Alternatively, u can go to any family clinic and request blood test for hiv. Cost $25 n result will get abt 3 days....

If you do the llod test for HIV and it turns out positive, they will inform the relevant authorities right ? That defeats the purpose of the OP in wanting an anonymous testing I think ...

Don't go to your regular GP as they know who you are.

Check the MOH website, there are many private clinics offering anonymous HIV test.

When you turn up at such clinic, just say you want to do anonymous HIV test.

If unfortunately the test result is positive, the authorities will not be notified, unless you want to continue with medical treatment at CDC.

Just in case some of you do not know, Department of Sexually Transmitted Infections Control (DSC) Clinic or commonly known as Kelantan Lane Clinic has a Men only clinic on every Wednesday 8am to 11am.

More information on http://www.dsc-sexualhealth.com.sg/showpage.asp?id=43

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

SINGAPORE - When it comes to public sexual health services, a majority of patients would prefer to have specialised clinics for individual groups such as youths and homosexuals, according to the findings of the first study on the subject here.

The study also raised concerns about young people below 20 becoming sexually active at a younger age and men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM), citing the need for sexual health prevention and intervention programmes specifically tailored for them.

The Department of Sexually Transmitted Infections Control (DSC) Clinic - which conducted the study two years ago - has since set up a Men's Clinic on its premises, seeing between 30 and 40 patients every month.

The clinic, meant for MSM, has only male staff to make for a less intimidating environment for the patients.

The setting up of the clinic in January is in line with the study's results, which showed that more than 70 per cent of the 130 MSMs respondents felt the need to have a clinic to cater to their needs.

As for having other dedicated clinics, 61 per cent of all 1,000 respondents said that it was essential to have a clinic catering to young patients.

While setting up these specific services could encourage the targeted groups to come forward for screening and treatment, such moves may also be viewed by some quarters as sending out the wrong signals to society.

National University of Singapore sociologist Paulin Straughan noted that some conservative groups would argue that abstinence is the best prevention but the "truth of the matter is that there are these alternative lifestyles in the community".

Citing past findings that homosexuals tend to be at a higher risk of contracting Aids, she said: "Having a dedicated clinic would reach out to them and promote control … to turn a blind eye would, in fact, result in unwanted consequences."

While such a service could be beneficial, the challenge lies in getting a positive take-up rate, added Associate Professor Straughan.

As for youths, the Singapore Children's Society's Dr Carol Balhetchet pointed out that information about sex is already widely available.

Dr Balhetchet, its director of youth services, said that reaching out to youths would be best left to other youths "who have gone through the hard way" as adults will be deemed as judgmental.

However, she added, a supportive family would strongly encourage youth to stay out of trouble.

The DSC Clinic study, Patients' Perception of Health Services for Sexually Transmitted Infections in Singapore, was published in the July edition of the Singapore Medical Journal.

Led by Dr Gavin Ong from the DSC Clinic, the study collected 1,000 individual responses from patients over a four-week period in May 2009.

Dr Ong told Today that the findings were in line with international studies and anecdotal observations, where confidentiality and competency of healthcare workers were key concerns of patients.

While the issue of stigma was not highlighted in the study, Dr Ong said this was one of the study's limitations since the respondents were patients of the DSC Clinic.

Still, he added, the study, being the first of its kind here, serves as a good reference point on patients' needs.

hi all,

am new in here.

wondering where is the nearby country to do hiv test? i dont feel good walking to AFA (singapore).

is malaysia a good choice? if it is, can recommend any reliable place?

There's nothing wrong with AFA - as Briax has pointed out, the testing is anonymous.

Feel free to leave your IC at home and not give your real name if it makes you feel better when you go for the test, okay?

Hi there, anyone know any lobang for free anon HIV test? Absolutte used to give the free test coupon out, but not anymore now. I'm experiencing some symptoms similar to that of caused by HIV and very anxious now, I need to go for test asap but $30 for an anon test by AfA is a bit too expensive for me...

When i went to the test last october, i did ask the counsellor who was counseling me, he told me the coupons are given free at saunas and clubs. As I said absolutte used to give it out, but i don't see them doing it anymore nowadays...

@guest I had recurring mouth ulcers and seborrheic dermatitis.

DSC's tests are not anonymous... For some reasons I can only go to anonymous test and it's only offered by afa...

They do offer anonymous testing, at $20. You just have to be upfront about it, although they do ask if you want it on record.

If I'm not wrong, regardless of where you go, including Afa, if tested positive, your records will have to be submitted to CDC

Please allow me to correct this.

If you have done ANONYMOUS HIV testing at AFA Anonymous HIV testing clinic or any of the six anonymous testing private clinics, you are not required to give your name or ID. Even you are tested positive, you do not need to give your name and ID.

However, please do not get confused with the DSC Clinic at Kelantan Lane with the AFA Anonymous HIV testing clinic. AFA uses the DSC clinic at specific hours for anonymous testing. Any time outside those specific hours, it is not anonymous and it is run by government clinic staff.

For complete information on AFA Anonymous Clinic hours, read here. http://www.afa.org.sg/anonymous.php

For information of the other six private clinics offering anonymous HIV testing, read here. http://www.oogachaga.com/congregaytion/website/detail/15

@briax: thanks a lot! I'll pm u later using my registered profile. :D

@guest: yeah but in anonymous test, as the name suggests, I don't need to give my particulars out so what they are going to report is just the number(s) of people tested positive, minus their identities.

You can always call up AfA office to request for a free coupon as veith mentioned.

The coupons Abs used to give out were also from AfA so what better place to get it other than the one providing the free tests instead?

If it's as simple as that then why did AfA make the 'coupons' in the first place? Why didn't they just make the test free for everyone, or people who go for the test can opt to give a donation of any amount?

Hi guys,

I went for HIV Test at DSC yesterday and it turns out to be negative after a window period of 82 days and 64 days after 2 occasions of exposure.

Meanwhile, while doubting the accuracy of the test because of the window period, I also suspect that the nurse forgot to put the chase buffer into the specimen and as such, affecting the whole test.

Should I be worrying? :(

Firstly, the chance of u geting HIV from people sucking you and you cum in their mouth will be like striking Toto. You really need to make use of the internet like google to read up more about how you can contract HIV. or you can visit Bw link : Discussion on STDs

That said, however, you might get other Sexually Transmitted Disease (STDs) like gonorrhea, etc.

Anyway, since it is already 2 weeks since you had sex, did you have any symptoms like, e.g. itchy cock, burning feeling while peeing, etc.? If you have those symptoms, you might want to go and see a doctor for it.

Back to your question. The above post by Bryan are a list of places you can go for testing.

Sorry no offence. I dont understand some of the ppl here, scare of hiv but yet still go sauna or find random of ons. Get a life pls, there are many other plenty of meaningful things to do beside getting horny shots or dare yourself for some excitements.

I have a friend who gt std from his partner...he was so depressed and luckily its was able to cure. After being cured, he kept going for tests till he make sure he is clean and yes he even went for multiple hiv tests too. He became paranoid after this incident. I was happy for him cos he is clean....but he told me he still have sex after tat...he said dating still must see whether suitable after first sex..GOSH! I told him does sex matters if u like the person! He said is fine to have sex, the most go for test again....I told him, u must be enjoying the fear feeling after each test liao! He just laughed at me. After hearing all these, i got zero respect for this fren. Sex first, test later then decide again if positive. SIAO....zero IQ

You need to understand how a guy operate in life.

When he is talking common sense you are talking to your friend.

When he is talking sexual/bizzare things you can't stomach your friend dick is talking to you. :D

Notably, I will like to add on that sometimes there is a lot of stigma attached to STDs. End of the day, they are also viruses and bacteria causing organisms and can mostly be cured. At lease, I feel, STDs can be prevented by taking safe measures.

On the general outlook, there are a lot of viruses and bacteria that are beyond our control such as H5N1 (and all its mutations), dengue, etc.

In such cases, the receivers (the ones giving the blowjob) are on the higher risk and your risk here is low.

FYI, the window period is 3 months and it is only advisable for you to get tested 30 days after your date of exposure.

So if your date of exposure is 5 nov 2013, you can only get tested after 5 Dec 2013.

The more sex partners you have, the higher your chances are of getting HIV/ STI unless you take necessary precautions. Recommended testing frequency is at least twice a year if you are sexually active.

I have just tested negative for HIV.

One if the main reasons I went for the test is becoz I put my cxck into a partner's anus and poke a few times raw. After that I stop doing it and put a condom on and proceeded with sex. The partner is someone I found in sauna. I have done it a couple of times.

Just asking, is such acts dangerous? There was no ejaculation nor exchange of bodily fluids within the few pokes in his arse. More over I am the top, so I guess this is quite safe, isn't it? I would like to do it again if the risks are low. Thanks.

So i came back from taiwan 1 month ago. At that time i visited a few saunas, and subsequently i noticed a painless ulcer that develop on my glans penis. It went away spontaneously without treatment after about 2 weeks. At that time the first thing that came to my mind was syphilis. I was pretty sure i was having a primary syphilis infection. But i did not have the courage to get it checked. (syphilis can be easily treated with anbitiotics).

Anyways, i came back to Malaysia and visited sauna for once. and had some really bad and traumatic experience. knowing that having syphilis infection will increase the chance of contracting HIV, after much struggle and contemplation, i have decided to get myself screened for HIV n syphilis. FYI, i have my own principles of not engaging in anal sex because i find the risk of contracting HIV overly high and i cannot live with the the fear of getting HIV. so at most i go for oral sex, which has a much lower risk of getting HIV. (doesnt mean no risk though)

So as i went for clinic this morning, i discussed with my doctor about my condition. initially i wanted to get a pencillin injection because CDC recommends the IM injection for all stages of syphilis. Nonetheless, my doctor advised that i should get a syphilis screening n check my titre before deciding on the treatment. Of course, he asked me to screen for HIV as well. He tried to probe and ask me about my sexual history but i was rather uncomfortable sharing about it.

Anyways, the purpose of this post is to raise awareness of HIV transmission. I have been having sleepless night worrying about me getting HIV. I am actually in the medical profession, getting HIV could jeopardize my entire career. The anxiety that is involved is anyone's imagination. I would strongly urge everyone out there to abstain from sex or having multiple partner if possible. At least, pls do use latex condom for protection purposes.

I am going through this emotional turmoil which i cannot share with anyone else, not even my close friends or family. This struggle is really debilitating and i wish no one to ever suffer in my postition. Thus, this sincere advice goes out to everyone out there, pls do think twice before engaging in any sexual activity because the consequences are really detrimental both physically and emotionally, and worse still, mentally.

My test results will be out by end of next week. Let's hope for the best.
