Do you do full body medical check up when you reach 40s?

If yes, which hospital and plan is good?

What do you test for?

How often do we need to do? Every year?

Is the government subsidised one good enough?

How old are you asking such basic questions ?? or another wu-liao but wants attention

Do you do full body medical check up when you reach 40s? - YES and No , depends on your body or what your GP say

If yes, which hospital and plan is good? - First listen to your what your GP recommend or check with your insurance agent what does it covers

What do you test for? - Doc will tell you , not u decide , there packages to choose from

How often do we need to do? Every year? - Doc will tell you , depending on your test rest - gist such commonsense question

Is the government subsidised one good enough? - Good or not is subjective - I seriously asked how old are u ?? 16 ??

You are generally safe (even with high blood pressure) and able to live a very long life if your arteries are not clogged or calcified.

I am with SGH. Started w them a long time ago and I stick w SGH since all my records are with them. I prefer to have all my records kept under ‘one same roof’.

how did you get started may I ask? Going to poly clinic to get a referral letter?

No. No need referral. Just call up the Executive Screening Dept to book an appointment. It is not subsidised.
You can find out the different screening  packages from their website.

https://www.healthhub.sg/programmes/61/Screen_for_Life < VERY BASIC $5. Seems to be too basic

It is generally recommended that individuals undergo regular medical checkups as they age, including a full body checkup when they reach their 40s. This can help detect any potential health problems early on and prevent them from worsening.

The specific hospital and plan you choose will depend on your personal preferences and needs, as well as your location and insurance coverage. It's best to consult with your primary care physician or health insurance provider to determine which hospitals and plans are covered by your insurance and to get recommendations for reputable facilities in your area.

They can also help you determine which specific tests and screenings you may need based on your medical history and risk factors.

I used to do regular checkups with private clinics which can cost several hundred dollars.  Which I think prevents many from doing it regularly.  And they feel fine at that moment.

A couple years ago, I started doing my check ups with a Polyclinic and the total cost was less that $50.  Same tests but at a fraction of the cost.

You can even go directly to the laboratories to do your blood, urine, stool tests and cut out the middle man.  Then when the report is out and some numbers are alleviated, just go see any doctor for an opinion.

Even you do regular checkups, this does not mean your health will be healthy. Some health condition might not able to detect thru during health checkup, even some health condition might not have any symptom until late stage. This is why some people simply do not go for health checkups. 😅

I went to poly clinic and doc asks me to go back and do lab investigation test.

He is the test will screen more things than the $5 subsided one.

Has anyone done it before?

While it is not 100% effective, it does help to rule out many long-term illnesses.  Can diagnose earlier, so treatment is more effective or even embark on preventative actions.

For example, I have had high cholesterol levels all my life. Even when I was very active in my 20s/30s. Training everyday.  A couple years ago, i put on quite a few kgs as I became busy and didn't exercise a lot.  And through one of these tests, I was found to have fatty liver.  I was advised to go on medication but I refused and opted to lead a healthier lifestyle.  A year later, last October, I dropped 10 kgs, and cholesterol levels, while still on the high side, dropped to similar levels I had when I was in my 30s.  Blood pressure has normalised. My fatty liver is also non-existent.  Since Oct 22 till now I dropped another 4kgs.

I still recommend it for anyone above 40 years old.  Once every 2 years at least.  Then in their 50s they should do it at least yearly.  Because of my fatty liver scare, I have done blood tests every 6 months at the polyclinic.
