MONEY NOSE – The third wealth spot A person’s nose (actually its size!) is the best known measure of a person’s potential to get rich, and men who possess a fleshy nosy is a great favourite with superstitious old aunts and grandmothers! The Chinese always regard a big nose favourably, no matter how out of place it may look. The nose is the repository of money fortune, indicating wealth from many sources. However, this indicator of wealth is said to be more reliable on a woman’s face than on a man’s face. The rounder, higher and larger the nose is, the better, and on a woman, this is said to bring great wealth to any man she marries. I have a friend whose nose is the one thing you notice each time you see her. When they married, her husband was far from rich, but today he is a serious billionaire! I like to use her as an example of the big nose theory, but have to confess that her husband does not take too kindly that all the credit should go to her nose! Readers should nevertheless take note that the nose (from between the eyebrows right to its base) is an important part of the face and it should really never be cut or surgically altered in any way. The most famous celebrity whose series of nose jobs brought him misery and ultimately death has to be the late Michael Jackson. If you look at the before and after pictures of MJ’s nose, the transformation is quite startling and of course, everyone knows how his fortunes waned as his nose looked increasingly more and more like the nose of Diana Ross… and less like the original MJ. So leave your nose alone! But you can make up for this by using cosmetics to make the top of the nose look clear, bright and luminous, with no blemishes or spots. There should be no hair, patchy colouring, spots or moles here. Spots suggest blockages to your money luck. When the bridge of your nose is high, clear and luminous, it suggests a life of affluence and comfort. The nose is a yin spot. It symbolizes one of the rivers of the face. Chinese classical texts on face reading refer to the nose as the river Jie, a river that brings great wealth. The rounder and fleshier the nose looks, the greater the wealth that is brought. Nostrils should be neither too small nor too large. Moles at the tip of the nose are a major sign of misfortune. 4. PEARL LIP – The fourth wealth spot This little pearl-like protrusion on the top of your lips indicates effortless good fortune. Wealth luck is often with such people from birth. The pearl is regarded as a gemstone to the Chinese, so this is a feature that also suggests class and prestige. It looks round and is slightly protruding, and those who have it will usually have had it from childhood, visible on them as newborn babies. When a newly born baby has this feature prominently obvious on its little face, it is safe to predict that the child will grow into a very lucky adultindeed. Like the cleft chin or the dimple, the pearl is regarded a beauty spot, so it brings attraction luck to both men and women. The mouth pearl is also regarded an indication of wealth, and is highly valued on the face of a woman – especially on prospective daughters-in-law, as they bring good fortune luck to their husbands. The pearl also suggests that the person possesses the power of speech. Some refer to this wealth spot as the phoenix pearl. 5. LOTUS MOUTH – The fifth wealth spot regarded as the second river on the face. It is the river Huai, an auspicious waterway when it is delicate, relatively small, but still soft and succulent. Irrespective of its size, the mouth must never appear dry, since this indicates a lack of water in the river and hence a drying up of luck. As long as the mouth is always kept relatively moist, it indicates money luck. This is why it is such a good idea for men and women alike to drink plenty of water, as this replenishes the supply of water. It is also good to use lip balm, as this keeps lips perpetually moist. Women have the added advantage of using lipstick and this is said to attract good fortune, especially when painted red, bringing yang chi to the face. The mouth is the fifth wealth spot on the face. Moles around the mouth, as long as they are not black, enhance the good luck of the mouth. Often, small red moles around the mouth indicate that the person will never lack food. 6. STRONG CHIN – The sixth wealth spot A strong chin provides a strong base mountain for the face. Here is where the wealth of the individual is stored; and to be suggestive of a person who can accumulate asset wealth, the jaw line must be prominent. An auspicious chin is slightly protruding, quite fleshy and looks like a “mountain”. Receding jaw lines are signs of misfortune in old age and can even be a sign of premature death. A prominent chin indicates a mountain and suggests a long and fruitful life. 7. BRIGHT EYES – The seventh wealth spot Nothing is more suggestive of a great life than bright eyes that appear alert and aware. Your eyes indicate good fortune when they shine and always with a steady gaze. It does not matter what the shape, size or colouring of the eyes are – more important is the inner vitality that shines through. When the eyes are bright and are well protected by arched eyebrows, this indicates good health and prosperity. Eyebrows must never be overly plucked or shaved. In fact, no face must lack eyebrows! Without eyebrows, you cannot succeed at anything! Your eyebrows protect you, guarding against “attacks” by wandering spirits and jealous people. When you pluck your eyebrows, never ever pluck above the brows. This instantly curtails your good fortune. When one eye is smaller than the other, use artificial aids like eyeliners to correct the imbalance. Once again, it is symmetry that suggests good fortune. It does not matter if your eyes lack the double eyelid of Caucasian faces; what is important is the shine and luminosity of the eyes themselves. 8. PLUMP CHEEKBONES – The eighth wealth spot The cheekbones mark the eighth wealth spot on the face. In terms of age luck, one enters into the center section of the face after the age of 21. When the cheekbones stand out prominently and appear bright and shiny, it predicts serious wealth about to manifest. Cheekbones should always have flesh. They should never look bony since this is an indication of harmful yang energy. They are in fact luckiest when they look good enough to pinch! The colour of the cheekbones is also important. Cheekbones that look pink and luminous are indicators of good fortune. Cheekbones that appear sallow and dry suggest a loss of vitality. 9. PROMINENT EARS – The ninth wealth feature When your ears are well formed and proportionate, they indicate good fortune and wisdom. They are said to represent the flow of the Yellow River. The Chinese have a great preference for long ears, as these kinds of ears remind them of Buddha. Long, well-defined ears that are not overly fleshy are a sign of class and the high-born. Of the nine wealth features, only one is placed in the youth section of the face and two in the old age section. This suggests that our destiny manifests mostly during the time of life between youth and old age – this is known as the age of maturity. Face reading gives us a good idea of our luck potential, but it is also necessary to see if wealth luck carries on into old age. In the end, this is the most crucial indicator! Our lives should get better as our destiny unfolds. The face reader should note that the face over time can and does undergo change. Mountains can flatten and rivers can run dry. SIGNS OF MISFORTUNES Marks, spots, creases and indentations indicate problems. Where they are found on your face gives you an idea at what age you will face these problems, which can manifest as illness, bad relationships, accidents, money troubles and so forth. The bigger and the darker the mark, the more serious the problem will be. The Chinese usually take the sudden appearance of dark marks as a portent and usually sponsor prayers to “avert” something bad happening. If you have a birthmark on one of your ears, this indicates a difficult time during childhood years. Marks on the bridge of your nose indicate a tough time in your twenties. Discolorations at the end of your nose point to troubles during your forties, perhaps to do with your family or with your financial stability. Issues will arise that cause you to worry. Generally, when your forehead is flawed, it means you will have a difficult relationship with your parents. (Or it could indicate you were a bit of a rebel when you were a teen!) When your forehead is small or bony, it indicates your parents were not well heeled and could not afford expensive schooling fees. A skinny-looking forehead is almost always an indication of something lacking in your life during your childhood years. If you have a broad, round and smooth forehead, it indicates an easy and pampered period during your growing-up years. Markings, spots and scars in your face can change over time, which denotes that your fate is not fixed but can change through the years. This usually reflects the result of the trinity of luck working simultaneously, where good mankind and earth luck influences your heaven luck. If you find you are at a difficult age period in your life, one way to deal with it is to grit your teeth and be even more determined to improve the other two thirds of your luck to compensate for unlucky events. Usually we don’t notice them, but once we try to move on, or the thought of wanting to move on takes hold of us, the junk in our lives start to overwhelm us – and often irritates and distracts us. Material and non-material junk is created by the mind. Why Clutter is Subjective Deciding whether something is junk is purely a subjective decision. Someone’s prized possession is another person’s junk. Something that means a great deal to someone else can mean absolutely nothing to you. So dejunking your life means getting rid of things you think of as junk. You are the one who must define what is junk. Keeping Precious Items Everything that gives you joy, makes you laugh, and inspires you – for whatever reason – is precious to you as it brings nourishing energy. Surrounding yourself with things you love, and which have meaning for you will always strengthen you. This is because the energy that vibrates around such objects is synchronized with yours. The more fuddy duddy variety of feng shui master would even go so far as to suggest to make them as small as possible, keep them out of sight, and away from the main house even. Today we have to adjust such feng shui recommendations for modern living, as most of us who like our mod cons don’t see our bathrooms and WCs as places where we flush down waste, but as personal sanctuaries where we retreat to relax. For some of us, the bathroom even rivals the position of favourite room of the house! So how do we reconcile the “taboo” vs “sanctuary” dilemma? Easy… just follow some simple rules. 1. AVOID LOCATING BATHROOM IN NW or SW sector However nice you make your bathroom, it will still be considered taboo to some degree, so to be safe, keep them away from your two most important sectors: the Northwest and the Southwest. The NW represents the Patriarch and a toilet here flushes down his luck. Similarly with the SW for the Mother, as SW represents the Matriarch. In feng shui, one always strives to preserve the luck of the Mother and Father, and the good fortune of the rest of the family will follow. As such, locate your WCs away from these two sectors. If you buy a ready built house with a bathroom in the NW or SW, and you cannot change the layout of rooms, then at least spend a bit of money to make sure the toilet bowl itself is not located in the NW or SW of the bathroom (Small Tai Chi). 2. AVOID GOLDEN BATHS & TOILETS A popular show of ostentatiousness (but mostly heard of only among the really nouveau rich) is to have golden gilded tap fittings, and even toilet bowls. This is not just vulgar, it is BAD feng shui! It doesn’t even have to be real gold for it to bring bad luck, because taps wash things away, and when you line your taps with gold, you symbolically flush or drain away your money luck every time you use your taps. Better to go for regular stainless steel taps, and regular materials like ceramic, plastic or Perspex toilet seats. 3. NO TOILETS ABOVE MAIN DOOR A design that’s super popular with so many developers is to design a house layout plan where the master bathroom and toilet are directly above a main door. Don’t know how that became a norm with many of the housing developments, but this is a major taboo. What can be worse than having a toilet ruin the feng shui of an auspicious sector? To have the toilet above your most important sector of all – your main door sector! So always check for this taboo before putting down your down-payment for your new dream house. If you already live in such a house and have been suffering a spate of bad luck after moving in, it is so worth your while to spend the money to make some changes – either to the location of your bathroom, or to your main door. Because this configuration doesn’t just bring bad luck, it can be dangerous. 4. MAKE SURE TOILETS DON’T SHARE WALLS WITH BEDS When designing your bathroom, make sure your toilet does not share a wall with your bed. It’s OK to have the bedroom right next to the bathroom; that’s called en suite, and the more en suites you have, the higher the value of your house. But just make sure that something less inauspicious shares the other side of your bed wall. Like your mirror, or sink, or bath. 5. MAINTAIN CARPETS WELL IN YOUR BATHROOM Using tiles for your bathroom is more practical and more low maintenance, but if you’re the type who likes to step out of a bath onto a plush carpeted finish, then make sure you spend some effort to maintain it well. Lay out an effective foot towel for when you step out of the bath so you don’t get your wall-to-wall carpet wet. If your permanent unmovable carpet is allowed to get damp and stay damp, it can create a subtle but foul smell that emits unhealthy chi. And if your carpet has become like that, the advice is to change your carpet. It will be money well spent. 6. BATH CAN BE BIG, TOILET SHOULD BE SMALL The taboo associated with bathrooms is usually specifically confined to the toilet bowl, so if you have a beautiful big spa-like bathroom, it is OK. Just remember to keep the actual toilet small. It is better to confine the toilet in a small room within the bathroom. This way, the unpleasant smells from the WC don’t get a chance to waft out to the main area of your spa sanctuary. Keep the door to your WC closed at all times when not in use. Another solution is to keep your toilet out of the bathroom altogether. This may be inconvenient, but it has been done before, and owners of such bathroom/WC arrangements assure us that it works. This way your WC doesn’t intrude into your bath sanctuary at all, leaving you able to enhance and decorate as much as you like without fear of “activating toilet feng shui”. 7. CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLOUR SCHEME Don’t make your bathroom too yin. Bedrooms are good when slightly more yin than yang, as bedrooms are where you’re meant to rest and catch up on sleep. Bathrooms, although their meant for relaxing, are also where you scrub and cleanse yourself, so it should be a touch more yang than yin. So go for colours that are bright rather than dark. Whites, creams and pastels work a lot better for bathrooms then blacks, maroons and khakis. If you go for a dark colour, make sure the walls contrast nicely by painting them a complementary light colour. As long as you have balance, and the balance is tipped in favour of yang, you should achieve a good colour scheme. The word Dharma means living the right path with the right purpose. In the practice of feng shui, it is viewed as having the right motivation when you make feng shui changes and enhancements to your space. The Dharma dimension adds potency to the spirituality of both stillness and movement, which is the cosmic energy that transforms yin into yang and yang back into yin. Buddha taught these 84,000 ways which those fortunate enough to be born as human beings can use to transform their lives, to change their karma and to improve their samsaric experience. This is the Dharma dimension, which can also be used to enhance our practice of symbolic and spiritual feng shui. To those unfamiliar with the detailed practices of the Dharma dimension, here are THREE SECRETS you can use to enhance the impact of your Spiritual Feng Shui practice. THE THREE SECRETS You can successfully strengthen and empower all the CURES and ENHANCEMENTS you have put into place in the different sectors of your home by using the power of your body, speech and mind. Using your BODY means the action of placing the symbolic cures or enhancers into place, here you are using your whole body to effect this action. The seed syllable associated with empowering the body is OM. It is a good idea then to think of this syllable Om as you put your symbolic cues into place. Using your SPEECH means reciting a suitable mantra as you put the cure into place. Recite the mantra OM YEH DHARMA HETU PRABHAVA three times followed by whatever Deity mantra you usually recite. I always use the TARA mantra with great success, and I recite 21 times. You can finish by reciting OM AH HUM nine times and this seals in the effect of your mantras onto the cures and enhancers. The seed syllable here is AH, so think of AH as you are reciting your mantras. Using your MIND means visualizing clearly what you want to achieve by placing the cure in place. Think what affliction you want to subdue and what kind of misfortune luck you want to dissolve. The mental picture you create in your head magnifies the power of the cure substantially. Likewise, also imagine clearly the success you wish for and the wealth you want to amass as you put your success and prosperity enhancers into place. This will increase the likelihood of abundance and success coming to you in exactly the way you wish for. The seed syllable is Hum, so think of Hum as you visualize. EXAMPLES When you place a wealth Mirror in a particular corner of your home, visualize the mirror reflecting great prosperity in the form of cash, asset wealth, increased sales all flowing into the home. Think strongly that the mirror is reflecting in great success and big wealth; then when you have the picture of the wealth luck clearly inside your head, recite the Dependant Arising mantra followed by the Dzambhala wealth mantras. Focus and concentrate as you do this and continue to strongly visualize the flow of wealth coming into your home. Finish with Om Ah Hum three times. After you have empowered the wealth mirror this way, you will discover that you will never look at it the same way again. Each time you see it in place, you will be reminded of wealth flowing into your home. When you display a Wu Lou in the Northeast (for 2019) of your home, think that the Wu Lou is subduing the illness star; that it is completely dissolving all the sickness energies brought by the nagas of the star #2 into the home. When you have a firm picture of the nagas strongly subdued, recite the Dependent Arising mantra followed by the Buddha of Longevity mantra Om Bhaykandze a total of 21 times. This is an incredibly powerful mantra and you can think that the blue Buddha is with you as you recite his mantra. Then you can visualize all illness energies dissolving into thin air and disappearing. The windchime has now become empowered so that illness vibrations simply cannot enter the home. Finish with Om Ah Hum three times. When you place the five element pagoda in the Southwest (for 2019) where the Five Yellow star of misfortune is located this year, think that the pagoda cure completely absorbs all the negativities, misfortune energies and illness nagas associated with the wu wang or Five Yellow affliction. Visualize the pagoda sweeping all misfortune luck away out of the home; then recite the mantra of Dependent Arising followed by the Tara mantra. I find that for me, using the Goddess Tara mantra is always so effective, so if you forget the other mantras, you can use the Tara mantra for any and all purposes. Ordinary people engage in rituals and wear an infinite variety of charms to attract good portents. We believe in lucky and unlucky days. We have our favourite good luck amulets. Our belief in lucky and unlucky signs is almost subconscious, so much so that we constantly interpret the most commonplace things that happen to us as suggesting either good or bad luck. A broken mirror, inadvertently walking under a ladder, getting stung by a bee or dreaming of white tigers – each time something remotely out of the ordinary happen to us, instantly we wonder if it will bring us good or bad luck. Here are 18 common events in everyday life believed to be powerful indications of good fortune. When Bats Nest In Your HomeThis is one of the most powerful indications that the family is about to become seriously wealthy. The Chinese regard bats as symbols of abundant wealth. The circular pattern of five bats is a very popular design feature found on furniture, paintings and ceramics. The Chinese believe that bats nest only in auspicious places – they have highly developed sensory parts that are able to “smell” out places with auspicious chi. Best area to display it would be on a tabletop in the dining room area of the home, as the dining room benefits from regular income-producing energy, because that’s where you eat and that’s where the whole family congregates.
