Thai cave rescue saga

Hi guys, please use some time to say a prayer for all the Thai brave elite divers and medical personnel and nurses and doctors involved in the critical and dangerous rescue of the trapped boys and coach.

The elite divers know that at any time their lives will be sacrificed for the sake of the country and their fellow Thai citizens.

This is the day they show true valour and grit.

Take a moment to ponder what they will.be going through. Incredible obstacles against time and mother nature.

Those in the army , commando , and swear allegiance to the flag , country and King will be ready to makenthe ultimate and final sacrifice.

Spare a moment to think about the anguish of their wives , family and friends and country men.

We will witness the true united spirit of the Thai people, Thai army, and the human spirit.

Death is but a passing phase. A ten minute brain oxygen deprivation is enough to cause loss of consciousness.

And possible death by loss of oxygen.

Feel free to shed a tear of helplessness of the situation. But do give a prayer for successful outcome but be ready for a negative outcome.

but on the positive side, celebrate the coming together of the Thai people and their strong belief in the buddha and their resolute faith.......

Thanks and gratitude to all the brave elite military men who are ready to sacrifice their life for Thailand.

Its the day they are trained  for, to do what ordinary folks cannot and will not do..

This have been going on for 2 weeks, trump-kim is only a 1 day event and I don't think this are the kind of attraction that we want to get.

But hopefully I hope they learnt their lesson after this accident, on the coach side, why would he want to take the risk of bringing 12 kids who can't swim into the cave? Hopefully they are all saved but then 1 rescuer had already sacrifice his life for them.

Authority must sealed up the entrance to the cave or only ensure those with license to enter. Look at the Phuket accident, why the company still want to go ahead even with warning from authority? Same as Indonesia, ferry always overload and accidents keep happening again and again.

So please, sealed up the cave when all are rescued so we are not going to have another such accident.

I wonder why the coach and some of the boys posed naked in the photo... I thought it is so cold into there that they needed the hi-tech space blankets to prevent hypothermia... Anyway, I do hope every single person including the rescuers will be safe. 5hours long journey and diving in murky water condition is no joke, esp for the malnourished kids.

The warning sign outside the cave stated the cave was only off-limits from July onwards due to the heavy rains whereas they entered on 23rd June. And therewas no signs of rain at that moment when they ventured in. It only started raining later and the flash flood caused them to venture even deeper into the cave to seek safe grounds. Anyway, the coach himself is already very guilt ridden and has expressed much apologies over the incident. Even the parents of the kids have said they were grateful instead that he looked after their kids and even taught them what to do inside the cave to sustain themselves...

‘He loved them more than himself’: How a 25-year-old former monk kept the Thai soccer team alive

As the rush to figure out how to rescue the group continues some have chided Ekapol for leading the team into the cave. A large warning sign at the cave’s entrance raises the risk of entering so close to the monsoon season, they say, and he should have known better.

But for many in Thailand, Ekapol, who left his life in the monkhood three years ago and joined the Wild Boars as an assistant coach soon after, is an almost divine force, sent to protect the boys as they go through this ordeal. A widely shared cartoon drawing of Ekapol shows him sitting cross-legged, as a monk does in meditation, with 12 little wild boars in his arms.

According to rescue officials, he is among the weakest in the group, in part because he gave the boys his share of the limited food and water they had with them in the early days. He also taught the boys how to meditate and how to conserve as much energy as possible until they were found.

“If he didn’t go with them, what would have happened to my child?” said the mother of Pornchai Khamluang, one of the boys in the cave, in an interview with a Thai television network. “When he comes out, we have to heal his heart. My dear Ek, I would never blame you.”

Ekapol was an orphan who lost his parents at age 10, friends say. He then trained to be a monk but left the monastery to care for his ailing grandmother in Mae Sai in northern Thailand. There, he split his time between a working as a temple hand at a monastery and training the then newly-established Moo Pa team. He found kindred spirits in the boys, many of whom had grown up poor or were stateless ethnic minorities, common in this border area between Myanmar and Thailand.

“He loved them more than himself,” said Joy Khampai, a longtime friend of Ekapol’s who works at a coffee stand in the Mae Sai monastery. “He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke. He was the kind of person who looked after himself and who taught the kids to do the same.”

He helped Nopparat, the head coach, devise a system where the boys’ passion for soccer would motivate them to excel academically. If they got certain grades in school, they would be rewarded with soccer gear, such as fresh studs for their cleats or a new pair of shorts. The two spent time looking for sponsors and used the Moo Pa team to prove to the boys that they could become something more than their small town would suggest — even professional athletes.

“He gave a lot of himself to them,” Nopparat said. He would ferry the boys to and from home when their parents could not and took responsibility for them as if they were his own family.

He also kept the boys on a strict training schedule, according to physical education teachers at the school field where they practiced. That included biking across the hills that surround Mae Sai.

That photo was taken on a separate occasion in the cave. They been into it before several times last time.

These are hardy country kids who are fit, unlike the strawberry kids who only stay at home play iPad and computer games. I also hope all of them will be rescues safely

yap, try to not touch your phone or pc for 2 weeks and see if u can tahan......wifi-less for 2 weeks would be a mental burnout for most people, not to even mention the hunger and exhaustion both physical and mental as well as the fear of the unknown future. These kids are tough a tough bunch.

What an extraordinary example of human care!

Twelve boys trapped in a cave with their coach brought together teams of helping experts from many countries.

And the whole world follows the rescue.

If the rescue is successful, Thailand should declare a holiday to celebrate.

Pap will conclude search after 3days after they're not found. Here is you die your business. Everything here is measured by money focus and open kopitiam to serve volunteers then charge double as high as possible. Then charge the teacher and ban future cave exploration forever.

In the meanwhile, spent 20million budget on trump and kim which I rather they donate the sum to rescue the Thai boys.

1) Parents will start blaming wars, blame gov, blame the coach blame the weather but never themselves
2) The locals(Singaporeans) will volunteer... but not as cooks or massages, but as a by-stander, watching and videoing/instagram/facebooking/posting on-line like HWZ etc ettc
3) After the kids are rescued, ask the Coach to pay, their parents to pay for the medical bills and rescue bills

The cave accident attracted world attention and 24/7 reporting by international mainstream media while the ferry accident involving mainly PRC tourists was under reported.  That's the difference.

Don't read and response to guests' post

Hurrah!  Total success in Thailand!

This is one of the best news from this evil world in a long time.
All the boys and coach trapped in the cave have been rescued, apparently in good health. This should be an example for the whole world. From their first images calm, smiling, giving thanks, the boys immediately gained our hearts.

I think the strongest example is evidence of the superiority of the original Asian philosophies and life styles. The coach, a former Buddhist monk, kept the young boys calm with meditation, positive thoughts during the many days they were held in complete darkness without notice of any rescue.

How would such an event have played out in my country the US?  To begin, the American boys are too fat and lazy to attempt such a trip into a cave. They may have coped with the lack of food better than the Thais given their reserves of fat, but their emotions would have been totally against them, it would not have taken long before they all panicked and passed out from the stress. Unprepared for any hardship, they would have suffered irreparable mental traumas lasting their whole lives.  And would they have been able to cope with the treacherous rescue?  Maybe only with Musk's idea of bringing them out in mini submarines!

Mind your words.  The rescue would not have been successful without the international team from UK, America, Australia...  and it was the UK peserverence divers who spotted the boys first.  Please do not single out American as being fat and lazy.  Most city dwellers have similar traits, which include Singapore boys from the maid generation, and also our fat minitoots sitting in ivory towers.

Deep down in our hearts, we know that Singaporeans are not well-brought up - which means, whether it is any individual or the parents, can react in a way which is so unlovable and hated.

Such arrogant and selfish behaviours amongst Singaporeans seem to reach new heights by the year.

The coach n the boys r victims of a natural disaster. No one is really to be blamed.

The only regret is the diver who died during the rescue.
