Chris Low Posted October 19, 2021 Report Share Posted October 19, 2021 PATCH YOUR PC. there is no need to update to win 11. but your win10 should be patched. if you are using windows 7 is already end of life. Patch your phones too. and router firmware. a) windows update is not for fun. its there to provide security updates. an unpatch windows (or any operating system, not just windows). is a security vulnerability. b) if for whatever reason you cannot patch cos (too long ago). i suggest you reset your pc. (first backup your documents and files first : eg: to onedrive/google drive.) normally a pc reset is a easy thing to do. then I just reinstall any software I need to reinstall using eg: patchmypc.com which is pretty much one click install https://us-cert.cisa.gov/ncas/alerts/2021 eg: you hear of ransomware attacks of the colonial gas pipeline etc. all these because people don't patch. when a patch is released, it also means the exploit is also released any script kiddy can then assemble an attack to take you down. locally eg: https://www.straitstimes.com/tech/tech-news/hackers-pose-as-bank-customers-to-make-500k-in-fake-credit-card-payments-by-stealing some of these are sms diversion attacks ,. but others is stealing your credentials via keyloggers AND then performing the sms diversion.
