People are again saturated with dopamine,  with PLEASURE ???   Yesterday we heard that the whole island of Cuba lost electric power due to hurricane Ian.  The little possessions of so many Cubans were washed away by the wind and flood.  Hopefully they will survive!   And since last night,  hurricane Ian wrought hell in central Florida, where so many people saw their trailers, their modest houses,  their cars, most of their possessions,  also washed away.   We see images of the poor Ukrainians under the siege by the Russian troops,  their houses destroyed, their family members murdered,  living without food, water, electricity...   Where is all this PLEASURE?

 

Will this woman again return in 60 years from now to preach the evils of pleasure?  Ana Lembke is a famous psychiatrist who specializes in addictions to opioids.  This is quite different from gays being able to experience more pleasure of sex thanks to the decriminalization of gay sex, repudiation of the sodomy laws,  recognition of same-sex marriage.   And in 60 years maybe all the STDs will be curable,  and addictions to opioids and other substances may also be easily curable.

I think she's not wrong: we see this today in young people seeking dopamine rush in the way they use tiktok and other short form media. Already content is limited to 15sec, bitesized (too little!) And yet they scroll through after watching 4-5 sec,  to the next, and the next... they aren't really interested in consuming the content, just feeding on the dopamine rush that comes from being titillated,  stimulated, humoured,  with a new video. 

Same for porn.  At some point, I only got turned on by orgy videos, cos vanilla couple videos are too boring.  Lately,  even orgies (3, 5, 20.. it gets ridiculous after that) can't seem to get me off. Never would I dream that one day I'd find fisting videos a turn on (was super grossed out years ago).

But I don't feel good about myself after the initial dopamine rush,  after my cumming all over my hands., yet I know a few hours later I'll scroll through grindr again...

Wish I stopped thinking of sex all the time.

I agree with you.  What is the correct way is to say that we gay men are INCLINED to sex, and we are proud of it.  Some unfortunately get addicted, and this is not good.

 

All humans we are inclined to sex,  this is natural,  but I think that mostly men,  gay and straight,  we are proud of it.
