Has anybody wondered that the more successful Pink Dot event becomes among the LGBT, the more difficult it is that LGBT would be accepted in Singapore ?  It is not bring the people together but creates a greater divide. My thoughts.

You mean making people realize that there are different types of gay..and respecting and accepting the differences, acknowledging that even among gays there r people who are behaving and dressing different from you, and u r totaling cool about it?

you don't need to bring people who are similar together, you bring people who are different together.

I think the Singapore mentality works like this:

If you are a man, behave like a man.

If you are a gay man, you are still a man, behave like a man.

If you are a man but now a transgender, then have a sex change operation and behave like a woman.

You should not be a man and behave like a woman.

If you are a woman, behave like a woman.

If you are a lesbian woman, you are still a woman, then behave like a woman.

If you are a woman but now a transgender, then have a sex change operation and have like a man.

You should not be a woman and behave like a man.

And finally, you should not behave in between.

Gender Identity without sex change operation does not work here and should not work here.  If you think have the wrong sex, you need to go for a sex change operation.

Sex is not fluid and should fluctuate with time.  It's either you are born with it or you go for a sex change operation and adopt a new one.

There is no in between sex.

Summarised correctly ?

Embrace diversity. Please

Singaporeans all realise there are different types, Singaporeans are not blind.  We have already made it too obvious. But that does not mean we should expect them to accept everything.  And also don't forget, there are some of us who are out to upset the society at large.  We ourselves do not endorse all "diversities" and we should not expect them to endorse them.  Diversity is good but there is a limit.  Are you expecting Singaporeans to accept this so called diversity as in Taiwan Pride ?

I challenge Pink Dot to have scantily dress men gay pride in the event and you will see the tonnes of forum letters condemning us.

If you look at the US situation now, while conservatives complains about the liberals, they still leave room for the liberals.  But liberals does not leave room for conservatives once the liberals gains ground.  So I don't expect the conservatives to give any chance for liberals to take a foothold here.  Too bad for us that the US has spoiled the market for us.

I don't see how Pink Dot has improved the lives of LGBTs here.  It's just a show.  And in return, we get more and more resistance from the conservatives.  I don't think that Pink Dot is doing us any good.

Pink Dot will not make things any better.  Just don't have a 1 day gala and leave us in delusion for the rest of the year hoping for a better tomorrow.

I don't see anything illegal or immoral in the video.

u mean it is prohibited or a taboo in Singapore for men go topless in the public?

if really there is a gay pride like this, if they don't like to see just don't go, no one force them to attend. Simple as that.

In your opinion, which aspects of LGBT lives need to be improved?

Who or what defines the limit?

I don't think those who are courageous enough to be themselves need 'endorsement' from other people.

Yes, the streets now belongs to the LGBT people.  No more space for the conservatives.  This is what's the liberals are pushing for.  And that's why the conservatives are pushing back.  Exactly what Chan Heng Chee said.  There is no future for Pink Dot, only a once a year event to spend some money and make believes.  I would rather fight for a civil union.  I think there is less moral justification to stop this.

Liberals have no limit.  Courage is a reserved word for the liberals.  Anyone else is a bigot.

How many genders are there ?

Conservatives: 2

Liberals: 31

So who is a "pangender" here ?  You better call him or her or it right, else you pay a six-figure fines.

Can Pink Dot champion this on Jun 4, please.  I think I'm a "third sex".

There is no limit, let's go all the way !  Pink Dot yeh !

New York City Lets You Choose From 31 Different Gender Identities

Posted By Peter Hasson On 12:37 AM 05/24/2016 In | No Comments

Individuals living in New York City can choose from a minimum of 31 different gender identities, many of which allow them to fluctuate between some version or combination of male or female identities.

Businesses that don’t respect and accommodate an individual’s chosen gender identity risk incurring six-figure fines under rules implemented by the city’s Commission on Human Rights.

[dcquiz] The list of protected gender identities is available online and includes options such as “gender bender,” “two spirit,” “third sex,” “androgynous,” “gender gifted,” and “pangender.” A city official speaking on background confirmed to The Daily Caller that all of the listed identities are protected by the city’s anti-discrimination laws, but said that the list was not exhaustive.

The city does not provide definitions of the various gender identities, but TheDC was able to define several of them from glossaries provided online by the University of Wisconsin and the University of California Berkeley.

Someone who identifies as “genderqueer,” for example, is a “person whose gender identity is neither man nor woman, is between or beyond genders, or is some combination of genders.”

A “gender bender” is someone “who bends, changes, mixes, or combines society’s gender conventions by expressing elements of masculinity and femininity together.”

Similarly, someone who is “gender fluid” is a person “whose gender identification and presentation shifts, whether within or outside of societal, gender-based expectations.”

If someone self-identifies as “androgynous,” it means they are “appearing and/or identifying as neither man nor woman, presenting a gender either mixed or neutral.”

“Two spirit” individuals are Native Americans “who have attributes of both men and women, have distinct gender and social roles in their tribes, and are often involved with mystical rituals (shamans).”

If someone is “pangender,” their “gender identity is comprised of all or many gender expressions.”

The full list of gender identities can be viewed online in a document provided by the city’s Commission on Human Rights.

The city’s gender identity guidance was issued in December but has been the subject of ongoing media attention in the past week. As noted by law professor Eugene Volokh, businesses can be fined up to six figures for knowingly using the “wrong” pronouns to refer to a customer or employee.

Seth Hoy, the Human Rights Commission’s press secretary, told TheDC that the guidance was issued to “ensure that every transgender individual in New York City is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve” but assured that that “accidentally” using the wrong pronouns “will not result in a fine.” His full statement is below:

The Commission’s legal guidance on gender identity protections under the NYC Human Rights Law addresses situations in which individuals intentionally and repeatedly target transgender and gender non-conforming people. Accidentally misusing a transgender person’s preferred pronoun is not a violation of the law and will not result in a fine. The Commission issued this guidance last year so that employers and individuals understand what the law says and to ensure that every transgender individual in New York City is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

And if you go to US, you have the right to go into the little girls locker room and parade naked. So would you be apprehended for indecent exposure ? No, not at all.  It's the little girls at fault.  The US government is asking the little girls to get use to seeing a grown man kukujiao.

Charlotte Observer: Girls must overcome ‘discomfort’ of seeing ‘male genitalia’ in locker rooms

In a defense of President Obama’s order compelling schools to allow access to restrooms on the basis of gender identity, the Charlotte Observer editorial board compared the discomfort of school-aged girls seeing male genitalia in locker rooms to the discomfort of white people being around black people in post-segregation America.

Now, if the conservatives are against this, they are BIGOT.

Pink Dot, please help spread this message on Jun 4.  There should not be any limit to non-discrimination.  People have the right to show their penis in the little girls locker room.  If the little girls has an issues with it, she can just not go in. She should learn to get use to seeing grown man's penis.

Please lah...we are not here to promote to such extend..We don't need people to understand why we are but to accept what we are. That's more than enough.

So is Pink Dot for us or against us ?

How much progress do we have ?

As far as I know.  Now, almost all Churches are going to wear white.

Pink Dot is the reason for them to close ranks.

I think Pink Dot will fade over time and become white.

Sigh.

Pink Dot is needed as an event in Singapore to rally the LGBT community and our allies together. It is also an event for questioning and younger LGBT kids to know that they are not alone; that there are LGBT adults and it is ok to be different.

Progress is made, by making the LGBT community in Singapore visible. No longer is the community in hiding, and in secret. We are taking the stigma, and shame away, and reclaiming our rights to be treated as equal citizens.

Churches can wear white for all they want. They have the right to express their religious beliefs. What they do not have is to impose their religious doctrines and beliefs down on non-believers' throats. Simply put, churches or any religious organizations can wear whatever colour they want. Wearing white simply means no drinking red wine.

Pink Dot will fade away some day, and on that day, it does not matter if you are gay or straight or whatever. Society would have evolved to be tolerant and accepting, and a person's sexual orientation would be the least important factor in a person's character.

Love.

I don't think LGBT are in the hiding as you make them out to be.   Our asian culture does not accept LGBT but we don't victimise them as LGBT has tried to make it out to be. Pink Dot's slogan Freedom to Love is a misnomer.  Nobody can stop you from loving anyone.  What Pink Dot wants is to repeal 377A, normalise gayhood and fight for same sex marriage.  Any progress ?  Even before any of these has materialised, what we get ?  A strong push back.  Progress ?

I don't think the Churches has the right to impose their believes on you.  But we all share the same country, the same parliament, the same constitution.  You want to change the law that we all share.  And you cannot say that they impose their believes on you because they want the law to reflect their believes.  It's just too bad that we have such a system.  We are the victims of the system that we have, not Christians.

We ask them for acceptance with a thinking that we SHOULD have acceptance and if they don't give us, they are at fault.  We do we need to ask for acceptance for a love that is between 2 person ?

Exactly.  Pink Dot is not about Freedom to Love. Love is an emotion.  Even the Jedi master cannot stop you !

We ask for acceptance but they don't give.  They ask for acceptance in that they cannot go against their believes, do we give the acceptance ?  So we label them haters and us lovers.
