Will be in Tokyo 11-15th nov. Going to visit 24 Kaikan for the first time  Am staying nearer to Ueno but the Shinjuku outlet sounds good too. If I am inclined towards in men in their 30s-40s, is Ueno a better choice?
Also, how does Jinya compare to 24 kaikan?

I will be in Tokyo with friends from 8 to 12th Nov.

If you are inclined towards guys in 30s - 40s, you may have better luck in Ueno, though you may also find them in Shinjuku too. It also depends if you are just into Japanese guys only as you tend to get more Japanese men in Ueno, while Shinjuku tends to get more international crowd as it is popular with tourists too.

I have not been to Jinya for years. It is smaller than 24 Kaikan, and attracts local crowds generally from 30s upwards. Based on my previous visits, it is not as crowded as 24 kaikan but you should still get some decent man (or fun) there.

There is also a sauna called "Oban" just opposite JR Ueno station that is largely locals in their 30s upwards. However, this sauna is known to bar foreigners from entering. If you don't look like Japanese and don't speak Japanese language, they can prohibit you from entering.

Do have a good time and let me know if you need more information.

Ok thanks for the very informative explanation! I don't mind an international crowd haha, so will try Shinjuku one after all. I think I can pass off as Japanese but I don't speak the language so better stick to the foreigner-friendly ones.

why does the massuer shower with you ? both before and after the massage he will shower with you ?

He auto shower with me. Could be part of their service. Only before massage. But he did give me time to shower on my own after he left the shower. After massage, I shower on my own.

HE included. To what extent, I believe is between you and the therapist.

I am having an overnight stop over in Tokyo in December on my way to Bangkok. and I am thinking of giving it a try to Utatane massage. Your info really helps me a lot, but I am still debating which therapist to choose without seeing their face pics.

I feel so too. Hard to choose LOL.

Anyone has any good saunas to recommend for 40yo abv in Fukuoka (pref u visited)??

ビジネスイン久松
2 Chome-19 Haruyoshi, Chūō-ku, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka-ken 810-0003, Japan
https://goo.gl/maps/PGnxEXgQHrH2

It should be 24hrs. Abt 2500Y for overnight, maybe 2000Y for rest.

I lost my keys once when i was there so they knew I am foreigner as i cannot speak Japanese. But i am Chinese, so i am not sure how receptive of them if you are non oriental looking.

The crowd are 10% 30s, 30% 40s, 30% 50s, 30% 60s +. My guess as I havent been there for years. Much smaller place than 24 in ueno or asakusa.

I was last there abt 4 years ago.

I don't think it has closed down as the bulletin boards for it are still active.

By the way, there are a few gay bars near that sauna.

To be honest, i dont find these English sites updated for places in Japan, korea and China, cause they are slightly "closed" in term of foreigner (especially when we are talking abt 40s and above). Maybe the 30s and below are more open as they can speak English better?

Anyway, above are just my guess.

As for gay bar in Japan, they are a great place to gather information for sauna or restaurants or gay bars recommendations (from the English speaking master) and if you are lucky, you get friend to sleep with.(maybe one of the guest or the master. This is rare though).

can you use the 24kaikan ueno as a cheaper alternative to a hotel? is it possible to get decent sleep here? i will be traveling alone in tokyo, any recommendation on a more affordable option to a hotel?

If you are going to sleep at the general sleeping area, be prepared for guys who snore and/or occasional touches. I have done before in the past where it is a last minute trip and I can't get a hotel room for one of the nights (except hotel suites). For me, I will generally try to find a dark area and hopefully I do not get people touching me while I was sleeping. Also, if you are light sleeper, the snore may keep you awake the whole night. 24 Kaikan also offers single-room stay at around 6000Yen to 8000Yen a night. However, rooms can be limited in particular during holiday seasons or during weekends. You can check in from evenings and you will need to vacant the room in the morning.

are the lockers on site big enough for a carry on luggage?

The branch at Ueno doesn't seem to have lockers that can store a carry on luggage. Suggest that you leave it in the JR Ueno station. They are many paid lockers where carry on luggage should fix into one of these luggage.

Fascinating! The first gay sauna I heard about in Tokyo decades ago was Oban. But it was then located in Kabuki-cho. I was staggered at how open everything is in Japanese saunas. And then I met a guy who had been featured in one of the porn magazines. So cute and we had such a good time. By about 1988 that Oban had joined almost every other sauna in banning foreigners - a belated attempt to halt the spread of HIV. Years later I tried several times to find that Oban but it had disappeared. I wonder if the one in Ueno is the original transplanted.

A few years ago, they have 3 Oban branches - same as 24 kaikan. One in Shinjuku, One in Ueno and One in Asakusa. I have managed to slip into the ones at Ueno and Asakusa. But I have not really been there for a while as my Japanese language proficiency level is dropping very fast. I will now stick to 24 kaikan. As such, not too sure if Oban still exists currently in Tokyo.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before in this thread but there is a third 24 Kaikan in Tokyo. It is located in Asakusa (note: not Akasaka!) near the famous Senso-ji Shrine close to the end of the Ginza subway line. This was the original 24 and it has been showing its age for many years but seems to remain popular. The Japanese clientele is mostly middle to older age with a sprinkling of younger students and other guys. Non-Japanese are welcome. Perhaps worth a visit if you are sightseeing at the Shrine and like older guys.

Atami onsen area is a popular venue, if only all the boyz are willing to pay and go for such boys-only outing
I honestly not sure do they have gay tendencies?!!?!?! (but  this round, i dont feel anything w the specky guy - seemed too soft)
the scene from 6min is enough to melt me and the way they snatched to go under the blanket

I went to 24 Kaikan Asakusa quite many years ago and the folks there are quite respectful if you don’t want sex.

Shinjuku is quite disrespectful. Just takes you to suddenly touch a man gently before he grabs you and tears off your robes and you end up getting banged by 4 other men.
