Skin condition could be due to genes, health, emotions, food intake, medicine intake, excessive sunlight, allergy to chemicals in cleanser & body wash.

You got to monitor, deduce, consult doctor physician.

The more natural it is the better.

It is not true cum causes flawless skin.

you can achieve flawless skin but i won't recommend it. you need to take some medicine and it's very bad for liver. i'm sure some of you know what i'm taking about. a lot of models and actresses take it.

yea skin problem is unavoidable esp u are teen... there's alot to do with the genes... u can try a skin doctor aka dermatologist whom can prescribe u oral and topical solutions... my skin did improve alot after consulting a doctor though still far from flawless but at least there's less outbreaks..

It's mainly in the genes. You can eat some food to improve your skin condition too, like tofu... and food rich in collagen. Also, try not to smoke, cos smmoking will sag the skiny and cause more wrinkles to surface.

I can only use Clean & Clear, the super dry kind of facial wash.

Any other facial wash will cause my face to break out in acne.

Because my face usually rehydrates itself properly so in humid weather, it's very ripe for pimples to develop.

Try a dermatologist or experiment with a few facial wash.

Just don't squeeze those pimples.

I have to agree that some ppl are just born with flawless skin. Some of them dont even need to take care of their skin much but it look flawless! A good example is my brother. Sigh. For myself, i have been battling with oily and acne prone skin since sec school up til now.

Ya lo. Can't achieve flawless complexion. Got to born with it. See a dermatologist. Go for those treatment, the most is to reduce the pitted scar depth. I'm only one in the family born with finer hair (not balding, just that not thick enough compared to most) and oily skin, finer eyebrows. Was very inferior when I was a teenager. The best I can do is to eat right and exercise regularly. But my overall features and physique did made me looked above average (as complimented by many be it gal or guy) I thought I shld be contented? Guess I'm greedy la, if I have more money I would want to lessen the dept of he pitted scar and see a plastic surgeon about implanting thicker brows and hair ahaha

Visit a dermatologist and get consultation. Healthy diet and exercise regularly. Wear sun protection and good skincare regime. Don't need to buy expensive skincare, if you can afford please go ahead. Get facial rejuvenate treatment if you have extra money. Remember to go to certified dermatologist or skin specialist but not those beauty center.

I was recommended to take Roaccutane for 6 months and then fractional laser. But was scared to take Roaccutane for the side effects. Don't ever take it for the sake of vanity.... you will regret it.

Roaccutane / Isoretinoin cannot be obtained anyhow. You will need a dermatologist to certify if you're fit for it. It does not give you flawless skin but it does reduce acne & pimple breakouts. Even if you do get a hold of these drugs, please please please take note that there is a price to pay for beauty. Side Effects

Hi, just to clear up something about Roaccutane.

Roaccutane or any other generic accutane brand can be consumed safely under the supervision of an experienced GP/Dermatologist, preferably those who had treated countless of patients with it.

I've been on accutane for a full 150mg/kg course, it was terrible to go through the process as you are constantly battling with super dry/cracked lips/ dry eyes and sunburnt/tanned look all the time and the need to avoid the sun at ALL cost is required during the treatment or you will end up aggravating it even more. Acne/pimple does not necessarily clear up through the course and you might have to wait until the last month on it like me, however, oil production is halted very obviously and you will have to apply moisturizer for most part.

Accutane defers from person to person, from side effects to positive outcome and post accutane results which includes relapses and sebum change. Personally, I would recommend anyone to go for a single course given that they have the cash to spare because it is one of the most expensive treatment out there costing approximately $2500 incl of consultation, medication and blood tests and that is with the generic Nimegen brand.

Reason why it is better to go for an early roaccutane treatment before hesitation is due to the fact that you are likely to spend more on scar treatment and laser if you don't treat the root of the problem and accutane prevents scarring and heals by shedding the skin constantly but halts the healing of old marks, however, there is a possibility that you might not be suitable for the medication in several ways including failing the blood tests, severe side effects or relapsing which is realized after post treatment.

As for me, I went from pimple skin with some red marks to pimple free skin and healing marks that is fading off quick post treatment, near flawless skin can be achieved with accutane but at your own risk and cost. Search before and after for accutane patients. Hope this clears up your curiosity about the medication.

I dun get it.

Why izit dat a lot of ppl like to resort to quick-fix methods to solve ur skin problems?

Especially those that have been proven to have side effects in the long-term future?

Why not juz focus on researching and getting a set of skincare items that benefit you in the long run?

Ok, I give u guys a tip, if u ever wanna get skincare that will not make ur skin become worse and improves it in the long run, go for the ones that offer "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and must be more than juz 7 days. Bcos that proves that the manufacturers already did their detailed research and have ab.so.lute confidence dat their products are applicable across a wide range of customers. Best if it's up to 90 days!

And dun forget to get a proper diet!

Deep-fried and grilled stuff are a no-no, best avoided whenever possible. ;)

You must be referring to "Roaccutane". I've heard a lot of celebrities are using this but the damaging effects to the liver outweighs the benefits on one's skin. Another side effect is extreme skin dryness, cracked lips, and depression.

I'd say this is good advice.

I use to have cluster cystic acne before and very oily skin, could've fried an egg if not for the gross pus, shiok to burst them though. Anyway from personal experience, look for cleansers and products with salicylic acid, preferably SLS/SLES free - ditto for shampoo if you have problematic scalp. There's no instant miracle, results will probably show on the third to fourth month. For occasional zits, I use Nexcare's acne patch, which works great soaking up pus overnight and helps in the recovery. Also thankfully my skin heals well so not many scars.

Lastly, drink more water and ensure you poop well and regularly - best detox, which means intake of fibre, vitamins, dark leafy greens, fruits etc.

U can take roaccutane, just that u can lower your dosage and still achieve results. For example, instead of taking 1 pill per day, u can take it once every 2 days. That way, side effects is reduced or even eliminated.

I've taken before 2 courses of roaccutane amounting to a total of at least 14 boxes of this medication and I'm still alright. now, I am still taking the pill (3rd course) at my doctor's recommendation for maintanence. I am taking it once every 3 days. What I see are not bad effects like dry mouth or skin or damaged liver but controlled acne.

I think cosmetics are a waste of money, and for one's skin to look great and glowing, it has to come from within. (yea, im a tree hugger of sorts)

Be healthy and stay out of the sun and you will look great- regardless of what age you are. I kinda like lines on a guy's face. Have crow's feet, furrows on my forehead and laugh lines down both sides of my mouth, and honeslty, I dont really case.

But if you must use products, ensure you read the ingredients first. Some chemicals like Sodium Laureth Sulphate can fuc1< yr skin up.

I just use the good old bar of soap and water for my hair, face and body. And no pimples and no dry skin for many yrs now!

Though I get my soaps from organic stores and they come with stuff like lavender in them cos I like the smell of lavender. If you have some money to spare, try Adeva cos it sells great soaps that smell really nice.

  • 2 weeks later...

I never used to do anything special for my face. Not even a face wash besides the usual shower. But as i grow older, i get more concern about my face.

For the past few years i am using biotherm homme anti-aging cream. I still don't use special face wash.

Just wondering what do people here use for their skin care regime.

Yes, in a way i am blessed. But still no defense against aging.

To be more specific, below are the items i use now:

1. Biotherm Homme Force Supreme for the face

2. Biotherm Homme Force Supreme for the eyes area

3. Biotherm Skin Vivo

I usually just apply it after i shower in the morning as i get ready for work.

No toning or cleansing or moisturizer. Although because i fly very frequently, sometimes i apply moisturizer when i fly as it gets very dry.

Damn, i sound so woman.

Having a regular daily skincare regime shud start from young, esp guys tend to get oily skin and most likely have to deal with pimples and acne since teenage days. Ageing can start as early as the mid-twenties, if the skin is not properly taken care of, plus not getting d sufficient nutrition and rest (therefore lack of skincare is not d onli contributing factor).

We r exposed to all sorts of pollutants from d environ all day, esp for those wif oily/oily-combination skin have bigger pores and this is whr dirt can clog d pores easily. It is therefore recommended dat d person get a cleanser to clear out this dirt, otherwise over time when d outermost skin layer (stratum corneum) undergoes its own overturn/renewal, d dead skin cells dat r not shed off will prevent these dirt from escaping n that’s when pimples form. :)

I'm currently using:

{on daily basis)

  • *Artistry essentials Balancing Cleanser
    *Artistry essentials Balancing Toner
*Artistry essentials Replenishing Eye Creme (since I sleep late rather often) :P
*Artistry essentials Anti-Blemish Acne Treatment (only when I have pimples)
*Artistry essentials Balancing Lotion SPF 15 (as daytime moisturizer)
*Artistry essentials Soothing Creme (as nightime moisturizer)

{about twice a week)

  • *Artistry essentials Polishing Scrub (I get a lot of dead skin at my nose! :()
*Artistry essentials Pore Cleansing Masque (for the face)
*Artistry essentials Moisture Intense Masque (for the neck)

(haven been doing mask lately though, somehow gotten a bit lazy :P)

Is exfoliating/scrubbing absolutely necessary? I don't exfoliate at all and some friends say must exfoliate regularly; others say no need cos got no blackheads. Kind of confusing huh...

YES. For all u know, d outermost skin layer, the stratum corneum has d ability to exfoliate itself. Like all biological life, even d skin cells have a life span. They live, they die and they regenerate. Trouble is not all dead skin cells are able to be shed off fast enuf b4 d new skin cells come in, and that’s when one loses d glow from d new skin cells and d skin becomes dull. Like I mentioned up thr, if d dead skin cells happen to trap d dirt b4 u can clear it soon enuf, pimples form easily. That’s why thr r scrubs, facial masks n peels in d market. Scrubs clear out d pore dirt n dead skin cells (to a certain extent) while masks and peels shed off most of d remaining dead skin cells.

Seriously, soap and water.

But Im very careful abt the toiletries I use as Im allergic to sodium laureth sulphate. SLS - which is found in most liquid soaps, shampoos and toothpaste gives me dermatitis. So I use organic stuff and bar soaps for everything.

And the occasional pimple gel to get rid of the odd spot that crop every ever few months or so.

I started taking care of my skin at a very early age. And I'm beginning to realise the importance of it as I push 40 and I'm thankful for starting young. I used to buy very expensive products from Clinique and Khiel's (when I could afford it) but I strongly feel that any decent product will do, so long as you have a foundation regime. Then your wrinkles/spots are kept at bay. Just remember the 3 simple steps to skin care:

1) Cleanse

2) Tone

3) Moisturise

Every morning and every night!!! You sure won't regret one :)

Only to lie like this between the bombs, dreaming away and not alone, because time was very short.

Depends on individual. In fact, I don't scrub or exfoliate at all because if I do, I will surely have a break out.

Hmm.. I have a damn oily and acne prone skin. soap and water just makes it worse. Went to the national skin centre to get the anti bacterial cleanser which I used twice daily. Besides that I use loreal facial scrub every morning to get rid of the blackheads. Inexpensive but it works. After which I use a toner which I attained from a salon, which I feel is the best ever. Finally I use garnier oil control whitening cream for my acne scars. At night I use vichy for my moisturizer instead. If I happen to have breakout, for me I apply salicylic acid on the pimple and it usually goes away..

Whoa. in that case, anybody has any recommendations for a facial scrub for oily-sensitive skin? i think i should get one now.

A scrub contains very small beads that are responsible for clearing out the dirt in the pores. The beads should not have any sharp ends that may damage the skin further. Furthermore, a scrub gel should be pH-compatible with the skin, i.e. weak acidic or pH 5.5. I’m personally using Artistry essentials Polishing Scrub which contains jojoba beads from the jojoba plant itself. ;)

We shouldnt scrub more than 2 times a week. Best to do it at night during shower, after than apply toner and sleep. A normal inexpensive scrub does good job. Scrub exfoliate the dead skin and remove the dullness of your skin. For cleaning product, I use the normal range. For toner and mositurizer, I buy branded stuffs. I apply sunblock everyday. Never walk out without sun screen
