A flood has destroyed the home of a Christian lobbyist who preached that God sends natural disasters to punish gays.

President of the controversial Christian group Family Research Council, Tony Perkins, described a deluge of “near biblical proportions” hitting his Louisiana home.

During a broadcast on the group’s radio station, he told how he and his family had fled in a canoe.

“This is a flood, I would have to say, of near biblical proportions,” he said.

The family had to set up home in a RV motor home.

Mr Perkins has a long and well-documented history of disparaging gay people.

Writing on the FRC website, he said: “While activists like to claim that pedophilia [sic] is a completely distinct orientation from homosexuality, evidence shows a disproportionate overlap between the two. … It is a homosexual problem.”

He has also claimed homosexuality is incompatible with evolution and has likened it to a drug or alcohol addiction.

He added: "The most important thing that Christians can offer to homosexuals is hope - hope that their sins, just like the sins of anyone else, can be forgiven and their lives transformed.”

Mr Perkins said he has been forced to live off “God’s provisions” following the flood.

Karma (in English or Sanskrit) and kamma (in Pali). The concept of karma in Buddhism and the concept of karma in Hinduism/ other faiths is different. In Buddhism, karma is the natural result of intentional thoughts and actions. These will take time and requires the right conditions to show effects. Cause and effect. Like for example, to plant apple tree and bear apples, we need to have the right conditions like sunlight, water, fertile soil, time, etc. Likewise, for humans to experience consequences of our thoughts/speech/ actions, we need the right circumstances, conditions and time. In Buddhism, karma is a natural energy force of  cause and effect, it is not the reward/ punishment from buddha/ god/ deities. Although buddha/ god/ deities may interfere. In other faiths, they feel it is the punishment or reward bestow by the great almighty/ supernatural. We, humans interpret and translate the teachings of the ancient religious leaders, forming our own opinions influencing other people ( as opposed to factual truths). So have an open mind, not a fixated one. Are the translations, interpretations and re-interpretations of many ancient faiths correct and accurate? Over the centuries, is it not unnatural to have ideas and  traditions infused because of societal change and human wants/ needs? So just be a good and healthy gay, don't be too concerned about the various preachings (opinions) by the preachers and evangelists. Be well and cheers.

Instead of his own unwholesome karma, this ignorant guy is blaming his god and homosexuals.
