Thinking Of AFA And HIV Screening

Today the Straits Times carried an article that a concluded probe into Action For AIDS (AFA) dispels sex claims that was alleged in The New Paper (TNP) . Allegations that volunteers from Action for Aids (AFA) had been sexually intimate with people they were counselling have been found to be baseless, an investigation by the Aids awareness group has concluded. (Read more in the papers or the AFA web site)

I am happy that AFA is cleared. Just sadden, that because of personality reasons, jealousy, hatred, sex, money, .... (whatever your favorite reason) gays would in fight and try to cast negative publicity and destroy a voluntary organization like AFA which lead to the original allegations in The New Paper (TNP). Especially since AFA is serving the community in a useful and voluntarily capacity.

While at the AFA web site, I read their 2004 annual report.

Last year 3647 males and 307 females, a total of 3954 people went for AFA Anonymous HIV screening. This was 48% increase for man year on year.

As responsible adults, I urge every "sexually active" reader to do regular HIV screening at your doctor's clinic or via AFA. 3954 people did their screening last year, be responsible to yourself / community.

You can click on the AFA logo from Blowing Wind main page to get there
