It's pink dot season, and so of course the anti-hate loonies are in overdrive. Those incendiary "social-political" sites are in overdrive too.

Be careful what you say here. Be especially careful if you're arranging appts at these places. Who knows what sort of monster you might meet.

I don't feel any hate from anyone, and neither do I hate anyone.

What is this hate thing ?  Just because others do not agree with us, they hate ?   I don't think so.

So we also don't agree with them, we hate also ?

What is this world coming to.

Simply because it's clear that these articles are meant to encourage general resistance to Pink Dot. And to paint gays in the worst light.

That's just your thinking.  I've read the article and I don't see any bias, or anti-Pink Dot message there.  Toilets are not meant for sex.  I don't see any hate messages there.

Clementi town is a hotbed for hanky pankies and monkey businesses by the lay singapore public, not just gays. Just look at the number of cheap bakeries, hair dressing and beauty salons there. I walked pass one day and saw a police signboard near the interchange asking for witnesses to a skype sex cam blackmail by prc women. That place is fast becoming the second chinatown filled with streetwalkers, touters, pimps and perverts.

Precisely, everyone is an individual and there are bound to have different view, u can don't agree but don't need to hate but then there will always be someone trying to irritate and agitate you and the best thing to do is to simply ignore them, their purpose is to make you anger and hate them and if you do, then you fall into their traps...

Unfortunately the comments are quite true...all the "love" people talk about on BW; Such a far cry from whatever Pink Dot is promoting. Pink Dot vids can be very inspiring but the threads on BW unfortunately reveal the ugly truth. With that said there are still a rare breed of gays whose love is not all about hot bods and crotches, and whose lust is not base enough to make them do indecent things.

Straight people think the G in LGBT is all about sex but can we blame them ?  Just look at the pride events.  Scantily dress men on the streets.  What we portray is that we are not serious to settle down and have a family like we claim.  Can Pink Dot help to change that please ?

I've been to Clementi toilet before.  Those ah pek does not look like they are seeking love.  They just want fun.  Seriously, we want to jeopardise our image in defending them ?  We should in fact speak out against them  What has hate gotta do with it ?

The gay community, just like the world, is very colorful. It takes all sorts. Those who choose to focus on a particularly "out there" and "sexually demonstrative" fringe group to mock, condemn and demonise the entire LGBT community across the board just to undermine pink dot's efforts are very very shallow, ignorant, misinformed and silly. Again, it takes all sorts. There are bound to be empty vessals making noises from the other group.

SINGAPORE — A campaign urging the public to wear white to promote traditional family values will be held again — this time led by Christian pastor Lawrence Khong — to coincide with the annual Pink Dot rally championing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community next month.

The campaign was first held two years ago by Islamic religious teacher Noor Deros under the name Wearwhite, but Mr Noor said the movement has since moved on to focus on educational programmes, and has no plans to carry out the campaign this year.

Mr Khong’s iteration of the campaign is dubbed We.Wear.White, and calls on the public to wear white on June 4 and 5 as a “pro-family, pro-Government, pro-Singapore message”.

It comes as the Pink Dot rally, to be held at Hong Lim Park on June 4, is set to introduce a new format this year — allowing local participants to hold up placards instead of the customary pink torchlights, a move organisers said was aimed at letting people “have a say”.

The rally saw attendance grow to a record 28,000 people last year.

Mr Khong, chairman of LoveSingapore, a 100-strong network of Christian churches, said on the LoveSingapore Facebook page on May 19 that the campaign hopes to show that the church’s stance on heterosexual marriage and the “natural family” is in keeping with the social norms of “Singapore’s conservative majority”.

“It is a message to LGBT activists that there is a conservative majority in Singapore who will push back and will not allow them to promote their homosexual lifestyle and liberal ideologies that openly and outrightly contradict our laws, our Government’s stated policies, our national core values, and the conservative majority’s views on public morality, marriage and family,” said Mr Khong, who is also senior pastor at Faith Community Baptist Church.

The call was open to all Singaporeans regardless of race, language or religion, as long as they supported “pro-natural family values”, he added.

Mr Khong has regularly spoken out against homosexuality, and had also thrown his support behind the Wearwhite campaign in 2014, igniting vigorous public debate and prompting other religious organisations to interject, while Pink Dot organisers deployed additional security in light of the public opposition.

The National Council of Churches of Singapore said then that while it does not condone homosexual or bisexual practices, it also does not condemn those who are struggling with their gender identity and sexual orientation.

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) called for a non-confrontational approach and said that programmes conducted in mosques should not be seen as a movement to oppose members of the LGBT community.

When contacted on Monday (May 23), Mr Noor expressed support for LoveSingapore’s call, but said Wearwhite’s focus now is on “directed Islamic educational programmes” for youth.

“We decided that real education in contrast to sloganeering and campaigning is the key to an effective and long-term change,” he said.

Last year, LoveSingapore also called on church members to wear white to weekend services on the Pink Dot weekend.

Wearwhite did not hold a campaign to coincide with the Pink Dot rally, but it called on Muslims to dress in white on the first evening prayer to mark the start of Ramadan on June 17.

Mr Noor said it was done not as a counter-reaction to Pink Dot, but to spread awareness on the concept of “freedom and love according to Islam”.

In response to TODAY’s queries, Pink Dot spokesperson Paerin Choa cited churches and religious communities that accept and embrace LGBT people, such as the Free Community Church.

“In a multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-racial country like Singapore, with secularism at its core, citizens are generally accepting of diversity,” he said. “We believe that families should be built on love and understanding, rather than exclusion.”

The executive committee of Humanist Society (Singapore) also commented on LoveSingapore’s move, saying the group’s “repeated emphasis on the word ‘majority’ (in its Facebook post) is troubling”.

“In Singapore’s multiracial, multireligious society, no particular religion or group can claim to speak for the majority,” it said in a Facebook post. “The Humanist Society (Singapore) calls for respectful, informed discussion on the topic, based on reason, evidence, and compassion around the cause.”

Mr Khong could not be reached for comment as of press time.

Theres has certainly been no love lost between FCBC and members of the LGBT community - I could probably safely assume by now that FCBC isn't interested in gaining any new membership with such backstorys, which is just as well! XD

Before disregarding Christianity completely (or writing oneself off as 'beyond redemption') however, I would encourage those LGBT people who might have been demoralized by legalistic posts such as these to try Free Community Church (FCC) and/or New Creation Church (NCC).

FCC is an LGBT-friendly church that provides a support system for those seeking to reconcile th

Lawrence Khong just like the slave owners in America who incorrectly used warped misquotes from the bible to discriminate against racial minorities and hold them in chains, you do not get to similarly bully LGBT people. Lawrence you cannot abuse religious freedom to deny others of their freedom and human rights. Every time you speak against LGBT people you forget the lessons of Jesus who walked amongst lepers and you stand against Him. Jesus would stand with LGBT. You forget that primary lesson that Jesus says you should love people, but what you do Lawrence is not love and is not Christian.

I would also point out Lawrence Khong that you do not promote family values by encouraging people to harm and bully LGBT family members. Lawrence you actually work against the government and national interest by promoting discrimination against others.

Martin,

Speaking out against what's essentially wrong does not equate to discrimnation.
God's grace is for those who repent of their sin but not to those who seek to promote sin.

What's the main difference between LGBT and all other sins esp. adultery is that
LGBT do not feel and accept their sin and instead they seek to propagate and further their cause.

In Edmund Burke's words: "All that is necessary for the forces of evil to triumph is for enough good men to do nothing."

I’m a married heterosexual man trying to figure out the purpose of a “We’re not homosexual” demonstration. I’m a believer but do not subscribe to any particular religious order. From what I know of Christianity and Biblical teachings there is a saying that one should “Love thy neighbour”. Is there a Church interpretation that says, “Love thy neighbour (except for those of a certain sexual orientation)?”. From my knowledge of the biblical story, Jesus did not reject anyone who came to him for help or salvation whatever their sexual orientation genes might be. I’m also not clear on why a Christian would reject someone made by the same God as them on the grounds that they are not heterosexual. In the Christian teaching, are not all men equal under God? Alan Turing, the inventor of computers was homosexual and Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, was bi-sexual. Does this mean that Mr. Khong will forbid his congregation to use computers or go to a hospital? I struggle to understand the fear Mr. Khong has of this harmless minority of the population who are capable or making great contributions to society

No, kong is not from City Harvest, (which doesn't care about your sexual orientation as long as you give money.)

Kong has his own mega church which can rival City Harvest in membership esp now that the latter has fallen from grace.

Kong promotes magic, his grandchild borne out of wedlock and his daughter is or was at one time cohabitation with another man who is NOT the father of her child. Complicated, yes. Against Christian core values, yes. That explains why LGBT issue is his whipping boy.

Nobody is mocking any LGBT people here.  The fact is that these people are tarnishing the LGBT group and making it even more difficult to normalise same sex marriage. I don't support illegal acts and I have the right to say my piece. I don't accept Pink Dot as the representative of all LGBT people here.  So please stop trying to impose your brand on everybody here.

I cannot believe that till today, there are still those who will respond to his White Shirt movement under his hypocritical pretence of "heterosexual marriage and the “natural family” in keeping with the social norms of “Singapore’s conservative majority”" even after his very own daughter, Priscilla Khong, gave birth to a child out of the wedlock so many years ago. Really... people living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

吃了小红帽的奶奶后,大野狼就穿上了老奶奶的衣裙,

等着小红帽的到来,打算把她也一起吃下去,

但就算是披上了人装,兽心还是不变,

如何伪装,心还是。。。

No hate - agree fully.  But it's getting apparent that Pink Dot is trying to position itself as a representative of all LGBT whether we like it or not.  Nope, I don't agree with everything coming from Pink Dot.  I don't agree with Pink Dot putting up the Christian video.  I think it's not helping us at all.  Instead, it causes more hindrance to us.  Even my bochap Christian friends who are the live and let's live type, are now making negative comments.

Excuse me, not everyone here is as pretentious as you are, turning your face for others to slap you on the other side after you get slapped on one side. It is not hitting low and tarnishing the image of anyone or anything by retaliating back with the same type of medicine that we get served. It is only HUMAN.
