Is Dr M a 5 year old kid when he made the inflammatory comments ? What a lame exit strategy! Is Dr M trying to say that we should not take him seriously on his speeches ? If so, our kind Malaysians next door  should  consider whether  to take Dr M or his party seriously when voting  in the upcoming  elections.  Nice try  !! But we are not suckers like Anwar who has been repeatedly been played out Dr M.

Tan Chuan-Jin says he finds it ‘amusing and sad’ how some S’poreans use their anecdotal experience in Malaysia to pull down our own nation (msn.com)

Tan Chuan-Jin says he finds it ‘amusing and sad’ how some S’poreans use their anecdotal experience in Malaysia to pull down our own nation

Why Tan Chuan Jin so like that ah? I thought he says we must welcome foreigners? I thought he says we must not be xenophobic? But yet, when people sing praise of Malaysians, say we agree to merge with Malaysia, he says they are pulling down our nation?

But then hor ... someone also said things like "Singaporeans commit more crimes in Singapore" last time? And Singapore "has no talents", those are not pulling down the nation meh??

Funny lor ... looks like whether you are "xenophobic" or whether you are "pulling down a nation" doesn't depend on any guidelines but it really depends on your party lines.

It would be better to take a leap from Bill Gates instead of playing sour grape...

"Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning." Bill Gates ·

Any critic leads in the best to improvement. If you don't want to improve, then ok, restrict the people to voice critic.

What is the issue if some matters in Malaysia are better?

How about the friendliness level of service staff in retail, hotels and restaurants?

You don't want fair critic because it would result in "pulling down"?

What happened to your aim to always excel and be the best???

In fact, Dr M should promote building nation spirit instead of sticking onto a policy of racial divide for Malaysia.

In that sense his turning up to a speech at this convent was already wrong.

Dr. M should spent more time after hard learned lessons to create a non racial based party for Malaysia instead wasting his time on some rocks in the Straits of Malacca...

Self entitled complaint king who obviously can't make it on his own and wanted to vent his personal failures on foreigners. Think the entire country owns him a living. Pathetic! Please hor, dun assume that every Singaporean think like you or are anti foreigners. Truly the typical ugly Singaporean. 🙄

If a country care more for foreigners and less for its citizens,  and can further blame the citizens for being "self-entitled" during time of peace, why should the country be "entitled" to the citizens' protection during times of chaos like now. Sure, you can always make it a legal matter to force the citizens to take up arms. But where will those arms be pointing then? This is basic common sense.

The outline of your starting sentence seems already contradicting reality.

Have you thought that feeling yourself as a second class resident may be the result of denial of reality or impacted by a potential inferiority complex?

Take the measures implemented by the government to allevate the high inflation experienced at the moment in Singapore, do any tax paying resident Foreigners who also suffer from high inflation and increased energy costs benefit on GST or energy bill rebates or a single cent of the other 1.5 billion package just decided????

$1.5b package to help S'poreans cope with inflation; $100 utilities credit for every household

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/spore-rolls-out-15b-package-to-help-lower-income-households-businesses-cope-with-inflation

Your point doesn't cope with reality.

What a narrow minded view. Singapore's success is also partly due to the contributions of foreigners and PRs working in Singapore.  Each Singaporean is responsible for their own personal success and take whatever opportunities that the country can provide them e.g upgrade their skills so that they  can take on jobs. If Singapore is only  looking inwardly,  no foreign countries will want to invest in Singapore and set up businesses here to give jobs to Singaporeans. What does Singapore  have ? Just a little red dot with no natural resources. Just because Singapore has success today, you want to be yaya and think you are above foreigners because they took your jobs. WTF ! The only reason you lose the opportunities to them is because you CMI ! The opportunities are out there for you to upgrade your skills and be competitive rather than being an xenophobia sore loser.  And about national service, Singaporeans do it including myself cos our homes and families are here in Singapore!  There's no one coming to help us defend our homes except ourselves.  To think you want to link national service with preferential treatment over foreigners,  now I see why you are deprived of the opportunities because you totally deserve your own fate !

Aren't you tired of repeating all these usual motherhood statements such as the success of Singapore is dependent on the contribution of foreigners and PRs? Take a look at Singapore before 2000s when Singapore had so very few foreigners in the country. Those were the high and good quality foreigners who brought real jobs to Singaporeans. And even then, Singapore was considered one of the global economic miracles.

Take a look at what we have in Singapore now. People with fake academic qualifications can even infiltrate into the Singapore workforce. So please don't come here and preach to everyone about upgrading skills and make all those motherhood statements, OK? You might be able to sell your excuse a decade or so ago, but not anymore. And furthermore, even with almost half the population comprising of foreigners, companies exiting China are not even looking at Singapore to move into, and instead they are going into Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia etc. So what does that say about these foreigners in the country now? Do they really draw any new jobs or new opportunities anymore?

Singapore's success was partly due to the contributions of foreigners and PRs in the past. But now in the present, looking at the quality of foreigners in this country working in Singapore and on this forum, they are just here for themselves and they are just holding the entire country back.

Wahahaha, a pot calling a kettle black. Wondering who's the one  who's making generalised stereotype motherhood statements.  Aren't you tired of repeating all your whining?  I pity all those who have dealt with you and applaud them for slamming the  door of opportunities at your face. If I'm the employer, I would rather hire a hungry foreigner than a haughty, self absorbed,  self entitled Singaporean who thinks the entire country owes him a living. Continue to indulge your xenophobic patronising  mentality towards foreigners and get left behind while the rest of us move on to better our lives and take whatever opportunities that are given to us.

Wahahaha. You just proved how true it is for the "generalised stereotype motherhood statements" that Singapore is not run as a country worthy of any citizens' loyalty, because it is run as a business Singapore Incorporated where the cheapest "employees" are welcomed and others are encouraged to "leave" if they are not happy! Thank you for your post.
