Manure fans are notorious for racial discrimination against their own black players on social media.

They are glory glory hunters frustrated after so many years of being the butt of PL jokes. They hit out at their black players bc during SAF era, they are an all white team.

The conversation on Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona actually belongs in a club football thread, rather than a Euro and World Cup thread, unless you want to ask the moderator to change the name of the thread and turn it into a catch-all discussion about professional football in general.

Lionel Messi finally led Argentina to viictory in the CONMEBOL Copa America, and now the UEFA Spanish La Liga salary rules are forcing him to leave Barcelona, because even though he had already agreed to cut his salary in half, they said it is not enough to allow him to stay, which is completely unfair.

Thought reason was because Barcelona already too indebted and can't afford Messi...

The funny thing is he denied in a press conference just some weeks ago any transfer and said he will stay in Italy... and was complaining about these "rumours".

Cristiano Ronaldo transfer rumours: Juventus forward fuming at 'disrespectful' talk

18 Aug, 2021   ESPN

Cristiano Ronaldo has lashed out over the transfer rumours regarding his future, accusing people of being "disrespectful" yet stopping short of committing his future to Serie A giants Juventus.

The former Real Madrid forward, who scored a record 451 goals during his nine years at the club from 2009 to 2018, was linked with a shock return to work under Carlo Ancelotti again this week. Ronaldo joined Juventus for €100 million in July 2018, and Spanish late-night TV show El Chiringuito claimed on Monday night that a sensational return to LaLiga was on the cards.

Transfer news - Cristiano Ronaldo informs Juventus he is not seeking move away from club

Published 16/07/2021 at 21:48 GMT+8

Cristiano Ronaldo has told Juventus he wants to stay at the club, according to reports in Italy.
Rumours of a potential exit from Juventus for Ronaldo have been swirling for weeks, with the forward’s current deal expiring in June 2022.

Doesn't seem to be rumours any longer...

He is not playing for Italy any longer and flew out of Italy to Lisbon today.

Cristiano Ronaldo said his goodbyes to his team-mates at Juventus' Continassa training ground on Friday and later boarded a private jet to Lisbon; Juve boss Max Allegri says Ronaldo told him he has "no intention" to stay at club; Man Utd now in talks to sign Ronaldo as Man City pull out.

Manchester United are closing in on a sensational deal to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.

Multiple sources have told Telegraph Sport that United have moved ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign Ronaldo. Talks progressed quickly on Friday morning with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes although, as yet, a deal has not been finalised.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed on Friday that Ronaldo wants to leave Italy

He is 36 and should gracefully retire from soccer in my view.

Dear @Bern@BlinkOnce@G_M@HendryTan@IkuTube ... can one of you please merge this thread with the previous general football topic called All About Football / Soccer - Premier League / Fifa / Euro Cup + Live Football Coverage (Compiled) ... and perhaps rename the merged thread Football / Soccer - FIFA World Cup / UEFA Euro / AFC Asian Cup / Champions League / Premier League / Other Events, News, TV Coverage (Compiled)?

I am dismayed to see members repeatedly posting unrelated rumors about which clubs Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, or other players might join in the future. That has nothing to do with UEFA Euro 2020 or the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. General club football and two specific international football events are different topics. If he wants this to be a catch-all football thread, he should've renamed it, because club posts are currently off-topic.

Other old threads that can be merged into a compiled topic include ... World Cup Final ... Rooney Pushed Ronaldo ... Just a quick note, @G_M, the Euro Cup and UEFA Euro mentioned in the new title of this thread are different names for the same event. UEFA Euro [YEAR] is the official name and Euro Cup is an old unofficial nickname that very few people use anymore.

I agree that it would be nice to merge all of those older football topics into one long-running thread but it might be too much work for a moderator to do all of that at one time. Maybe they can put it on a "to do list" and add one here, one there, until done?

Most readers here don't understand how to watch, play, or enjoy football (soccer), which of course means that many readers aren't able to discern the differences between events, or how those competitions are run. So here is a quick primer. At the highest level, you basically have international football (national teams) and professional football (club teams), which feature many of the same players but in very different settings.

FIFA is the highest governing body for football around the world. One level below FIFA in what's known as the "Football Pyramid" are the 6 continental confederations (UEFA, AFC, OFC, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, and CAF). The third level consists of all the national federations (such as the FAS, English FA, US Soccer, and so on). Numerous age group events for national youth squads are run by those organizations as well.

In international football, FIFA is in charge of the sport's most famous event, the World Cup, which is held every four years, and crowns the best national team on the planet as champions after a month of action in the host country that was preceded by numerous rounds of qualifying. On the female side, of course, there is also a Women's World Cup.

In addition, FIFA previously ran a competition called the Confederations Cup, which was held a year before each World Cup as a test of readiness for the nation hosting the World Cup to see how many problems they still need to fix ahead of the big event. It featured the top representatives from the 6 confederations plus specially invited teams. Going forward, test events will be more localized, such as this fall's FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar.

Each continental confederation also runs a primary international event, with some taking place every four years, and others happening every two years. These are the UEFA Euro 20##, AFC Asian Cup, OFC Nations Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup, CONMEBOL Copa America, and CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

In recent years, Europe has added a lesser event called the UEFA Nations League, which was designed to replace most friendlies with more meaningful matches. The first CONCACAF Nations League wrapped up earlier this summer and the CAF African Nations Championship had already been taking place for more than a decade. Long-running regional events like the ASEAN Championship (AFF) and its counterparts (EAFF, SAFF, CAFA, and WAFF) fill this role in Asia. The OFC and CONMEBOL do not hold comparable events at this time.

In professional football, FIFA runs the Club World Cup, which has long been a small and lightly regarded affair. But plans are now in the works to turn it into a much larger competition aimed at truly creating a full-fledged club version of the World Cup. This change has been pushed back due to the Coronavirus Pandemic but the transformation is expected to be completed in the next few years.

The 6 confederations each sponsor an annual Champions League (although South America's version is called the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores) featuring the top clubs competing to be crowned best on their respective continents. Each confederation except the OFC also sponsors a secondary club competition for teams that missed their respective Champions League. These are the UEFA Europa League, AFC Cup (awful name), CONCACAF League (awful name), CONMEBOL Copa Sudamerica, and CAF Confederation Cup (awful name). In addition, the current season marks the debut of the third-tier UEFA Europa Conference League (awful name), while organizers in this part of the world are still hoping to revive what would be a third-tier ASEAN Club Championship.

And next on the professional side are the national level domestic flights with which most people have at least some familiarity. These include the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue Un, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, and their remaining counterparts in Europe. In Asia we have the Singapore Premier League (formerly called the S-League), Malaysia Super League, Indonesian Liga 1, Chinese Super League, South Korean K League 1, Japanese J1 League, and so on. The US has Major League Soccer which includes a couple of Canadian clubs, and Mexico has Liga MX, while South America features the Argentine Primera Division, Brazilian Serie A, and similar counterparts.

Messi and Ronaldo AS INDIVIDUALS have something to do with UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The CLUBS THEY PLAY FOR have NOTHING to do with those two events which are contested by NATIONAL TEAMS.

If there was anything wrong with my post, @G_M would not have combined the topics, or changed the title. NATIONAL TEAM FOOTBALL and PROFESSIONAL CLUB FOOTBALL are different as explained by Guest Meanly Preacher.

Thank you for taking the time to put this "flow chart" together. It is very well organized and much easier to understand than trying to wade through hundreds of longwinded "dissertations" on Google which would never be as clear and concise anyway. Just want you to know that at least one Blowing Wind reader appreciates your considerate effort and has no desire to make rude remarks about your extremely thoughtful good deed.

Well if at least one reader appreciates the effort, that is more than enough to make me feel like the effort was worthwhile, so you are very welcome. And don't bother paying attention any rude remarks, because they are not even worth noticing, much less answering.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored both goals for Portugal during a 2-1 win over Ireland in FIFA World Cup Qualifying to break a tie with Ali Daei, who played for Iran from 1993-2006, and become the all-time leader in international goals with 111. He got too caught up the moment, however, and forgot about the rule against players celebrating goals by removing their shirts, which means he will be suspended for this weekend's game, and must now wait a few days longer to start adding to his new record.

wmhtcegrbmailkpv_1630558942.jpeg

Sitting third on the all-time list behind Ronaldo's 111 goals and Daei's 109 is Malaysia's Mokhtar Dahari who netted 89 from 1972-85, followed by Hungary's Ferenc Puskas who drilled 84 from 1945-56, with Zambia's Godfrey Chitalu, who got on the sheet 79 times from 1968-80 rounding out the top five. Pele is 7th with 77 from 1957-71, followed by Lionel Messi with 76 since 2005. Robert Lewandowski ranks 20th with 69, followed by Neymar with 68Fandi Ahmad is tied for 44th place with 55.

Here is a graphic displaying the top seven. Messi will probably move into the 80s and take over fifth place by the end of this year.

Just for fun, here's a graphic showing how far Ronaldo needs to go to catch the top female scorers, although the ordering is off.

After two people are tied for fifth place, the next person is in seventh place, not sixth place. Idiotic how common that mistake is.

Does anyone else think Ronaldo's upper body muscles are TOO well defined?

Don't really bother because, if Ronaldo slept in my bed with me too troublesome, need to change the pillow every day considering the one tube of hair gel he takes every day...

@singalion All the more no reason to retire gracefully when one can still break and extend records. He's not my favourite player by the way.

I am aware plenty of players are playing longer these days, than previously before retiring.

Some years back it were mostly the goalkeepers that played above 35y (Buffon 43y, Dino Zoff 40y).

The only (non goalkeeper) player that will retire late will be Ibrahimovic 39y.

But what I don't understand is why Ronaldo (36y) needed to change from Italy to England.

There is a sort of personal vanity with him. He wants this fame.

In the end in England he might end up on the bench most of the plays while in Italy he probably had started in all matches.

And his value declined. in 2018 Juventus bought Ronaldo for 195 mil S$ (105 BP) , his transfer to Manchester now just cost 24 mil S$ (13 mil BP)...

Every soccer fan knows he's vain and attention-seeking but no one can deny that he's still world class. He won't end up on the bench, it's more probable that they will build the team around him.  Also, let's not forget his astronomical salary. No manager in his right mind will do that.

Lionel Messi tallied a hat-trick to account for all of the goals in Argentina's 3-0 win over Bolivia in World Cup Qualifying on Thursday. That moved him ahead of Brazil's Pele and Iraq's Hussein Saeed into a tie with Zambia's Godfrey Chitalu for fifth place in history with 79 international goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, marked his return to Manchester United by scoring half of their goals in a 4-1 win against Newcastle earlier on Saturday. The first broke the ice in stoppage time of the opening half and the second put the hosts back in front with just under 30 minutes to go.

Gay men are still men. The media likes to portray us as "yaaas queen" sprouting, flamboyant, bitchy divas, which we can be sometimes. But we can also have traditionally masculine interests and behaviours.

To be fair in that regard, quite a few of the images posted on this page are shirtless photos of Cristiano Ronaldo, but personally, sure, I seem to fall into that category of those rarest gay men, in your interpretation, who enjoy playing and watching football (soccer) as well as several other sports.

To be fair in that regard, quite a few of the images posted on this page are shirtless photos of Cristiano Ronaldo, but personally, sure, I seem to fall into that category of those rarest gay men, in your interpretation, who enjoy playing and watching football (soccer) as well as several other sports.

Of course, of course. There are many different types of gay men on that spectrum, but I honestly haven't seen any gay men who genuinely enjoys watching or talking football until coming across this thread is what I'm saying :D.

Another week and another new achievement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

No opponents are safe regardless of the flag they might be waving.

The latest in a long line of 251 goalkeepers surely wishes he retired.

What an impressive six-year ride on the international front for CR7.

He gets the job done on the field for his country as well as his club.

And he was also confirmed as Premier League Player of the Month.
