JayRoss55 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 China has seen a gradual shift in public attitudes toward homosexuality, with increased visibility and discussion in media and online platforms. However, it remains a complex social issue. There is no legal prohibition against homosexuality itself, but same-sex marriage is not legally recognized. While younger, urban populations tend to be more accepting, traditional family values and concerns over social stability mean that full societal acceptance is still evolving. The Chinese government maintains a stance that does not encourage public advocacy of LGBT rights, but it does not actively persecute individuals for their sexual orientation either. Thus, the change is real but cautious and uneven.
Why? Posted April 19 Posted April 19 China's perception of homosexuals is significantly superior to Singapore's. There is just one primary explanation: China forbids religious fanatics from interfering with national politics and policies. Singapore politicians are often afraid of losing support and votes unlike the China political scenes.
Pubico1 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Imagine millions of unhappy repressed non-straight people all squeezed inside a pressure cooker culture, forced into a caricature version of “successful” life with no breathing space for the true self. Ingredients for disaster. Giant space rock destroying earth has more existential purpose than this stupidity.
And then Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Even female writers of BL stories were being prosecuted. Actors appearing in BL media were "cancelled" Nearly all gay saunas/bathhouses were shut down In terms of LGBT, China has gone backwards in a big big way in the last 10 years
