shrimps / prawns lover (aquatic - not for cuisine)

I told you i m "hot and excited" (but not yet to the extend of strip naked, kekekeke)when it comes to shrimps now , i felt addicted to some "shrimp pills ", maybe in two mths time, all my passion might just die down

I feel like there should be a standard way of concocting the water, i saw that other ctries are also selling it in dept stores, the stores dont sell pets or such...

By the way, a lady (the 1 and only woman whom i know that likes such stuff and photography) friend of mine dislike messy designs, she keeps nagging at me "less is more" as though i do not know that concept..She uses direct tap water and add them straight into her aquarium tank , they are hardy so they all survived..

Just to put things in perspective, here's how they were placed side by side. Sorry ah, my main tank looks "unkempt", because I'm growing my plants for a friend who is setting up his tank.

ok i get it le, it is really one big and one small, i like your lighting and the overall background wall/furniture colours to match it

Now i know why your super tank will not evaporate much because u covered it

So good one still can help friends to grow , envy tat u hve such a Huge tank!

Used to own a bottle from Krishaven 2 years ago, the thing is that the miniature ecosystem is just too self-sustaining that it has gotten to a point where I grew extremely bored with it. Kinda misplaced it at a dark corner of my table and I guess something might have upset the balance as the whole bottle became murky and the two shrimps disappeared. Still, i guess aquatic animals isnt my kinda thing, i'm more into ephiphytic and terrestrial plants.

Yup that's the issue with "self-sustainable" system. There isn't much participation and involvement. So can I guess your interest is more into orchids, Tillandsia, ferns?

YES ORCHIDS! I LOVE ORCHIDS!

haha if you check out my instagram at bryanthegardener you can see the orchids i grow hehe.

The thing about hobbies with low participation and involvement is that you don't feel needed and uh...involved. That's why i grow plants, i really like the idea of reap and sow, makes me feel more appreciatable about my own efforts

I've got only two tillandsias, still figuring them out and yea, ferns aren't my thing, kinda boring and the spore bags creep me out.

Orchids when deflowered , very tough to grow back!

very tough, but possible and that makes it all the more precious and fun to grow.

i'll rather have a challenging orchid to grow that produces 3 or 4 the most flowers each time than one that lasts foreve in flower and collects dust

As to answer clickclock qn deeper:

Do u live near CCK, qianhu ? U want to go all the way to there?
Have u tried the store at Plaza sing,  basement 1 : should have enough variety to wow u too....

I m not sure is the lobster(mini) those w the pincer that I rear two before and died the following day, and I stopped all pet-rearing after that incident....
They are actually crayfish

Some experts said they prefer big tank to swim and most said that good to let them have wet areas and dry lands (cos like crabs and hermit) , they tend to climb onto rocks(dried area) or sand/beach area, so good to "subdivide " their future homes....

the shop who told me that to rear these mini lobsters/crayfish (equally cute: just like shrimp)  is like a breeze eg ez to feed (he didn't tell me must dry land or the abv), he said no need much water like fish, who knows they all died the next day, and I rem mine was blue again, just like my shrimps....
I was devastated and it was only recently then I started again

oh so both of  u know one another, and by the way, i noticed that my IE keep hanging when using bw, no issue when using firefox! do u face the same issue?

So gd that u hve frens in bw, (knowing ea other real names and seeing ea other bodies, kekekeke) i dont hve
My frens are the shrimps  , my new year r the shrimps and talking to a PC (bw thread on shrimps) , Sad rt?

Qianhu should hve experts to advise you, clickclock. n any aquarium shop should be able to help u : the one i mentioned at PS, should have sufficient to wow u w their mini lobs or crayfish though their setup is of cos not as large as the biggest industry player like Qianhu
Not sure why mine died? maybe the space is really pathetically small for them

When my fren's fren donated those shrimps to me, he packaged them in a small pathetic box and then pass to fren, so two days later, two died, cos i have not prepared for the new tank yet, i have NOT aged the water, hence at that point, i cant transfer them to my nano tank (from the takeaway box)
By right, he should go get those plastic bags where most aq shops should sell, when pp buy aq fish from them....

I got mine from frens, their fd and staples from t.bahru market or East aquatic ocean, Green chapter
Clickclock pls go and find the thread/if not create one new discussion on orchids, so that i can ask u qns there... (the orchids are a painful thing, once whither no more le, many said throw it oneside or throwaway ,, dont see it, later (which means 1 yr later) it will blossom again ie why the gay shopowner of highclass boutique floral said dont bother to spend time, just throw, his shops sell all sort of high end floral stuff)

Coolbriz

U didnt go out to celebrate today? so obedient and faithful?
May i know how many shrimps are there in your big tank? including all small size shrimplets/fries too

Oh i stay in an average hdb apartment, my plants are simply grown at the corridor.

Oh and i'm sorry, i'm not really super keen to get the lobsters? they're just a curiosity to me and my house doesn't have any space to put a tank.

Yes, they seem to have longer life span and thus not easy to hatch eggs. They have been around for at least 3 yrs since I bought the tank and I counted them once a while and still going strong :)

it's almost maintenance free as you don't need to do anything to the tank. From what I understand, the shrimps feed on micro-algae in the water. The only setback is that I got to buy the "water" from crs haven to top up the tank as I simply do not want to risk adding normal water into the tank for fear of upsetting the system.

i seem to have reached my max allowable quota for posting image here but I will post more images of the wonder shrimp tank once I find out how to work around with the image quota issue.

Shirtless, it's your turn to post yr shrimps pic pls :P

I have googled for u , the snais should be able to live for 1 yr to 18 mths (v rare that it will grow beyond 2years) and pls note:

Most snails are not particularly picky about the water quality but they do prefer hard calcium rich water. To keep their shells healthy and free of damage, they will need calcium rich water that is free of copper and other metals.

I trust you didn't put all your rainbow crabs, red thai crabs and vampire crabs  together w the shrimps right? did you house them separately?

the crabs are also house in a normal fish tank with full of water?

No. They are being housed separately. Rainbow crab in one tank. Red Thai crab and vampire another tank. Shrimps another tank. My two species of crabs are "land" crabs and they are not able to survive in full water. Thus, they live in a dry setting.

Nice CRS! I think if your substrate is darker coloured, it will bring out the contrast of your CRS. But then your the other shrimp will get masked in the darker substrate. What's the darker coloured shrimp next to the CRS in the right pic?

By the way, isn't it very difficult to remove the snail if they died or will they pollute the water?

I can't remember the cost of the Eco snail so can only estimate it for less than $5. My snails died after some time and I just left them in the tank. What is left behind are their shells.

The one beside CRS is the black crystal shrimp. It's glossy black if u look up close. I was told that those black substrate won't lasts long and the most only 3years and the color will fade off. So to save the hassle I settle for normal aquarium substrate. What does those snails feed on and does the shrimps disturb them?

I've been keeping fish since March last year. One of my "grandma" guppies just passed on a few days ago - she was the last remaining one from the first 6 that I started off with. Have since had many babies, more than I can count. Does anyone have any advice on how to grow a planted tank with a good grass coverage? I'm still struggling in that respect.

Pretty cool black crystal shrimp! Snails generally feed on algae and debris. Eco snails dig into bottom debris and scavenge for food too. Shrimps don't mess with snails and they sometimes will just rest on the snails' shells and that's about it.

Shirtless

why is your ground/bedding/substrate is pink  or my eyes playing trick on me??

Urs r red shrimp? No wonder coolbriz sugg 2 u to get dark/black soil instead

as for the the snails, u can fb ask those sellers they will tell u exact price

by the way, diff species/ diff grades will vary the price of shrimps

that s why my area and your crs is sellg at tt price

Lfs (local fish stores) prices shdnt vary drastically. Also try to stick to your usu lfs cos if they recog u for long, they will offer u discounts or u ask for it, dont jump here n there unless v necessary

good tht it s land crab hence wont need big tank! Gd for those who hve space constraint to get this type

mine died the following day was land too, i gave it w little water but no dry area n it died!!!!

Take a photo of your crab/crayfish setup, pls

Ons is one nite stand, cool briz but pls ignore such topic
