I think I have Temporomandibular Joint disorder

At first I thought I have some sort of jaw pain on my left side. It was so painful when I tried to open mouth wide when yawning or eating. I cannot chew properly my food because so painful. Then I thought of maybe toothache. But it really feel different from toothache. Was so busy and think of it or maybe it will get better after few days.

Eventhough now not so superpainful but still painful when yawning and eating or when try to bite my teeth to see if there is still pain. And sometimes also headache. The point near my ear when I pressed also painful. Then I remembered I typed on gpt chat why my jaw is painful after waking up and saw the TMJ being listed of one of the factors.

Anyone of you got TMJ? I googled on forum and saw people said dont go for surgery cause it will make it worse. Doc usually gives painkiller until the pain go away.

You should not google a forum to find out,  but the Internet.  Google "Temporomandibular Joint disorder"  and you get plenty of information from major health centers.  For example,  from the Cleveland Clinic:

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15066-temporomandibular-disorders-tmd-overview

There you get the symptoms, to help you identify it,  and the possible remedies.  Indeed, surgery is not recommended unless everything else fails.

There are many factors:  are you a senior who starts getting arthritis?   Do you grind your teeth?  Are you full of stress?   Start doing the self-help practices recommended by the experts.  And in general, optimize your nutrition to avoid inflamation, which screws up many parts of our body.

And by the way,  if the condition is getting better and you find something additional to improve it,  be patient and see if it goes away by itself before going to a doctor, a dentist,  unless you are a rich person who does not want to deal with it but prefers to be "treated"  ( $$$ ).

It is inflammation.  Take panadol if still painful and it will go away in no time.  Drink water, no snacking on heaty foods and stop eating excessively especially sweet stuff.    In the good old days, your mom would use a blue ink and paint it on your sore cheek to scare the demon away.

1. You need to find a dentist to confirm whether it is TMD first.

2. I have a close friend who has TMD.

His dentist says TMD effects about 10% of males in Singapore.

3. He had to wear a Night Dental Guard (Google for it)  and the issue was largely alleviated.

4. Some doctors he found relief with:

- A/P Adrian Yap, Ng Teng Fong Hospital is an authority of TMD in Singapore.

His appointment wait-time is in months.

- Dr Eric Chionh is into Dental Pain management, he can help you diagnose whether the pain is TMD.

5. I am NOT medical / dental trained, just repeating what a close friend shared with me.

So please consult a dental personnel.

PS: This is NOT recommendation but sharing what my friend did and found useful.

Usually I google reddit to see what other people has experienced and what they did to cure their disorder.

I found the cause to my ezcema last time through forum also. Dairy product. My ezcema return back after eating too much cowhead cheese with bread. Although I only eat 2 pcs per day with bread for a short period of time.

I did not grind my teeth nor has arthritis.

But I remember I put some tea tree oil on my left neck and a bit on my left face when I felt some rough skins on my neck. Like many many small bumps. Now its gone already. I think that my left jaw started to feel pain around the same time. Not sure related or not?

I did not realise how pain is it until I ate the mc-chicken burger just now that I found leftover in my fridge. I cannot open or painful to open my mouth wide enough to bite the burger. Just now dinner was having potatoes porridge with dish, did not feel that painful. Partial chew partial swallow.

I think I need to see doctor soon after tomorrow.

I think I drink too many gases drink leftover from the CNY. I just pop 2 panadol as I am typing here. Not sure is it related to the numerous small bumps on my left neck before they faded away after I applied the tea tree oil.

Thank you thank you. Will visit a gp first to get a reference letter in order to claim insurance. They sound very expensive.

Its true I need to find out whether I'm having TMD cause now I'm only self diagnosing. Only guessing. But feel like at least 80% accurate.

When getting old every little thing coming to visit.
