What a lack of education!  He must surely carry so many chips on his shoulders!  This is the kind of person who is most influenced by the evil of organized religions telling them that homosexuals are a "danger", which he feels he should "protect the nation from".  He says he is a father, so we should pity his children.

 

Even if he now claims that he never had the intention of carrying out his threat,  HE MADE THE THREAT.  It is unambiguous and is written black on white. So he should be found guilty of making the thread and should be given the penalty for this.

I am earmarking 4 August to see how fair is our Supreme Court in protecting the LGBT in our society.  I have been very dissappointed with our Singapore "justice" system for decades and I hope this Brian's threat on our LGBT should not be let off easily.  Will our Singapore "justice" system prove me wrong again, like it did many times?

This case is now before the Court, so any comment can be constituted as "Contempt of Court".  The Bill just passed by Parliament yesterday.  So don't any how "open fire".

SINGAPORE: A Facebook user who threatened to "open fire" on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community was fined S$3,500 on Friday (Nov 4).

 

Bryan Lim Sian Yang, 37, pleaded guilty on Friday morning to "making a threatening communication likely to cause alarm" under the Protection from Harassment Act. 

 

On Jun 4, Lim commented that he wanted to “open fire” and “protect his nation” in response to a Facebook post on foreign funding of Pink Dot, an annual event organised in support of the LGBT community.

 

“I am a Singaporean citizen. I am a NSman. I am a father. And I swore to protect my nation,” the 36-year-old Lim wrote on Jun 4. “Give me the permission to open fire. I would like to see these £@€$^*s die for their causes.”

 

After his comment made the rounds on social media, several Facebook users lodged police reports against him. “This man made an open threat of violence to a specific group of Singaporeans if given the opportunity,” Mr Stanley Tan wrote on the Facebook page of the Singapore Police Force. “Would this be considered an internal terrorist act?”

 

Police investigations subsequently commenced against Lim shortly after, and he was charged in court on Jun 30. 

Lim subsequently apologised for his strongly worded comment, claiming that it had been "taken out of context".

"I did not mean physical bullets nor physical death,” he wrote. "I mean open fire in debate and remove them from Singapore domestic matters."

 

For making a threatening communication likely to cause alarm, Lim could have faced a fine of up to S$5,000.

So can threaten religious or racial groups and get fined only?

Teen blogger Amos Yee gets 6 weeks' jail and $2,000 fine for wounding religious feelings

Singapore is never an or equal or fair country.  The couple who ran the REAL Singapore site was jailed far worse than Yang Yin who cheated and lied throughout his trial.   The wife who was pregnant, was not spared the jail sentence.  This is one country that have lost my respect long ago.
