Six Ways to Cleanse and Prepare Healing Gems

Before you begin wearing any of your gems, you should cleanse them thoroughly. Cleansing is a very important process of preparing your gems – be they precious or semi-precious – before using them for healing purposes. And I don’t mean just washing them with soap and water. You do not know where your gems had been before they got to your hands so it is very important to cleanse them of any negative energy that might have become attached to them.

cleansegems.jpgThe following are six methods you can employ to cleanse your gems. Any one of these methods works as well as the others. You can choose to use either one method you feel most comfortable with, or even a combination of two or more.

Method 1 : Use Running Water

Leave your gems under running water for six to seven hours. This method is one of the easiest and requires very little effort. Running water is, essentially, a very powerful method of cleansing.

Method 2 : Bury in Earth

Bury your gems in some earth overnight. Come morning, rinse them off thoroughly. This method will work well for those who have a nice patch of garden with lots of rich soil.

Method 3 : Cleanse With Fire

Hold your gem in the flame of a candle. Keep it in the flame until the candle melts away. The powerful cleansing properties of fire will help to clear all negative energy.

Method 4 : Revive With Quartz

Place your gem amongst a heap of quartz for several days. This method revives the inherent energy of your gem through contact with the quartz.

Method 5 : Energize With Sunlight

For best results, you should make use of the most powerful source of Yang energy to cleanse your gem. After using any one of the previous four methods of cleansing, place your “cleansed” gem in direct sunlight to further purify and energize it…

Method 6 : Immerse in Milk

In addition to the other five methods of cleansing, all gems – with the exception of red coral and ruby – should be immersed in raw milk for at least three hours to remove all impurities. Substitute with soapy water for your red coral, and put your ruby in lemon juice. Remember to keep your gem completely immersed for at least three hours, whatever the case. This method will effectively draw out all the impurities present in your gem and dissolve them altogether. Whatever the combination of methods you choose to apply, it is good practice to include both methods 5 & 6. Combined with any of the first four methods, the last two will ensure you’re your gems are completely “clean”.

Rituals and Practices to welcome in 2019 the Year of the Earth Boar

ritualcny2019-1.jpg

Chinese New Year is the most important festival for the Chinese where the Eve and the first 15 days of the New Year are the most important. It is believed that both your attitude and behaviour throughout the 15 days will have a strong impact on how your year will turn out. Each of the 15 days has strong affinity with particular animal signs, which means that each day has the potential to be very auspicious for one or more signs.

Eve of Chinese New Year (4th February 2019)

Today is also Lap Chun – the first day of spring – which brings the promise of new beginnings and powerful growth energy. Although Chinese New Year starts after the Lap Chun, making 2019 a year that lacks spring or “growth” energy, you can still make full use of the fact that Lap Chun falls on the eve of Chinese New Year.

All you need to do is to make sure that you completely clean your house once again on the early morning, starting from the hour of the Tiger (3am – 5am) or the hour of the Rabbit (5am – 7am). You should light some incense to help cleanse the air as well as provide some offerings to your house gods, local gods and landlords. Today is the last day that you can mop, sweep or clean your house for the following 3 days (as cleaning during the first 3 days of Chinese New Year is believed to remove good luck from the home). You should keep all of your mops and brooms away in the cupboard before the hour of the Boar (9pm – 11pm) on CNY Eve.

ritualcny2019-2.jpg

On this day, it is customary for all members of your immediate family to share a good meal together. There are a number of important dishes which should be served during this dinner.

  • The most important would be a sticky rice dish, as this symbolizes family members staying close to each other, enhancing family cohesiveness.
  • There should also be a dish of long-life noodles, as eating this dish on the eve of New Year brings family members good health and a long life to the Patriarch.
  • There should be a prawn dish, which carries the meaning of ‘Ha Ha Siu’ – a life filled with laughter and joy.
  • There should also be a chicken dish, which symbolizes prosperity and togetherness of the family.
  • There should be a mixed vegetable dish with sweet corn (symbolizing growth), Lotus Seeds/ Lotus Roots (symbolizing a full wallet and many male offspring), Black Fungus Mushroom (Longevity), Golden Lily Buds (also known as ‘golden needles’ – symbolizing wealth), Cashew Nuts (the nut’s shape symbolizes a gold bar in ancient times, bringing wealth), Clams or Scallops (symbolizing the opening of new horizons) and White Cabbage (known as ‘Pak Choi’ – 100 types of prosperity luck)
  • There should be a Duck dish, such as roast duck or braised duck.
  • There must be a Fish dish, as this carries the meaning of abundance.
  • At the end of the meal, there should be a sweet dessert served, so that at the end of every endeavour, there will be a sweet ending.

All the lights of your home should be switched on before sundown and all windows kept open. After the Reunion dinner, it is important the family spends time together, united until at least 1 hour past the stroke of midnight. Younger members of the family should greet their elders with auspicious greetings so as to greet in the luck of the New Year. Firecrackers are traditionally set off at this time to welcome in the New Year with as much noise as possible to scare away any bad luck, and to create plenty of prosperity chi.

ritualcny2019-3.jpg

Prayers to either the God of Wealth, the God of Happiness or the God of Mentors should be performed, and after the prayers are done, the Good Fortune Lock Amulet should be placed underneath the pillows of every member of the family to ensure that the family prospers together.

Chinese New Year (5th February 2019)

Today, being the first day of new year, it is forbidden to sweep the floor. There should be no bathing (until 12 noon), no washing of your hair, you cannot get angry, cry or use vulgar language, and you should not drink anything bitter.

You should wake up early and dress in your new clothes (preferably with something red). Family members should gather together in front of the family altar and offer incense to their home deities and ancestors. After that, younger members of the family should offer their elders a cup of “8 precious sweets” tea and wish them ‘Kung Hei Fatt Choi’.

“8 Precious Sweets” Tea

Ingredients:
• 8 pieces of red Dates
• 8 pieces of candied Winter Melon
• 8 pieces of Rock Sugar
• 8 slices of candied Kumquat or candied Tangerine
• 8 pieces of candied Plums
• 8 pieces of dried Longan
• 8 pieces of dried Figs
• 8 slices of dried Pears
• 8 cups of water
Method:
Boil all the above for 5 minutes, strain and serve. Add more water if necessary. Tea should be sweet and fragrant.

It is best to be vegetarian today (at least till the hour of the Horse 11.00am – 1.00pm). It is also a good day to visit a temple and to offer prayers.

ritualcny2019-4.jpgMarried couples should give red packets to younger unmarried people that they meet today. Many people observe this practice for all 15 days of the New Year. It is believed that the more red packets you give out, the more money the year will bring to you. As this day falls on the day of the Rooster, which conflicts with the Rabbit, all those born in the year of the Rabbit must avoid eating Meat (it is recommended to be vegetarian for the day) and to avoid antagonizing or quarrelling with any Rooster-born.

Homes that have main doors opening to the South and Southeast are deemed most auspicious, and such homes should host home parties on this day so as to maximize their luck. Good hours to have your open house today will be from 11.00 am – 3.00 pm.

2nd day of Chinese New Year (6th February 2019)

This day is known as ‘Hoi Nian’. Being the 2nd day of the year, it is an important day for businessmen to make an offering to their business partners of cases of oranges. This carries the meaning of “Tai Kat Tai Lei” – an auspicious and smooth year and continuous growth of wealth. It is also customary for elders to offer their friends and business partners a slice of “Lian Quo” (Sticky Rice cake) symbolizing the cementing of their profitable partnerships and friendships.

ritualcny2019-5.jpg

Today is also a good day to pay your respects to your ancestors. This is traditionally a day when married children visit their paternal parents. Today is also known as the birthday for all Dogs, and if you are kind to a Dog today, it is believed you will gain new friends in the year and get some good news.

As the element of the day is Water, which represents Power and Authority, those born in the year of the Horse should start work today.

3rd day of Chinese New Year (7th February 2019)

Today is known as the Birthday of the Argument God (Chi Gou – God of Blazing Wrath). It is believed that if you go out today, there is a high chance that many people will want to argue or fight with you. Thus it is recommended to stay home today. If your need to go out, or work, you should cultivate more patience and control your temper. You should also carry the Apple Peace and Harmony Amulet with you or clip onto your bag. Those born in the year of the Snake should stay home, as it is a conflict day for you. This is a good day for those born in years of the Tiger, Sheep or Rabbit.

4th day of Chinese New Year (8th February 2019)

Today is also the day that your home Deities are believed to come back from their visit to the Yellow Emperor. Therefore it is customary to give generous offerings to the home Deities on this day. Suitable things to be offered include Green Banana, Dried Mushroom, Spring Onions, White Cabbage, Garlic Bulbs, Pineapples, Peanuts, Apples, Pears, Oranges, Apricots, Plums, Flowers and Candy.

This is an auspicious day for homes with doors opening to the South, Southwest or West, and lion dances should be done for these homes on this day.

This is a day for parents to pray for their children to study well and to score good grades. The Taoist would pray to Lord Wen Chang aka Wen Chang Di Jun while carrying Spring Onion, Garlic and Celery. This is a good day for displaying the Wisdom Pagoda on your child’s study desk.

5th day of Chinese New Year (9th February 2019)

ritualcny2019-6.jpg

This is the day of the Ox, and for business owners, it is a good day for having a lion dance along with prosperity rituals such as ‘rolling of oranges into the office’. This is also a good day for businesses in competitive markets to invite an image of the 9 Dragon General Kuan Kung into the office. Homes or offices with main doors opening to the Northwest, North or Northeast will also benefit from having a lion dance today.

6th day of Chinese New Year (10th February 2019)

The Lo Shu of the day is 6 and favours homes that face South or West. The day is also blessed with Peach Blossom Luck, so the single or unmarried should go to the temple and pray to Yue Lao for a partner. The day favours the Tiger, and those born in the year of the Monkey should do some prayers at the temple.

7th day of Chinese New Year (11th February 2019)

Today is ‘Ren Re’ – everyone’s birthday. For businessmen, it is a good day for feasting and eating ‘Yue Sang’ with friends and clients.

For Buddhists, this is another vegetarian day. A traditional vegetarian dish to eat today combines 7 kinds of vegetable in one bowl (Green Peas, Celery, Spinach, Broccoli, Lettuce, Grape and Chives (“Guo Choi”)in a dish eaten with plain rice porridge). This ensures you will always have an abundance of food to eat.

This is an auspicious day for the Rabbit, Dog and Boar, as you will have the luck to make your wishes come true. This is also a good day for making fresh investments. Homes with doors facing Northwest, Northeast or Southeast are very lucky today.

8th day of Chinese New Year (12th February 2019)

Do have another family reunion dinner if you are of Hokkien origin. It is customary to eat dinner together on this day.

Homes with main doors facing Southwest and Northeast are especially lucky today, and those living within such homes should invite their friends over to celebrate. However, it is important that you have the Tri-Coloured 5 Element Pagoda placed in the Southwest, the Pair of Carp placed in the center and the Goddess Kuan Yin with Garuda placed in the Northeast.

It is not a good day for the Dog-born. Today benefits the Rat, Monkey and Dragon, who should make special prayers for enhancing their careers.

9th day of Chinese New Year (13th February 2019)

Today is the Birthday of the Jade Emperor and it is an important date for the people of Hokkien origin. Typical offerings on the midnight of the 8th day (Rat Hour – 11pm – 1.00am) includes a pair of sugar canes, Incense, 7 cups of Chinese Tea, 7 cups of Rice Wine, 7 plates of fresh fruits, a Roast Pig, 2 Bouquet of Flowers, and Gold Joss Paper folded in the shape of ingots is often burnt as offering.

Traditional belief says that if the morning of the 9th day is sunny with clear skies, it indicates a year of big profits, while a day of cloudy skies and rain indicates potential loss.

10th day of Chinese New Year (14th February 2019)

A suitable day for additional feasting with friends and family. This is a good time for renewing old friendships and making new contacts. This is because the early days are reserved more for family, so friends and networking are given more priority during the next 3 days.

Homes that face East, and North will be most beneficial if you wish to gamble and win.

11th day of Chinese New Year (15th February 2019)

Today is another good day for visitation and celebrations as well as for starting work. As the Lo Shu of the day is 2, you should avoid overeating or drinking to excess. A suitable day for catching up with old friends and classmates. Homes with doors facing Southwest or South will be most fortunate today.

12th day of Chinese New Year (16th February 2019)

Today is another good day for visitation and celebrations as well as for starting work. As the Lo Shu of the day is 3, you should pay extra attention when driving especially if you born in the year of the Monkey, Snake or Tiger. Cultivate more patience today and avoid getting into arguments.

13th day of Chinese New Year (17th February 2019)

After so many days of feasting and eating rich food, it is good to have pure vegetarian food today to cleanse the stomach. A popular vegetarian breakfast would comprise of Hot Soy bean milk, eaten with savoury ‘Ham Chim Peng’ – (Asian fried bread).

14th day of Chinese New Year (18th February 2019)

Preparations are made for celebrating Chap Goh Meh. These include making ‘Tong Yuen’ (Rice balls) – these are sweet dumplings made from rice flour rolled into the shape of marbles and filled with sweet fillings such as Sesame seeds, Lotus seeds, Peanuts, and Red Bean Paste. The dumplings are served in a sweet soup cooked with ginger. It is a very good day for visiting your relatives.

As the Lo Shu number today is 5, you should carry the Tri-Coloured 5 Element Pagoda Amulet today.

Chap Goh Meh – Last day of Chinese New Year (19th February 2019)

fox-amulet-300x300.jpg 9-Tailed White Fox Amulet

This is also known as “Yuen Xiao” – Chinese Valentine’s day. In the past, it is traditional for single women to toss oranges written with descriptions of their desired partner into the river to seek a husband. However, in today’s modern practice, men are also known to practise this in order to find a suitable wife.

Candles are lit in paper lanterns and hung up on the outside of the home, and “Tong Yuen” is often eaten as dessert on the final celebration dinner of the year. In areas where a river is not available, Sky Lanterns written with their wishes are set free to soar into the heavens in search of their potential mates.

Look after your health by getting enough sleep, eating well and doing some exercise; also have the Healing Herbs Wu Luo or Garuda Windchime near your bed. Place the Golden Omani Padme Hum Prayer Wheel in the home to protect against bad energy and harmful people.

horoscope-forecast-monkey-300x300.pngYou are badly afflicted with the 5 Yellow star this year, as well as the 3 Killings. You need to stay vigilant to effectively nip all small troubles in the bud and never allow them to escalate. Display the Tri-coloured 5 Element Pagoda in the SW of each floor of your home and carry the 5 Element Pagoda Amulet at all times. Display the Treasure Vase with Black Tara mantra in your home sector of SW for wealth luck. Place the Treasure Chest Dharani in the home and the 4 Elements Mirror on your work desk. Carry the Annual Amulet 2019 together with the Tai Sui Amulet of the year to avoid misfortune. Display the 3 Celestials Windchime in the West and carry the Life Force Amulet.

horoscope-forecast-rooster-300x300.pngThe Rooster has the Victory Star this year, although your life force and spirit essence are not strong. Strengthen success by carrying the Windhorse Amulet or the Purple Crown Keychain. Display the Banner of Victory in the West and actively look for new ways to win and map out your success pathways and directions. Place the Great Increasing Vase with sutra of Yellow Tara in the home to attract wealth luck. Place the 3 Celestial Dragons Mirror or 3 Warriors in your living room to keep the 3 Killings affliction under control. Make sure you also carry the Anti-Evil Eye Amulet or Peacock Feathers Mirror Fan to control troublemakers. You also have the Natural Disaster Star this year, which you need to keep under control by inviting the Four Heavenly Kings into your home.

horoscope-forecast-dog-300x300.pngThe powerful feng shui #9 stars pays you a visit this year bringing you Completion Luck. You also enjoy the luck of the small auspicious which can bring you success in overcoming any problems you face. Wear the Wish Granting Mantra Ring and carry the Sum of Ten Enhancer Amulet to ensure all of your projects and work are completed successfully. You do have 2 negative stars that need correction, so you must place the Samantabhadra sitting on Elephant on your work desk and carry the Dorje Drolo Scorpion Amulet at all times. To improve wealth luck, display the Action Vase with wish-granting mantra of Red Tara in the NW. Avoid trouble by displaying the 3 Celestials Windchime in the West.

horoscope-forecast-boar-300x300.pngThe Boar’s life force is strong but your spirit essence is weak. Because this is your year and you host the Tai Sui, it is important that you carry the 5 Elements Mirror Amulet together with the Tai Sui Amulet 2019 and place the Tai Sui Plaque 2019 in the NW to ensure that no difficulties befall you. Boost your spirit essence with the Spirit Essence Enhancing Amulet, and strengthen your own sign by placing images of the Boar in the NW of your living room. Having the Completion Star with both Big and Small Auspicious means you benefit from carrying the Wealth Ship Amulet and the Lucky Cat with Treasure Chest Amulet. As this is the kind of year for you to reflect on life and to map out new directions, you should wear the Sun and Moon Mother Tara Prayer Wheel to invoke her blessings.

2019 Li Chun – All You Need to Know

22.jpg

Li Chun (立春) is the first festival of the Chinese solar year and falls on either the third, fourth or fifth of February. Known as “the Beginning of Spring”, it is the start of a new Chinese solar year when we are revitalized and look forward to a fresh beginning.

Additionally, egg balancing is practiced in many countries during Li Chun whereby an egg is balanced upright on a flat surface. This act is possible because of the alignment of moon and sun on this day, altering Earth’s gravitational field. In recent years, it is believed that depositing money during Li Chun symbolises steady income throughout the year. Many choose auspicious timings throughout the day to deposit money based on their own zodiac sign. This has evolved to modern practices of depositing money online.

Lucky and Unlucky Chinese Numbers

Chinese culture is very influenced by different beliefs about luck and especially numbers. There are numbers that are considered auspicious and others inauspicious. They even pay large sums of money to get favorable numbers for their phones, license plates, or apartments. The numbers considered to be auspicious are based on words that sound similarly.

– 1 – The number ONE. Referred to as the Yang, male, heavenly. It is considered an auspicious number.

– 2 – The number TWO. Two or Yin, female, terrestrial. It is considered a positive number. There is a Chinese quote that says “good things come in pairs”. It is usual to use double symbology in business and brands (Double fortune, Double elephant, double happiness …).

– 3 – The number THREE. The number Three sounds like “birth” in Chinese, so it is considered a positive number. The moon frog has three legs.

– 4 – The number FOUR. The number Four is considered an unfortunate number in Chinese and Oriental culture in general, because it sounds like the word “death”. It is avoided as much as possible.

– 5 – The number FIVE. Number Five is popular since it is in the center (1-5-9). It is also related to the five elements (Wuxing).

– 6 – The number SIX. The number Six is associated with the six senses (in Chinese culture the mind is added as a sixth sense) and with the maximum score when you throw a die. There is a saying that says “Double Six will make you happy”.

– 7 – The number SEVEN. Seven is considered by some Chinese people as ghostly or spiritualistic. The seventh month of the Chinese calendar is called the “ghostly month” and it’s said that the gates of hell are open for the dead to visit the living. In any case, in general, it is considered a neutral number, since it is shared by relatively few people.

– 8 – The number EIGHT. The number Eight in Chinese sounds like “prosperity” or “wealth”, so it is considered a lucky number. Large sums have been paid to obtain combinations with this number in license plates and mobiles.

– 9 – The number NINE. The number Nine was historically associated with the emperor of China, who often wore nine dragons on his clothes. It sounds like “everlasting” for which it is considered auspicious.

18 Taboos to Avoid During Chinese New Year

  • chinese-new-year-taboos-01b-300x171.pngEveryone should be in a festival and joyous mood, creating a joyful and hilarious atmosphere. People should refrain from arguments. Parents should not scold or punish children, and everyone should adopt a conciliatory attitude towards everyone else.
  • Women should refrain from using knives or scissors, as these are implements associated with anger, danger and the cutting off of good luck.
  • chinese-new-year-taboos-03b-288x300.pngDo not sweep the floor or dump the trash on the first day of New Year, as this will take away wealth luck from the house.
  • Do not have a lunch nap at noon; otherwise people will be lazy all year long.
  • Do not wear black or white to visit friends, as this brings bad luck.
  • Do not visit friend’s house if a family member has just passed away.
  • Do not eat rice porridge in the morning at breakfast, otherwise you cannot add to your wealth luck in that year. Only poor people eat rice porridge, and at Chinese New Year they have no choice.
  • chinese-new-year-taboos-04b.pngBetter not to eat meat on the morning of Chinese New Year, because many Gods who are vegetarians arrive for New Year’s Day in the morning.
  • Don’t wake people up by calling their names; otherwise the sleeping person will be lethargic through the year.
  • Don’t take unnecessary medicine; or you will lose your good health during the year.
  • Don’t wash clothes, because New Year’s Day is the birthday of the God of Water.
  • chinese-new-year-taboos-02.pngDo try to avoid breaking any dish, plate, bowl or cup, as this usually means bad money luck coming. In case it happens, put the broken pieces in a round container until after the New Year is over before disposing of the pieces.
  • If someone owes you money, do not ask for the money back on this day. Otherwise people will owe you money through the year.
  • Don’t let people take anything away from your pocket or purse, because that creates the cause for you to lose money during the year.
  • chinese-new-year-taboos-05b-227x300.pngIf you cry on New Year’s Day, you will cry all through the year. Therefore children are tolerated and are not spanked, even if they happen to be mischievous during this day.
  • On New Year’s Day, we are not supposed to wash our hair, because it would mean washing away good luck for the New Year.
  • It is considered unlucky to greet anyone in his or her bedroom, so that is why everyone – even the sick – should get dressed and sit in the living room.
  • Don’t use foul language or unlucky words. Negative terms and the word “four” (Sae), which phonetically sound like death, must not be uttered. Telling ghost stories or stories about death and dying are totally taboo. Instead talk about your future plans and dreams for the coming year ahead.

Good Days To Re-start Work

good-days-to-restart-work-and-travel-dur

Chinese New Year marks the first day of the New Year in the Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year, and celebrations last for 15 days. The first day of Chinese New Year in 2019 falls on February 5th and marks the start of the Year of the Boar. This is the longest and most important of all Chinese festivals.

Auspicious activities to carry out during this time of the year are:

  • good-days-to-restart-work-and-travel-dur

    Making offerings to household deities.

  • Wearing new clothes, particularly in red.
  • Hosting a large banquet for family and friends.
  • Taking part in lion and dragon dances, as well as festive parades featuring beating gongs and clashing cymbals.

Many children receive “lucky money” in red envelopes and household doors are open to let good luck enter on Chinese New Year Day. It is believed that whatever happens during Chinese New Year, and whatever mood you set, will have an impact on how things go for you for the rest of the year. It is thus important to be happy and cheerful during these 15 days, to hold your temper and not get angry unnecessarily. Surround yourself with people who put you in a good mood.

It is also important to choose good dates for certain activities. For good business luck for the coming year, it is vital to pick a good day to “re-open” the office after the Chinese New Year break. When you re-open your office or business premises, it is good to make some noise with a lion dance. If you can, it is also auspicious to have the lions roll in buckets full of mandarin oranges, Chinese coins and ingots into your office – as this symbolizes the rolling in of gold, wealth and prosperity, and bodes well for your luck in the coming year.

BATHROOM IN THE SW

Q I have just moved into a house where the bathroom is located in the SW, exactly on the right side of the main door. Please tell me what I need to do?

aunt-agga-dec2018-01.png

A A bathroom to the right of your main door is not the issue; the issue however is that it occupies the SW of your home. This is the sector that governs your relationships, in particular your LOVE relationships.

Homes with daughters of marriageable age with toilets in the SW usually see the daughters finding it hard to land suitable husbands, and yes, this applies more to females than males.

BUT, if the bathroom does not take up too much of the sector (i.e. not the whole sector) it shouldn’t pose such a severe problem. If you are not yet married and are trying to find someone suitable, try not to use this bathroom too much, and certainly do not try to “enhance” it in any way!

TOILET IN THE SOUTHEAST

Q In my SE there is a toilet and bathroom, with a window. How is that good or bad? And how to fix?

A It’s neither good nor bad unless it occupies the whole of the SE. And that is bad because the SE is the sector that represents wealth luck. But if your bathroom and toilet is in the whole of your SE, I’d say either move it to another sector, or close the door to it when not in use, and activate the SE corner of your living room with wealth enhancers.

There’s no need to fix it per se, as every sector represents something.

Toilets however that need to be urgently moved are those directly above the main door to the home. These are bad – and I have seen so many cases where this causes the family’s fortunes to literally turn on its head – and in such cases, I’d say renovate, move out, or use another door as the main door.

LEANING WALL

Q

I have just found out that one side of an exterior wall is leaning – in other words, not straight. The house has moved in the past. Please, how can I protect my house? What feng shui objects can help make my wall strong and secure.

A You don’t need feng shui objects, you need to call in an engineer or architect to take a look. Sorry, feng shui cannot help in this respect, but think of it as good feng shui that you noticed this problem, so you can fix it before it becomes a bigger problem or something tragic.

REMOVING A MOLE

Q I have a big mole in my back left shoulder. I want to remove it, but will it change my life fate?

A If anything, a removal of a mole on your back, particularly a big one, will symbolise the removal of the burdens you have to carry. So go ahead and remove it. No problem at all!

EXTENDABLE TABLES IN FENG SHUI

Q Hi! May I know how extendable tables are perceived in Feng Shui? I’m looking to get a dining table for my new home. I understand that dining tables relate to the harmony and quality of relationships within the family. Extendable tables allow space saving and flexibility to accommodate more guests. However, there will be a split in the middle for adding an extra piece. Would that have any negative impact on the family’s relationship, wealth and abundance?

A aunt-agga-issue-160-03.pngFor your main family dining table, it is better not to have a table with a split down the middle. Extendable tables are fine when used for crafting, display or other purposes, but your main family dining table represents the state of your family, so it is better to get a solid proper table than a makeshift, extendable one.

HOW TO DISCARD UNWANTED RELIGIOUS OBJECTS?

Q What is the best way to discard unwanted religious and spiritual printed material such as mantras, pictures or articles of Deities/Buddha, for example those that have been printed incorrectly, etc. I don’t want to create any negative karma by just throwing them in the trash. Kindly advise.

A When religious mantras and texts have been printed incorrectly, best not to use them, but if printed with images of sacred deities and objects that you don’t want to trash, what you can do is burn them or bury them in the ground, in a respectful manner.

BEE HIVE IN BACKYARD

Q aunt-agga-issue-160-04.pngIs it good or bad luck if bees start building a hive in one’s backyard on a tree?

A Whenever animals choose a location to build a nest or hive, it is indicative of good energy, but in the case of a bee hive, because of the danger implications, I would advise getting it removed by an expert before it becomes unmanageable or dangerous.

HANGING A MOUNTAIN ON A SHIP

Q I read your article “How Mountains Can Improve Your Work and Love Life?” I am a seaman, meaning I work onboard a ship. I would like to hang a mountain picture behind my work desk but the ship will change direction when sailing. Could you please advise which mountain picture to hang? Is the Three Peaks mountain picture the best to use regardless of any ship direction? Thanks.

A aunt-agga-issue-160-05-300x176.pngMountains when hung behind a work desk, irrespective of direction, bring good support in your work and whatever you are pursuing. On board your ship, if you have a desk, you can hang a mountain on the wall behind your desk, since whichever way the ship is travelling, you will still be sitting in the same direction within your work office.

Whether you believe it or not, there's no harm checking out these interesting wallet fengshui tips. Apart from helping to usher in wealth, these tips will also help you to be more organised, along with reminding you (and the rest of us) about the very important lesson of respecting money.

With most of us homeowners working hard to pay off our BTO flats, HDBs, condos and more – attracting wealth with 8 simple wallet fengshui tips definitely sounds like a great idea. And if it works, all the better!

1. Clear out the Clutter

Only keep essential items, and remove all unnecessary items from your purse and wallet. Remove receipts, credit card bills, and anything that represents debt or spending money.

Always keep your wallet packed with money because it is a symbol of abundance and avoid empty wallets. Do not keep junk like sweet wrappers, old name cards, and expired membership cards.

2. Store Your Wallet Properly

Treat your wallet well, and it will treat you well too. Allocate a special spot in your home (for example, a shelf, your table, etc) for your wallet, and put it there every time you are home.

Once you learn to appreciate your wallet, it will tend to attract more money into your life. Avoid tossing your wallet onto the dining table, or other places you find convenient.

4. Choose the Right Colour

The colour of your wallet definitely matters in wallet fengshui. Each colour represents an element and different meanings.

Black (Water) – Black is the most common and popular colour. It represents wealth and prosperity. If you’re looking for career advancement or business fortune, black is the colour for you.

Blue (Water) – Symbolic of money being drained like water (attracts splurging), it’s hard to accumulate wealth with blue wallets.

Red (Fire) –  A representation of fire, red wallets will burn away your wealth luck.

Brown (Earth) – If you want to increase your savings, or have the habit of spending too much money, this colour will help you to save money.

Pink (Fire) – Suitable for ladies looking for partners, pink wallets increases love and relationship luck. If you are looking to increase wealth however, do not use this colour.

Yellow (Metal) – Light yellow-coloured wallets may often attract money, with a good money flow – however, money will flow both in and out. If you want to save money, consider mustard yellow wallets. To increase wealth luck, you may also choose pastel yellow wallets.

5. Do not use a Second-hand Wallet

The previous owner’s energy has been in the second-hand wallet, and it might influence you if you use it. As you won’t know if it’s good luck or bad, just get a brand new one and start afresh.

7. Be Organised

Simply by looking at the way a person keeps money in their wallets, you can tell if the person has money or not. Those who respect and appreciate money will always have their notes and coins neatly sorted, while those who have disorganised and messy wallets are usually those who always lack money or are broke.

Make sure to arrange your notes in an upright position before putting them in your wallet as it has a huge influence over the energetic relationship between you, your wallet, and money. Consider getting a wallet or purse with compartments for you to organise your things neatly, instead of getting one without any compartments like a catch all type.

8. Choose an Auspicious Shape

If you want to enhance wealth luck, choose long and straight wallets where you won’t have to fold notes in order to put it in. Avoid choosing irregularly shaped wallets or purses.

What colour is good luck for money?

These are colours that are classically related to money, prosperity and luck. Red is a colour of success and strength, so theoretically a red wallet will stop you from frittering your pennies away. Green is associated with wealth, growth and cold hard cash.

The Legend of Chinese New Year

the-legend-of-chinese-new-year-day-01.jp

The Chinese have celebrated the start of every lunar New Year since 2000 BC. In the past, celebrations were held on different days under different emperors. In recent times however, the first day of the lunar calendar is now officially Chinese New Year day, and we now base it on the Han Dynasty Emperor Wu Di’s almanac.

The legend associated with Chinese New Year is connected to an ancient beast referred to as Nian. According to stories that have survived since then, the beast Nian had a big mouth that swallowed human beings, and for a thousand years, people far and wide feared this beast who came down to the villages to attack during the night in the winter months. The beast was said to return every year to bring havoc and destruction.

One day, an old feng shui master came forward to offer a way of keeping the beast at bay. He advised the villages to follow his method of frightening the beast away. He told everyone to paste red paper couplets on their main doors; to place brightly lit torches near their doors; to beat their drums and gongs so that a loud din is created that can be heard high up into the heavens; to burn bamboo; and to set off firecrackers through the night.

The old feng shui master explained that the beast Nian feared the colour red and would run away from bright lights and loud noises. The night that these things are done, the beast would flee the village and not return for at least another year.

Early the next morning, feelings of triumph and renewal filled the air when the villagers realized they had successfully kept Nian away for the year. As a result, everyone congratulated everyone; hence the most popular greeting heard during the new year is Gong Xi or Congratulations.

the-legend-of-chinese-new-year-day-02.pnSince then, the Chinese people have always put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors, and they also burn bamboo to make cracking noises. The tradition of conquering the beast Nian has continued from generation to generation. The Chinese people celebrate New Year in the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice. The term guonian, which originally means “to survive the nian” has gradually become “celebrate New Year” as the word guo means “pass-over” and nian sounds like “year”. Hence it is the “passing over into the new year”.

the-legend-of-chinese-new-year-day-03.pnToday, the custom of pasting red paper (now couplets with words of good wishes) and firing fire-crackers continues to be strong. During Chinese New Year celebrations, people wear red clothes, they decorate their homes with poems on red paper, and they give children “lucky money” in red envelopes. Red symbolizes Fire, which according to legend drives away bad luck. The fireworks that shower the festivities are rooted in a similar ancient custom. Long ago, people in China lit bamboo stalks, believing that the crackling flames would frighten away all evil spirits. However, people have long forgotten why they follow many of the New Year rituals. The colours and the sounds of Chinese New Year have a bigger meaning than merely adding to the excitement of the celebrations.

By applying Feng Shui techniques at work, we can help relieve stress and facilitate harmonious relationships between the members of a team, improve creativity, focus and productivity and eliminate the negative energies.

All these can be obtained if you set up your office according to the Feng Shui principles and we can help you by offering you few Feng Shui tips.

When designing your office, try to use the five Feng Shui elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. A metallic decor detail, wooden stationery objects, plants, an aquarium etc.
The first stage in designing your Feng Shui office is to get rid of all the clutter that stays in your way, in short – to clean.

  • Don’t place stacks of files on the floor.
  • Don’t place too many objects on the shelves or on top of the closet.
  • Tidy up inside the closets and drawers.
  • Fix or throw away everything that is no longer functioning.
  • Organize all the documents sitting on your desk.
  • Throw away all post-it notes that are no longer valid.
  • Throw away all the bottles and soda cans, wash the dirty coffee cups.
  • Remove the dust.
  • Throw away the garbage bag every evening.

Clutter has a profound effect on your emotional state and wellbeing. A clean and organized office brings vital energy and facilitates inspiration, concentration and creativity. Your ideas are going to be much clearer, your energy and vitality will be restored, you are going to be more relaxed and calm and less affected by stress.

Feng Shui Desk Office Orientation in 2019

The orientation of your desk is one of the most important things when designing your office. In order to adhere to the Feng Shui principles, set your desk in the power place, which is far from the room entry door, diagonally or with the back at the wall.

  • The desk should not be placed with the back at the window or door, because it makes you vulnerable and it creates an anxiety feeling. You have to see who is coming in and you must watch whatever danger is entering your office. If you can’t place your desk in this manner, make sure you have a high back chair that can protect you.
  • Don’t place the desk close to the door, so you don’t get distracted.
  • Avoid placing the desk facing the wall, you will work more efficiently and you will be able to focus better. If you have no choice, place on the wall a picture of nature – a landscape, the ocean…
  • Your frontal space must be free, to facilitate opportunities.
  • If you have to share the space with someone else, avoid a back to back or front to front position. These two positions have a tendency to create conflicts. If you can’t avoid this, offset the desk a bit or set a barrier by placing a plant or a picture.
  • If you work in an open space, is important to have partition walls, because in a space that is too open, the energy tends to evaporate. Try to demarcate the space between you and your colleagues.

What Objects and Images Ato use to Feng Shui your Office in 2019

Every object from your office has an influence on you. When you are surrounded by inspiring images and objects, you are creating a favorable environment for achieving your goals.
Place pictures, slogans and images symbolizing your goals. Pick furniture and accessories that inspire prosperity, abundance and success.

The best place for the computer is on the right side of the desk, while on the left side, above, is best to set a lamp.

Behind the desk, hang a mountain painting, without the sharp peaks, and in front of it, an aquatic life painting, because water symbolizes wealth and prosperity.

To set a dynamic atmosphere in the office, set the right objects in the right places, with the help of a compass, as follows:

  • phone, agenda, computer, business cards to the west or north-west, to facilitate the external contacts and to improve your career;
  • pictures with relatives to the west or east;
  • lamps must be set to the south, to illuminate your future prospects
  • to improve the relationships with your colleagues, place plants to the east.

Feng Shui Colors for Office

The office needs to have light, relaxing colors. The recommended colors are beige, sand color, light gray and light yellow. These are not the only colors used for the interior design of workplaces. Dark colors are also used, but is recommended to mix them with light, delicate tones. Bright colors tend to unnerve the body and the spirit.

  • Yellow: promotes optimism and hope, helps concentration and attention and stimulates intellect.
  • Green: represents growth, vitality and abundance.
  • Blue: is the characteristic color of reliability and security and it increases creativity.
  • Black: promotes introspection and opens up new horizons.
  • Brown: Sustains and strengthens the body, but it doesn’t stimulate the spirit.
  • White: Energizes the spirit and the mental focus, but wears out the body.
  • Gray: Stimulates concentration, but is exhausting for the body.

Feng Shui Plants for Office

In Feng Shui art, it is recommended to place green plants in the office. They are valuable for health and work conditions because they bring positive energies and they increase the creative work and the productivity. The best plant for office is bamboo because it brings luck. Place the plants from east to south-east. Avoid cactuses, bonsai and sharp edged leaves plants.
