Where To Take Std / Hiv Test? Specialised Stis Clinic & Anonymous Hiv Test Centre (Compiled)

I suspect I am infected with genital warts on my anus. Do you know of any doctors who are gay friendly? I think I am more comfortable with a male doctor. A female doctor may tend to be more judgmental perhaps. If I am not wrong, straight guys won't get genital warts on their anuses right?

Different gay-friendly STI clinics in Singapore, depending on your preference:

1) DSC Clinic (public clinic, with subsidised rates for Singaporeans):

https://www.dsc-clinic.sg/Patient-Care/Sexual%20Health/LGBT-Sexual-Health/Pages/LGBTSexualHealthDetails.aspx#para1

2) Dr Tan & Partners (private clinic, at 3 different locations):

http://www.drtanandpartners.com/stdhiv-clinic-singapore/

>> If you're at the Robertson Walk clinic on Fridays 6pm - 9pm, you can also ask to speak to a trained Oogachaga counsellor, at no extra charge.

For both clinics, you can call ahead & ask for an appointment with a male doctor, all of whom are known to be gay-friendly & professional.

Good luck & take care!

I read that for some people anti-bodies can show up after one week.

Now was told that AFA have new generation test kit that can detect one month after. But cost $10 more.

But I believe to be sure still need go after 3 mth window period.

So be kiasu- go after 1 week, then 1 month and then 3 months. If clear, then clear.

Hi there,

Just to clarify the differences:

During their regular operating hours, the DSC Clinic DOES NOT conduct anonymous HIV tests, as they run like a government sexual health clinic. They provide screening, testing & treatment for HIV & a range of other STIs, but you'll need to show your NRIC. Their staff are very professional & LGBT-friendly. This is their website: https://www.dsc-clinic.sg/Pages/index.aspx

After office hours, AFA Singapore runs the Anonymous HIV & Syphilis Testing Service there, at the same location. This is their website: http://afa.org.sg/whatwedo/support/ats/

So do check out the websites to make sure you go to Kelantan Lane at the correct time for the correct test!

Take care,

Oogachaga

Thanks man! I realised it after I went there and test are not anonymous during operating hours.

Somebody recommended me to Dr. Tan & Partners @ Robertson, as they do anonymous all day.

Anyway...Guess what's my result?! Negative... Hahaha

Just FYI, Dr Tan & Partners (at Robertson Quay) conducts anonymous HIV testing during their clinic operating hours. Here's their website.

Our Oogachaga counsellors are available onsite at the clinic on Fridays 6pm - 9pm to provide counselling support as part of the HIV test.

Just curious if STD will be reported to MOH if found positive?
I realise there's anonymous hiv testing site and private clinics, but is there anonymous std (for gonorrhea etc) testing site?
The drtan clinic std testing seem to be expensive

From my readings, I believe only postive HIV results need to be reported if no anonymity is provided.

just did anonymous hiv testing at Kensington clinic (serangoon gardens). clinic was empty. two packages: $74 normal and $150 4th gen (est, all inclusive (consultation plus test)). the doc push for $150 one, so I took it, result out in 10mins. no fuss no frill no unnecessary waiting time and save the embarrassment if any. used to go dsc, definitely more affordable for similar tests. just felt more comfortable going to a 'normal' clinic where people thought I'm just having a flu or fever. doc also recommended another blood test for asymptotic infections for $100.

I went for some STD health screening earlier this week. I have ask my doctor. He said MOH will surely need some statistics like what sort of STD, age, gender, race etc. and they are not interested in who that person is particularly.

So, I believe there is some extend of anonymity.

I did some research on the pricing of STD health screening on these clinics:

  • Dr Tan and Partners
  • Kensington Family Clinic
  • Shim Clinic
  • Q Medical

save the money, go to AFA at kelantan on selected days to get tested. they are cheaper too.

4th gen test only $40, not $150 at private clinic. if u r neg, u sill have $110 to spend on a meal and a new shorts or shirt to celebrate ur negative result.

Totally agree with the statement above.

Afa uses the same 4th generation kit as the other clinics, so if one just needs a quick test  for HIV, AFA is the better choice. I really see no difference the technicality of the test administered by clinics and AFA, except for the huge profit margin in a commercially-run clinic and that "atas" feel after the test.

Hi guys, like to ask something here.

I have a friend undergoing HIV treatment at CDC. The first blood test detected HIV Load is 448. After medication for a year, blood test again and the reading drops < 40. Last month the blood test shows Undetectable.

Is it possible?

Does it means the HIV virus is not present any more?

Taken from: http://www.healthline.com/health/hiv-aids/undetectable-viral-load-transmission-risk#ViralLoadTest2

What Does “Undetectable” Viral Load Mean?
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is medication that helps to keep the virus under control. For many patients, HIV treatment can substantially lower viral load levels, sometimes to undetectable levels. That’s a good thing—it means the medication is working.

A word of caution: “undetectable” doesn’t mean it isn’t there or that you no longer have HIV. It simply means that your viral load is so low that the test is unable to measure it.

Dsc is the only Public STI clinic that manages, treat n diagnose STIs in Singapore .

All patients are required to provide their details for registration as requirement by MOH and are advised to make an appointment at least 3 working days in advance. Thank you.

wah! good strategist and economic-planner!
I m thkg of going for a random check too, would AFA ask a lot of questions like when /where did u go/do recently? what have u done?

tbh, not a very big fan of their new pink carpet programme. if you identify yourself as gay in the form they ask you to fill out, you get segregated to the 2nd level where they have specialised "pre-counselling" or whatever. i was quite taken aback when i went for testing after they implemented this. felt that it kinda defeats the purpose of ANONYMOUS testing. just by observing people going up and waiting at level 2, you can tell who's gay.

I asked and there isn't an opt-out option (of the pre-counselling).

  1. If i'm doing regular tests, it's annoying to go through the same questions every single time.
  2. the pre-counselling adds more than 15mins to the process for something that does not add value to me.
  3. they ask sensitive questions that i might not want to answer.
  4. (just my personal experience) I sometimes feel a sense of presumptuous moral superiority with the whole "im-gonna-educate-you" / "im-gonna-provide-support"

yes, education of the risks is very important. yes, it's backed up by statistics and all. yes, they mean well and providing support could mean the world to people out there. yes, it probably does add value for the first-timers. yes, I get ALL of that. I know the risks. I know the consequences. I know my own sexual behaviour and risk appetite. I've read the stories and testimonies.

But it's a little presumptuous to think that everyone needs, and would be happy with, this service and the way it is being implemented for every single time you go for testing. At the very least, give people the option to choose.

I DO NOT want to be singled out in the clinic for a HTHT and be touchy-feely with a stranger. I DO NOT want to tell ANYONE how many times I have sex in a month, or if I use a condom every time (Shall I share my favourite sexual positions too while im at it?). I just want to go in, get tested, and GO HOME.

will definitely consider going to another clinic.

Hi guys can you share which clinic do you usually go to for anonymous HIV tests? Or do you go for those free ones in saunas?

Are there any recommendation for any clinic that is "less awkward"?

Thank you~

Went down to DSC Clinic for a test. Took 2 tests - HIV and Syphilis, and they ended up giving me both tests for free. Donated $30 anyway, since I was actually mentally prepared to pay for both tests. :D

I want to add that besides getting tested for HIV -- get tested for everything -- gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, herpes, HPV, warts, and whatever else can be tested for. A lot of people only concern themselves about HIV, but some are actually infected with other diseases, and passing them along to unsuspecting partners.
