I read an article from SGBoy (quoted verbatim below) "SGBOY ranked most popular gay portal in Singapore" http://www.sgboy.com/scoops/article.php?a_id=121&c_id=19 Congragulations to them.

The Nielsen/Netrating survey showed "108,000 Singaporean visitors in December 2005" to SGBoy. Taking the numbers at face value and the fact that Singapore's population is 4 million : 108,000/4,000,000 = 2.5% of Singapore visit SGBoy.

I would assume that visitors to SGBoy are gay or bi or gay inclined. Can we thus approximate that 2.5% of Singapore are gay, bi or gay inclined ???

Compared that with a CDC (USA Government) survey in USA where 4% Americans describe themselves as gay/lesbian. http://bw2.9.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=267

What do you guys say.

Unprecedented consumer research involving gay portals in Singapore puts SGBOY.COM ahead of its nearest competitor by 41%!

Singapore - 23 January 2006 – More gay surfers in Singapore visit SGBOY.COM than any other similar sites according to the latest figures by Nielsen//Netratings’ Market Intelligence service. Such research on consumer behaviour involving gay portals is unprecedented in the conservative island state.

SGBOY.COM which turns 7 this year was visited by more than 108,000 Singaporean visitors in December 2005, almost 41% higher than its nearest competitor. The site popularly known for its dating personals and the region’s busiest forums attributes its popularity to its highly-accessible and localized contents.

“This latest audit by an independent and credible market intelligence agency affirms what we have known all along about the popularity of SGBOY.COM amongst the local gay community,” said SGBOY Director Salmon Lee.

Today, SGBOY’s online community consists of more than 80,000 members in Singapore and the region. The site is expected to launch a new regional portal later this year in a major re-branding exercise.
