The last time I ran at MacRitchie was 4-5years back. With no more Covid19 restriction now, it's certainly refreshing to be back there to do my run.

Noticed a few changes, good and bad:

1. The lockers outside the men's changing/shower room are gone! 😖. Luckily, those near the kayak hunt are still around, albeit a little walk is required from the changing area. Heng ah.

2. Canteen has closed down. No more quick fix like banana and 100+ after run. I did not notice if the 100+ vending machine that used to be located outside the men's changing is still there or not. Luckily, water cooler and refill stations are still available.

3. In the men's shower room, it used to have 2 rows of shower head, 3-4 shower heads at each row. I only see 4 shower heads in 1 row now. Have to wait for my turn to shower even though there wasn't many people showering this morning. 👎

With 2 rows of shower head last time, there wasn't enough space on the bench to put our stuff. But now, the bench can nice accommodate us. Just outside the shower area, they have put another bench there. Good move.

4. The water pressure is strong. Love it. 🥰

5. The mirror is still there. That's good.

I also see wild fowls and chickens there now. I could hear the sound of the chicken when I was running in the trail.

Oh yes.....I almost stepped onto a black colour snake just no!! It was still a baby (I guess) and it was travelling very fast from one side of the forest to the other. That's real close! 😓

The weather was great this morning. Very windy and the sun wasn't strong during my run.

Glad to be back running at MacRitchie trail.😍

Part of the trail (nearer to Lornie Rd side) has been closed. Perhaps there is fallen tree inside. Got to derail to the boardwalk.

Even then, there is a small section of the boardwalk is impacted by a fallen tree. Luckily, NPark set up something to lift up the tree so that runner/walker can pass through.

Hot day today. Thanks to the canoe boys for sharing shower heads.🥰😍

I hope NPark will reinstall the 100plus vending machine outside the male changing room.

You either need to seek medical assistance or a spiritual medium for help.

Most likely you have been videotaped by the person hiding behind the bathroom door.

Been really a long while since I have my run there. Need to go early before the crowd comes in and the monkeys crowd my running path. Eeeiiii

There are two types of monkeys: (1) those that come out during the daytime for food, and (2) those that come out late at night for "spiritual treatment." Discriminating against the same species might not be ethical. There is nothing to avoid, and likewise they might also be avoiding you.

I love running in the city, especially the Marina Bay area. Usually I'll leave my bag at the lockers in the shower room at Funan. Then I'll walk to my start point at the esplanade. I'm sure most are not stranger to the Marina Bay area so you'll know that it's really scenic. Usually I do between 5k to 15k. After my runs, I use the walk back to Funan as a my cool-down and then hit the showers there. Thank God Funan has shower facilities!

If you're keen on joining me, do drop a pm!

When it’s drawing near the F1 date, there are lots of road blocks and restrictions when running in central area. This, I dislike month of Aug-Sep when they are setting up for F1 race. Marina area is also getting a tad too crowded in the evening. Love the period just after Covid restrictions was lifted. The street of Singapore was so much less crowded. Great place to run.

It’s just beside the 7-11 at the end of the bike track, you will need the CapitaLand app to access the shower. It’s a tiny space, but the shower cubicle are huge that can accommodate two person.

There are a few run related threads in BW but they are more location specific.
The purpose of this thread is for run enthusiasts and runner wannabes to post anything under the sun about running.
Share all your juicy encounters (not your dream yeah) and send invitation for others to join you in your run here.

Sounds good! But I can’t run much. Is there a beginner kind of group? Hehehe

Any distance is a good start. If you work at town area like Raffles Place or Tanjung Pagar or She ton Way, you can join Running Department or Urban Milers. Try Google for details.

Thanks for sharing the above.  I just checked the Running Dept and Urban Milers - it seems they are pretty 'long-distance', by my standards.  Do you know of any other similar running clubs which run short distances (eg 2.4km) or jog slowly?

From what I know so far, running groups min distance is 5km.
There is a run group organised by someone from BW, which is also 5-10km distance.
I’m unaware of other leisure run group that does 2.4km.

Just run on your own first if you are worried about the pace and distance. It’s less stressful and enjoyable. When you run in groups, esp new to them, you would tend to wanna catch up with their pace and feel anxious about it. If you already have some base then maybe better. Just sharing my own experience.

Agree! Personally, I prefer running on my own. OTOT (own time own target). Stress free. Lol

You will have to state your speed and distance. There are beginner who can run long but very slow while another type of beginner can run fast but very short distance. For my running group there are very slow runner who join and if you can at least run 5km very slowly than you can join my group.
