What is the likelihood of catching HIV and STD from paid sex?

Recently have this thought of paying for a sex at Geylang. but really worried about catching HIV and STD? but then again I have been visiting gay sauna before this. I dun understand why am I worried so much since I can catch similar HIV and STD too from gay sauna. I really wanted to fuck with a girl and get done with this thought that keeps playing in my mind.

The likelihood of catching something from a sex worker would be much, much less if they could be legal, registered, affiliated, with social benefits, and frequent mandatory tests for STDs.  (I think that even God would agree about this)

Erm... You are basing this on the assumption that sex workers have a higher prevalence of STDs, which may or may not be true.

The probability of you getting STDs from a single person is 50/50.

So you could be very "lucky" and do it once and still get an STD.

But of course, that probability of you getting STD increases with the frequency of casual protected sex - regardless of whether it's in a sex den, sauna, picking up strangers from the bar or app etc. And if you are high risk taker, you can increase your chances with unprotected sex.

It's just pure statistics, nothing to do with the place.

Please read my post again, with more comprehension.

I never said that paid sex means daily checkups. I said that if it were regulated and required periodic checkups (not necessarily daily, maybe monthly) it would be much safer.  

 

Please don't be a fear monger. If you had to choose between drinking poison and HIV, you were much better off with HIV!

A probability of 50/50 from one single person (single encounter?) ?  Even if 50% of gays have STDs,  not every encounter with a STD+ person would result in infection.

Assuming that sex workers have the same prevalence of STDs as normal gays,  if they have to be tested periodically and have to get their STDs treated before continuing working they are much safer than gays who may go around with STDs forever without knowing it.

Chances are no higher than random hookups with strangers online, in a sauna or in a bar. The responsibility for keeping yourself safe rest entirely on you, your partners’ STD/HIV status is irrelevant.  If you play safely, your chances are exactly the same.

Whether you pay or no pay sex, as long as is casual sex, there’s always have a chance of getting HIV/STD. If you fear of getting that, then either go safe sex or find a partner in a monogamous relationship to have sex with. Haven’t said that even safe sex sometimes might have an unlucky day that you still can got it! And in monogamous relationship sex also can one cheated for just accidental ONS and this accidental ONS got HIV/STD!  So just take responsibility with all actions you choose, which are practice safe sex and go routine sexual health screening.

 

I in open relationship, because I’m very sexual active so have chose to go casual sex in cruising places. Before I set my path to look for my fun actions, I make sure I schedule for routine sexual health screening and I’m on PrEP (HIV prevention). I don’t want my partner to get infected since I got permission from him to fuck around. I only used condom for anal intercourse but not oral and you think that’s quite safe, you are wrong! I have few unlucky days that I got STD from oral sex too. How I know I got it, because I got routine sexual health screening, and of course I let my partner knows when I got infected. Also because I got routine screening, I got treatment very fast, once I recovered so I back to action again to enjoy having sex! In addition, to that you also have to build up your body immunity with supplement and food, as once you got infected before your body immunity is damaged. 
 

So you think about it and maybe your life-long hands buddies are the best choice or buy sex dolls or tenga to ease your sexual needs.

I think the writer brought up a valid point.  The frequency of the health screening was meant to lower down the risk of HIV transmission.  

 

So technically, having protected sex with a screened prostitute might be safer having raw sex with your wife/bf, esp since you don't know when was the last time she/he cheated on you. 

 

One final simple question - you think your wife/bf had more std screenings or the prostitute?
