Cooking Your Own Dinner?

Recommended Posts

I just bought 2kg of organic white rice mix with 20% Of brown rice to try a week ago. The brand is 3 elephants from Thailand. Was advised to add just a little more water when cooking. My bf seems to love it and I find it much easier to eat then the normal hard brown rice. Just sharing what I learned. Cheers

This already mix white and brown rice it stated that no need to soak one just add little more water then usual to cook.

is that so?

take a photo

by the way , all other brown rice didn't state instructions for soaking, but all clever housewives go and soak it for a day for that tender-loving soft rice for their child and husbd
Our mums are not stoopid, don't  u agree

Sometimes I think some stall’s brown rice not really that authentic, or they mixed with white rice or add some coloring or something. The effect is quite apparent when movement is not as smooth and easy.

for me, I believed in balanced and in moderation

don't have to purposely go and dig and purchase organic or this and that rice

followed this and that

ended up , it is still about the same

but some ingredients or pdts if u know it is no good, then don't touch it

Oic, but brown rice really good, after switching to it, very good for regular movement. Think many people at work are very constipated and stressed, making them grouchy and bitchy, highly recommended for daily detox.

I dont think anyone dare to anyhow add colouring into the rice as Singapore is very strict with food regulations.

Only white rice movement is smooth and easy as they are those refine rice. The more healthier rice have husk so is not so smooth lol

Maybe they mixed with white rice.

Eh, by movement I mean bowel movement. White rice not that smooth in that respect, low fibre compared with brown.

I think food sold in Singapore is safer than other parts of the world. We are known for being super kiasi. However, if I see some food imported from a certain country, thou shall not be named here, I try to avoid as much as possible.

OK, I wanna to start cooking my own food instead of eating out. Other than cooking instant noodles, I hv zero cooking experience. My idea of balanced meal is 1 meat 2 veg with rice and that seems easy enough to prepare.

For a start, I need advice on the cooking equipment to buy eg. rice cooker. Size wise, I guess those 0.6L rice cooker is more than sufficient? Also, should I bother with those multi function type ie. can cook rice, porridge etc.

Just to cook 1 person's portion, how many tablespoons of rice is needed?

Any advice appreciated as I've a small kitchen and try not to clutter it with things I dun need.

Dun have to limit to cook a little at a time, you can cook and refrigerate/freeze, pack meals for the next day too, more economy of scale. A larger rice cooker means can cook flavored rice like so, some come with racks so you can cook rice and steam other food at the same time - multi function appliance.

Yeah, cooking several meals at one go is more convenient. What sort of food do you chill/freeze for next day consumption? Hv to consider nutritional value too.

I usually portion/separate out and chill soups and stew, the latter taste better anyway after the flavours develop overnight. You can add some fresh veg when reheating.

Also pack and chill asap, and reheat food properly.

There are quite a number of vids on youtube on meal preps and  type of foods too.

i cook only over the weekends as usually on weekdays will be tired after work.  i also love to cook for groups of friends who come over to my place.  my specialty is peranakan food like pongteh, buah keluak, babi assam, kuah assam pedas etc

Suck my tits and I'll lick your balls.

Lick my arse and I'll suck your cock.

WHat do you know about our lineage and the customs of it for CNY? Why most of our restaurant r cantonese , b it how they have branch out:
I m sorry from Imperial Treasure, Crystal Jade, Paradise grp, Tung Lok etc and several old names like Fatty Weng and some chinatwn restaurants, they r all originated from Cantonese cuisine
Alot of the chefs r from Canto, Guangdong, HK too (judging their accent):
