I'll be visiting tokyo for a stay following a business trip between 3/18-3/22, and wanted to see if there were other travelers or tokyo-locals who'd be up for hanging out and checking out night life. Message me if that's the case. Thanks!

I'm in Tokyo now, tried out DG last night. It was amazing! It's actually located at the Shinjuku E 組 shop, so if you ask nicely they might even allow you to use the "special" rooms and "special" scenarios. You can also communicate your requests to them.

However, credit card use will induce a 10% charge which is not communicated anywhere on the site or their shop (ouch!).

I remember this credit card surcharge.

The mama-san at the bar asked me if I was fine with the surcharge as it was better for me to pay with cash but since I didn't have cash on hand, I went ahead with paying by card.

You could try 24 Kaikan Ueno, near Ueno railway station.

Different atmosphere, and can be very fun too.

Have a nice trip!

Thanks. Thanks

Well, there are less twinks in Ueno than in Shinjuku. I would say more bears, G-men, 30/40.

And in 24 Kaikan Asakusa, you can see elder people and CDs, but not only.

Maybe some more recent comment would be useful... Help, darkflame! ^_^

This is always how I see it:

Shinjuku - young crowd & hunky

Ueno - bears & g-men

Asakusa - older men (you may not get a good experience if too young)

There are also much sauna special events to benefit from provided you understand Japanese well.

The rainy season starts in June.

My friend was unlucky enough to come during the onset of the rainy season and it constantly rained everyday during her stay.

As I dislike rain, I'd prefer to go to Hokkaido during summer.

Everyday during that rainy week, I would keep cursing the weather.

Although I cannot really go into detail here, the gay male community of Japan loosely divides itself into three categories: “nai-sen” (those who prefer other Japanese men, representing the majority), “gai-sen” (those who prefer white foreign men) and “ajia-sen” (those who prefer East or South-East Asian). I would also point out here that Latino and Black ethnicities, as well as South and Central Asian, are rather invisible. "

came across this today. any idea where we can hang out with ajia-sen? mostly seem to encounter nai-sen or gai-sen.

I think there are many ajia-sen bars etc, though they prefer to separate it into preference for East Asian and Southeast Asian.

If you are fair enough, probably treated as an east Asian.

I haven't really seen Latino and Black ethnicities in Nichome; most are foreigners.

Thanks for the advice, how about footwears? Is it better to wear slippers since easier to take off & head into the water :)

There is no pool at ageHa splash. There is indeed one of the dance areas where people can dance around a pool but nobody can get inside the pool.

If you want to have a 'wet' event, there is one in August where people can get inside.

I have always wore covered shoes. Slippers might be more the norm for 'Muscle Beach' in July.

Where's nice to visit in Sapporo haha?

I finished my city tour of Sapporo within half a day.

There's basically those historical buildings and JR towers, along with Susukino.

Good for two day trips to Otaru and Asahikawa.

I read a few posts and I am looking for recommendations for bars in Tokyo. My type is mature Japanese chubby/stocky ideally no body hair and between 40 and 50. I do not speak any Japanese and hence I am looking for foreigner friendly places. Based on reading up it seems that 24 Kaikan Shinjuku is a good sauna spot and was wondering if it is popular with mature chubs. I also saw a bar called "popular" that was recommended, but I am unable to find it when I googled the name. Any other recommendations for bars where majority would be the type I am looking for and also that are foreigner friendly? Also, if a bar mostly caters to stocky/chubby are they open to avg build guys like me? Also if anyone has names of escort services that would be able to provide my type I would be interested in that. The only escort services I found offered skinny or muscular young guys.

Definitely not 24 Kaikan Shinjuku. Try 24 Kaikan Ueno - get onto Utopia for directions there, from the Ueno train station. Sorry, not familiar enough with bars to comment. Happy hunting.

If you don't speak J, forget about bars. You will just frustrate everybody because most places tiny, only a few seats, the Master will try to keep customers entertained, can't escape the embarrassing silence. You might even miss the sign outside showing that that bar is not suitable for you or you not suitable!
