I am curious, for single who doesn't cook or small eater, poor or pure lazy,  what are the basic things you store in your kitchen and didn't want to look messy?

I personally have the basic:

1.  Salt - not sure what to use for yet.

2.  Sugar - to add on beverage drink like tea/coffee

3.  Chillie sauge - for hotdog

4.   Light soy sauce - for half boiled egg

5.   Rice

6.   Instant noodle

5.   Lipton Tea

6.   Kopi

7.   Tin full of Biscuit

8.   Jam/Peanut butter

9.   3-in-1 nestum

10. Still pondering whether I should get olive oil...hmmm

Yup, that's about all.

what you think?

I am alone and still I need a full kitchen as I enjoy cooking and experimenting new dishes.

Nowadays whenever I am overseas, I buy only local condiments and spice instead of souvenirs.

The basic necessities according to your need:

- Induction cooker to do some stir-fry vegetables, boiling eggs, sauteed chicken/meat

- Flask/Pot for boiling water (for your beverages and plain water)

- Microwave oven for that occasional instant noodles and reheating/thawing of frozen food

- Condiments, cooking oil (1 kg)  and sauce, depends on your taste buds.. I have a full rack of spices (at least 15 different types)

Save money making your own breakfast - peanut butter/butter on bread

I find Ya-kun breafast too expensive.  I make my peanut butter bread, 2 half boiled eggs and kopi at home. Save money and lazy to go out in the morning for beakfast.  For meal, I make salad.  Not into oily or stir fry stuff.  Sometime make light porridge. Night time go to my mama home for free dinner.

You can use salt to make a gargling solution whenever you have an itchy throat.

I'm staying on my own quite watchful of my diet and food intake. So for me, the following items work.

  1. Milk
  2. Chia seed (google if you don't know what this is)
  3. Rolled Oats
  4. Fruit Knife (or just any good knife, bigger knife can cut smaller things, smaller knife can't cut bigger things)
  5. Wholemeal / Rye bread.
  6. Peanut butter
  7. Cheese
  8. Canned Tuna
  9. Weet Bix
  10. Trail mixed nuts
  11. Medium metal "mug" that can be put over fire (to make boiled eggs)
  12. Eggs

I had olive oil but I rarely used it because I was always lazy to prepare salads, since you need fresh veggies. So instead I just take fruits.

I've not bought pre-packed salad before. Am just curious, how long can it last in the fridge?

Can last nearly a week, if you keep it dry.  Best is to invest a Salad spinner. You can get one from ikea for very cheap price.  The spinner will keep your salad dry and last longer in ziplock bag. Also, after washing, the spinner will spin dry the salad for more delicious crunchy bite.
