how slow is very slow? thinking of getting back into jogging but my base is like zero now

There are people in my running group speed like fast walking so it should be no problem if you want to join my group unless i bring my group to join another group than there may have speed issues. I will always announce in my own group chat if i am organizing one or joining others

Runner also will retire someday. 🤣😂🤣😂

Now, I’m more of a blueSWIMmer. 😬😝

There are several runner still running into their old age. As for me who dont go gym, running become one of my needed exercises weekly. I make many friends through running together and its one of the motivation that will keep me running until to the very end.

so basically about 4 minutes per round the track?

i never go count the speed lol, our running group have people running at different speed but when i am organizing i always go forward tell the fast one to stop to wait for the slower ones when the distance from the faster to slowest too big. I always keep my eye on the slowest one to prevent them from getting lost

That's so nice of you. And you must be going additional distance going up and down the first and last runners

If I ever restart running, your group has priority consideration

any running group at botanics or bukit timah?

botanical garden is a nice place to run. i will get lost there. 😁

I have not been there for a very long time. I remember many years ago (pre-Covid), public can access from the MOE Evan Road side. I realized the area is now fenced up.

Bukit Timah area will be Rifle Range area, leading to MacRitchie?

I love MacRitchie but the monkeys there can be a little intimidating. Got chased a few times 😵‍💫

Able to run any distance is good regardless of the time you take. Keep it din and. It stressful. Well done. 👍👏

Exactly. The moment it becomes a chore, every minute turns dreadful.

Thinking of running or any exercise as a chore is a negative mindset that needed to be removed.

Positive thinking is one of the main motivation of running or any exercise. Think of the health benefits, think of how it makes you body looks good and in the end more attractions you can have.

Set a running quota to run how many times each week and or long you wanna run. Be realistic on the speed and distance you can achieve

I ran three times a week. It’s always a joy

I think you don't have to worry about speed for beginners. I started running last year June. My first 5k was 55 minutes ish. Then I started getting shin splints coz I tried to run faster. Ended up recovering for a month and learnt my lesson - run at your own pace to avoid injury.

(Recently clocked 40 mins for 5k and I'm so proud of myself😭)

That’s a good progress.slow and steady.

It has really been a while since I did any serious outdoor running.
Last evening, I managed to get my lazy ass to the running track and did a few rounds w some serious runners. Needless to say, I got my ass kicked left right center. On the hind sight, I felt good running on the tender running track and there was just so much positive energy from those runners around.
Long wait at shower room though as it’s near closing time. Majority straight men, most men that day were hairy. No cruising vibe, which I like. I can walk around naked after shower comfortably ’cos no one really bothers.

I hope I can continue doing this in weeks to come.

I remember doing track running (which I didn't really like because running around in circles is just so.... mundane) at the Kallang Practice Track before COVID and on some evenings it is packed with some of the most good-looking and hyper-lean runners training for the national team.

Of course, these people literally fly by you with their amazing speed; you can barely catch a glimpse of their wonderfully sculptured calves and thighs. And at the end of their run when they remove their tops, I must have given out an audibly loud gasp. 🤣

For battery drainage issue, can you just change the battery (like how we can change a new phone battery) or do you need to get a new watch?

You will have to head to the Garmin shop (there’s one at Plaza Sing) for a battery change I suspect, but it will cost you an arm and a leg + 6-8 weeks (?) of waiting as their workshop is in Taiwan if memory serves me right. Bottomline is Garmin wants you to buy a new watch rather than get it fixed.

Many shops I’ve visited don’t repair Garmin watches as well. A corner of my Forerunner 645 casing came off and I went everywhere to try to get it fixed.

Garmin wanted to charge hundreds of dollars so it was a no for me. In the end I located this company called Technofied Vision which was able to help at a much lower rate (I think I paid around $130?) and it took around a week.

I probably should have bought a new watch, but I felt it was such a waste when the overall watch was still functioning relatively well.
