Even Grindr is sending out reminders. In the minimum, at least explore how alerts on Monkeypox can be pinned at the top of the list of threads.

MOH ideally should proactively outreach to the community to highlight vaccination. This would help prevent it from spreading from MSM to wider community. Is it asking too much of MOH, I wonder

totally agree but for some reason, they always delete any discussion of STDs and safe sex from those threads while leaving all the threads about bareback in place…. Not sure why?

tbh, everyone going to sauna at the moment (and especially those then boasting about their antics here for attention 🤦‍♂️) is not going to pay any attention to pinned posts anyway - they already know the risks and are thinking only with little head. More fool them.
