To find good matcha powder isn’t difficult. The question is how much you’re willing to spend, as high-quality matcha can get very expensive. Depending on how you’re planning to use it, the subtle differences in flavor between different grades may not matter to you so much as affordability.

In any case, the Japanese supermarkets here stock them. Isetan and Meidi-Ya for sure. You could also try Emporium Shokuhin or those smaller places like Iroha Mart, Yamakawa Super, etc. The Japanese tea shop in the Takashimaya food hall has it as well.

Don’t bother with instant “matcha latte”. Just get the real matcha powder.

Ethan

I m impressed, but somehow I felt matchaya seemed like an imitation , everytime I wanna go in to patronise, I didnt

@4evaboring,

only a purely jp chef will fully understand wht is lacking

So JOC recommends this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087ALJ3M/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=jusonecoo-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B0087ALJ3M&linkId=4f960ee6b16b15b2e0513df13af295c6

While isetan or mediya surely have it but maybe ex, my jp ex colleague will recommend gyomu for sure - for those at west

Gyomu in big box sg

Mine is also in a small container (like a palm size , w a tin lid) which I bought bk fr jp
it has to be authentic

Poonhuat n some marts cannot make the mark, I m not sure about
iroha mart?

how about the latest Donki, but beware of Long queues

nt a bad choice

While Shizuoka Green Tea (ample sunlight/ warmer than average climate hence good for growing tea) appeared commonly famous, & almost 40% of all the green tea consumed in Japan is produced in the Shizuoka region
but apart from Uji green tea @ Kyoto,
Kyushu -also hve stellar Green Tea from:  famous Chiran green tea in Kagoshima, Yame gyokuro in Fukuoka, and Kirishima green teas from Miyazaki

glad that u didn't get the larger pack, cos if it is not suitable , still can try other packs
100g is q a lot unless u have many green tea item to do

I should be going for http://www.greentea.sg/matcha-greentea/shizuoka-culinary-matcha since it is culinary grade.
