It also seems to indicate that all the holy books say about the end times. After you have done stripping , what can you do to top it off the next time to attract the crowds. A number of them participated in this annual event because it is for a good cause, but also it is fun thing to do. Some of the names may not be familiar in mainstream media unless you are within the theatre world, where they are like mega-huge. I.e. Idina Menzel, (Rent, Wicked and most recently If/Then) before Frozen. Viola Davis, before The Help, How To Get Away with Murder, Kristin Chenoweth, Charlie Brown, Wicked, Glee... Nathan Lane... etc. So many of these actors made it on the stages of Broadway first prior getting mainstream media attention. Broadway Bares is a an annual burlesque show with different themes. It is more than just stripping. It is about creating a fun event that draws into the pool of talent available in the theatre world. They have been "stripping" as guest says, for years and still manages to raise a lot of money for AIDS related charities. They do not show everything. It is burlesque. I have friends who perform in it. True, they may be a bunch of "unknowns" but these unknowns are getting booked in small roles in shows like CSI, Law & Order... etc. so today's unknown maybe tomorrow's big star. Sure you may pooh pooh it as a bunch of struggling unknown actors stripping for charity, but even the basic act of stripping takes time to rehearse, time spent at the gym, etc. to make a good show. Maybe true in Asia but definitely not so in the USA where the event originates. As doncoin points out, it is all in aid of charity. If u listen to the end of the vdo u hear the announcer referring to BCEFA. That is "Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS". Equity is the US Actors Union n BCEFA was set up decades ago to help raise funds for AIDS charities. The naked show is part of a much larger fund raising drive n is a hugely worthwhile effort. bluerunner Posted May 8, 2015 Report Share Posted May 8, 2015 During my stay in U.S., I remember there was a theatre group in SF (rhinoceros theatre group or something like that) that produced play with mature-theme; yes, frontal nudity involved.
