hmm...I think the local company here do not want to be publicly associated with LGBT, they are ok with hiring LGBT but not ready to be seen as a LGBT friendly company, say SIA, I m sure there are lots of gay working there and also they wouldn't mind to fly in participants to Singapore for the event but sponsoring the event is a totally different story altogether, park royal pickering which enjoy good business due to their next door location for the event will also not want to risk their reputation, like it or not, we are still a conservative or pretentious conservative society.

Park royal at pickering sponsored pink dot before. Get your facts right.

The campaign launch event of Pink Dot 2016 was held at 7pm on Thursday, 21 April 2016 at The Projector, located on level 5 of Golden Mile Tower along Beach Road.
Hosts Deryne Sim and Paerin Choa started the event off by having a recap and showing the audience the previous year's campaign video.

Superb video showing how someone can reconcile her faith and sexuality. Everyone of us in the LGBT community struggle for some kind of reprieve from being stigmatized in our society, but the greater struggle for me comes from within. I think adopting a certain philosophy or faith is in essence a never-ending form of seeking and appropriating, and this is exactly what spirituality means. The question isn't "What do I believe in?" but "What does it mean to live in faith?", and even up to the present I am in the process of reorienting my worldview into actual practice. Personally my faith comes closest to christianity, with influences from other spiritual sources as well.

I am shocked!  Bhutan the happiest nation cannot even tolerate gay people?

Are you shock also that  Middle eastern countries  cannot tolerate gays and will throw gays down from high buildings ?! My male Asian friend was told off by the Arab men for just wearing an underwear in the  male changing room in a five star Dubai hotel , he was told to change with towel , no underwear to be seen ! That's why no ck , anf , David Beckham  type of adverts to be seen there !

With so many sponsors, should be have a lot of money to spend for the good of the community beyond pink dot itself.

For the good of the community beyond pink dot itself, the other community already have their equal rights given for free and take for granted. The other community already got the support of everybody including the homophobic people which they say are the silent majority. You seem to indicate the homophobic people which is the so call silent majority never lift a finger to help the other community and need the help of minority supporters to do every job for them.

To add on, there are a lot of gay people doing community work.

That paerin guy is fucking irritating with his act cute pattern. Is he donning a wig? Which sane male person would wear a shaggy bob in 2016, tropical singapore? Un-un-unbelievable!

I'm sure he has alienated and turned off quite a number of straight allies with that fucking wig. He thinks he's a lawyer?!

He has kinda accepted it while he was still alive ? No ?

So I'm not surprised if any of the gay pride parade do really take place in SG.

It always looks so fun from the viewpoint of me standing around by myself and not knowing a single person there. I guess introverts like me have little to contribute to the merrymaking. :P

I do find the Reaction Color Dot events on the same day to be hilarious and amusing though. Humans are so silly.

Just look for other introverts standing around. Make eye contact with them and eventually both have to talk to each another :D. 2 less lonely people.

The thing about introverts is that we are very skillful at not initiating conversations. We may want to but it would go against our nature. Haha :P

Hahaha. I'm an introvert too. But it helps talking to fellow lonely people cause at least it's a common topic. "Hey you alone too?".

Bravo Pink Dot for tackling topics with minority voices within the community!

As a social group of people, we are already a minority within the population, and though it's tough to continuously push for equal rights from the government against our religiously straight counterparts and anti-homosexual lobbyists, we ourselves within the community must realize that discrimination doesn't just end there. There is more to the picture than a Gay Chinese Male asking for his rights, there are the other ethnic races - minority or not. There are the lesbian women, transgender men and women. We are all not so different, but yet we criticize each social division so harshly. Turn on your grindr, you see profiles explicitly stating no FEMS, no MALAY, no SISSY - or you verbally mumble to yourself "Ee Yer, why that one so Ah Gau so flamboyantly! So Embarrassing to our people!". I mean comon guys, we are very progressive people, you have ought to do better being the racial majority! I'm glad pink dot is highlighting showcases on folks that do not often get much attention within the LGBT community, and it's heartwarming to share their love, joys, hard truths, pain and sadness altogether. Happy Pink Dot Folks!

I would say it is actually possible for 2 introverts to not talk and simply play with their phones until the event is over, where they walk away in different directions. :frustrated:

unfortunately the government stand by their own view and they are not going to risk loosing the support of the majority for the sake of the minority for now, until maybe the minority became majority..... US is a bit far to draw comparison, maybe when some of the Asian countries legalized......10 years ago we don't have casino but now we got 2, yap so things do change ;)

Casino brings money to their pocket.

Supporting LGBT rights make them lose money.

Wow, thats strange. I visited Dubai years back and stayed in a 5 star accommodation too. Although I didnt walk around in my undies, I was constantly cruised and molested to a point where I actually considered moving there! HAHA. The cab driver, front desk worker, retail assistants....many of them are gay and repressed. And I was not even at cruising places. Im talking about going about shopping and doing my touristy stuff. They are bold and approach me even though I was with my boyfriend! They hinted to me all the time and even asked me point blank some of them, to have sex with them and while they asked so blatantly, they held my hand and stroked it, and looked me in the eyes with so much lust. Its amazing.

Don't  flatter yourself as if you are the only one , a lot of my friends also got it there as long as you are an Asian there ...it does not matter good looking , sissy , or not ....just ask the Asian airline crew who had been there numerous of times ...even the straights got it ....

I am wondering if sex crime against male there is serious? Whether a tourist would dare to report to the police if they got raped by a local

Despite the number of years of Pink Dot and increasing number of prominent and influential Singapore personalities lending their support, why can't our LGBT population doing something to free themselves from 377A??? This is a rhetorical question.

Seems like things have died down this year, even attacks from the "We are against Pinkdot SG" facebook group !

Is PinkDot interest waning ?

Just out of curiosity, are all the events on the Saturday only? Anything happening on the Sunday? Unfortunately I have a family thing on Saturday that I cannot get out of.

Funny you ask.  There is a World Blood Donor Day on Jun 4 also.  But I guess there is no clash as the people here cannot go anyway.  No offense, just find it very funny. ;-)

That's what I thought.  Many people don't find PinkDot very innovative and does not have any new ideas.

Just a word of caution to those attending.  Please bring your mosquito repellent cause there are people from overseas attending.  You don't want to get zika or whatever.
