Agree with Gachi

First you put yourself to zero expectation.

Next - stop imagining how bad it could be.

Third - this is a new experience. Relish it.

If you are so desperate to take a peek, go to youtube and search cyberpioneertv. They have a mini-documentary about BMT from chapter 1 to chapter dunno how many i.e. from prelistment to Passing out Ceremony of a group of Recruits...

a must see for all to oogle at uniforms and cute bods... many there in the background and those who the documentary follow tru thier BMT journey. it is well worth your time to go see it.

put link here. NO.

you go search for it on youtube. i aleady spelt it out for you... the sub-heading is Every Singaporean Son... quite well made

have fun watching.

For those who already served decades ago, look at it again... new pixel uniforms!! new faces... if only can transmit the smell of the sweat, the dirt and the texture of feeling...

damn... hard leow......

To anyone who's worried: I'm in the army right now. I'm doing totally fine, and nobody in my unit suspects that I'm gay (at least not to my knowledge). I went through loads of tough training together with everyone else and trust me, it's fine. Unless you're the sort to faint every time you see a hot body (and there are quite a few in the army [and that's an understatement]), you should have no problems at all.

And so what if they find out you're gay? Just prove that you can do your tasks and that your sexuality doesn't make any difference.

If u r not some diva or sista, dun think anyone will know u r gay la. esp if ur behaviour is like any normal guy on the street. I think many times in army, u can sure find some guys who behave sissy, at most these guys only got tease and "bully" by other guys in the platoon. Nothing much will happen lah, so no need to worry so much.

I personally think army is fun and it really makes u a better person. And u get to know many gd friends from the army.

I...dont think so! They have cubicles nowadays! haha with doors of course. besides right, you'd be surprised to know some straight guys are...quite shy about bathing in the open!

If u are posted to tekong, u are very lucky. Now everything has changed. The shower cubicles got door! Now leadership batch of recruits issued with laptops for lessons.

Btw im a commander in tekong and i have to say i have taken a few batches. There are a few really sissy ones. I rmb theres one batch, i got one recruit damn girly and sissy but everyone accepted him as who he is. Even the commanders. Hence, he wasnt bullied at all, and close with the others. its just about urself and how u mix around with ur section and platoon mates . ;)

on the contrary, i had a super masculine, super beng, super "i only eat cunts so fxxk off you faggots" platoon mate back in bmt. he was the target board of everyone in the company for being stuck up and excessively chauvinistic.

this is totally helpful..... all i see u guys worrying is about being found out or this test that test bla bla bla....... has it ever occured to u guys that when u are surrounded by guys and what if a brother of urs really took great care of u and u guys were like best buds ( except he doesnt know that ure gay ) what then ? what if u really feel for some guy there in ns and u have to live it through ? isnt it tough? the man u see , the man u live with , the man who practically shares a part of life with u, the man u love ...... but u cant have him. i looked through these pages and not one is regarding on this issue.. i admit i am all emotional, but what if that really happens? cause u'll never know when love drops by right ? what then ? any experiences u guys can share about ? thanks ......

They will notify your parents because they want your parents to be involved in the so-called "treatment" process.

Why declare gay when you are just fine?

Well, I do admit that I do want to have a slack time in NS. Im pes B and im aware that i have a chance of being sent to combat unit that involves lots of running and shit. I prefer staying in one spot by myself as i appreciate being alone at times.

Anyway, do you have any proof or evidence that supports what you just said? im not really against ur statement, i just want to know the truth, i tried searching the web for some official statement on this, but to no anvail.

Blood test is not that painful if the medic has enough experience... but not for mine... he drew two test-tubes of blood from me... one from each arm!

hmmm. so many worries among the enlisted young gay men down here

maybe i shall add on to the input here :)

I just ORDed 2 weeks ago and honestly, NS has been a very fruitful experience.

There is really nothing to worry about your enlistment.

Being a PLATOON SERGEANT in BMTC which is in PULAU TEKONG, I have seen

all kind of guys, be it gay or straight, straight acting or the sissy type.

They all make it through without an issue.

YES, sometimes, there are days where you are SOOOOO attracted to some people,

but then again, SELF-control comes into play i guess. Make good friends with them

and win them over lor. For me, i managed to date a few guys so yeap ;)

So all the best to all those who are going to enlist. I am not going to lie and tell you that

it is going to be easy being a gay men in the army, but it is not impossible and I have been the platoon/

company best in some occasions on the things that I do.

If you need more clarifications and perhaps need to clear doubts, contact me directly and I will be of assistance

in what ever way i CAN. take care brothers and do your best :)

Even if you are gay, you still have a cock, you still are a man and you still need to serve your country. The only difference is that you are attracted to another man. If you want to chao keng, do it on real medical grounds - go break your limbs or back. I don't agree to the fact that declaring will exempt you from combat duties. Gays are also men. No sexual orientation discrimminatory practices, please. Be a man. Live with it.

I think the MO will ask you if you are homosexual. If you do, they will send you to a psychologist for assessment. Not that they think gay men are mentally ill, they are doing this because there are too much straight boys who are trying to escape from the hardship of National Services. This is to prevent false declaration. We have too many ball-less straight men.

At no point your parents will be informed about your sexuality. But to my best knowledge, they will call your parents to find out more about you, to give them a better assessment if you are telling the truth. They will explain to your parents that you might be having difficulties adapting to army life and that is the reason they are calling. I collected these information from the SAF counsellors, not completely sure if this is the accurate info.

And no, no professional medical services will ask you to strip and jump in full view of others. If they do, you should ask why. You are serving National Services, not in a Nazi camp.

very sensible information for this topic.thank you.

Just do it. NS is the time for you to just switch off yr brains and follow orders. Nobody will tease you for being faggy. And unless you are an attention seeking drama queen, people will just leave you alone. I was actually disappointed when I was downgraded to Pes C cos of my previous dislocation and poor eyesight (a thousand degrees per eye. I wear Toric contact lenses and frens my glasses, if I wear them, are thick!)

Just follow orders, thats all. Its not as bad as you think. Many gay guys have survived it and so can you.

And oh, please dont ask yr father or yr maid to carry yr fullpack for you.

HIV is a common test they would check. And its done twice.

1) When you are up for Pre-Enlistment

2) When you are going to ORD

So don't think that you can engage in unprotected after you are done with pre-enlistment. Trust me, ORD check up of 2 weeks long wait is not funny.

im nice. :)

Depends on what's ur medical condition... The doctor should be able to judge if u are able to serve bmt... Ya true many unfit boys who can't even pass nafa like myself who survived bmt... While some seemingly fit ones interestingly went ooc.. It all depends on ur mindset... Bmt affected me quite alot and it's one of the most impt phase of my life which of cos at the same time too tough that i would not wan to go thru a second time... Every man should go thru it once

Please dun frighten him!

No need to be naked during the checkup, but u will only be wearing ur underwear during the check-up, i mean the last part where u wait to see the doctor.

No, don't worry. You don't have to be fully naked. You just have to remove your top and wait for the doc to examine you... That is usually the last station if I'm not wrong.

In the doc's office, the doc will ask you to remove your pants & underwear and he'll look at your testicles and ask some questions and after that, you're done. It's very fast. lol

It may sounds stupid but ironically j/o in NS is illegal. I'm not sure if people ever break that rule and didn't get caught as there's a famous saying in army - "do anything but don't get caught".

It's not surprising not being able to j/o will create any impact as the trainings are demanding both physically and emotionally (sometimes). The schedules are packed like sardine, even waiting time is buffered in between and masked as part of the activit(ies). At the end of the day, all you want most is a shower and hit the bed straight. No time and/or energy for other thoughts.

I supposed all serving NS are treated equally including the Caucasians. Nowadays with the influx of PRs coming in, a bunk may typically filled up with a ratio of 'foreigners' comparable to local Singaporean. These PRs can come from western countries and China, Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and so on. As they will eventually get their citizenship, all are treated as Singaporean and hence grouped together.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I was wondering how it'll be when i'll be enlisted.

My dad is from Germany and moved to Singapore 27 years ago and met my mom here, so I'm half an ''ang moh''!

The family on my moms side often make jokes about me going to NS and so on, so I used this opportunity to ask questions about "inappropriate" topics (:

Somehow, I'm very excited for BMT and NS in general!

The sweat, the working out, hopefully getting in shape and all those topless men drenched in sweat... /dreamy eyes!

How did all of you j/o during NS time?

can't imagine not being able to j/o!!

Anyway, i was wondering what happens with caucasians or so!

There are some causasians born here or PR, are they grouped with locals or with other whities?

There is no rule stated tht u cannot jerk off in ns. I think jerk off is the same everywhere, if u do it privately like inside the toilet, dun think anyone will know.

Hello all

I have a question regarding about enlisting to NS. Do anyone know that, if enlisting to NS without & with a certificate does it really affects your future rank & pay etc? My minimum cert is a "O" level certificate. Roughly what will i be if i went in with a "O" level certificate? What's your opinion about this

I sincerely do need help & advice regarding this... Thank you in advance..

**I apologies if i have started a thread in a wrong section..**

Aiya, no diffferent between Lance or Corporal lah. During reservist, almost these two ranks have no difference with each other and also the lower the rank the less responsibility during ICT lor.

Thanks for the reply.. I heard from my friend that. Going in with a dip cert, there is chances to go commander/officer/speclist Without it, the chances is 0 ..

that's not true. I've attended poly before my NS(quit at year 2), so my highest qualification is O'Lvl. But i went for the Sit Test too( the test to qualify for specialist/ officer. But I did highlight that i attended poly before so maybe that's the reason I was selected for it. But I also heard that some poeple from other company was selected even they have only PSLE cert.

Anyway, I don't really think certs are very important in NS, these are just myth( unless you are thinking to sign on.) My unit got many people from JCs, entering to Uni or from overseas etc. But the rank still varies. If you aimming to go command school or etc, just be more garang.

If you are from a poly/JC batch, you will most likely end up in Tekong unless your education cycle got screwed up halfway. From Tekong's BMTC, you have opportunities to go like almost anywhere in the SAF that fits your own PES status. Tekong's BMTC recruits also has the highest potential to end up as commanders in the SAF due to the presence of SIT test and the option of whether you would like to take up a leadership role in the SAF. Diploma or above will be qualified for both officers and specs. Specs may have lower educational qualifications such as ITE graduate or an O Level holder.

However, if you are a O Level holder or an ITE graduate, you will most likely end up in an mono-intake unit(as Man) to undergo your BMT training(where there is no SIT test and you are not given any options to express your interest in command school) and you will most likely be tagged to that unit for the rest of your NSF life, unless you perform exceedingly well in your mono-intake such that your commanders recommend you for command school. Even that you would only qualify for SCS due to your educational qualifications.
