Indonesian And Malay Songs / Singers / Bands

Recommended Posts

To those who appreciate Indonesian and Malay songs, this would be our thread.

I am Filipino but I am very blessed to experience ASEAN by living/studying/working in Indonesia, Malaysia and now Singapore.

Interacting and being open to other cultures especially Malay has been an eye-opener to me and gave positive memories of the three countries I've mentioned.

One of the part which made me feel connected with the country are the songs (of course food and the local friends goes 1st and 2nd).

Please post your favourites too.

My first pick would be:

Menhitung Hari by Krisdayanti for Indonesia

Bunga-Bunga Cinta by Misha Omar for Malaysia

Tenda Biru by Desy Ratnasari

What a sad song, this was one already playing when I arrived in Batam in 2000 . Just by hearing it, without the video even, I can feel the despair from the one signing it. What happened in this song manifested in later in my life 😞

It would be good if we could describe what were the sing lyrics about in overall.

MUARA HATI by Hafiz and Dato' Siti Nurhaliza

Translation of the last two parts of the lyrics:
For the love in your heart, I believe you are for me. Though footsteps set us apart, love will bring me back to you. For the love in your heart, let me possess... Uniting in your heart, only yourself and me... For the love in your heart, let me possess your heart... Love...

PENGLIPUR LARA by Hazama

Lyrics fuse traditional Malay pantun (poems) into modern music, a storyteller whose aim is to solely entertain... Don't be slighted if whatever he tells coincidentally sounds like you cos that's his job... :D

SESAAT KAU DATANG by Ramlah Ram

If it is true that you fallen in love with her

Please break up with me in a nice way

Despite my feeling heartbroken

It's certain that I am not willing to relent
