Singroc
Hi Anyone here use resistance band to workout and build muscles? Would like to know your experience, pros and cons and how much have you achieve. I have started using this and hope we could share our experience and knowledge. Balestier
Lots of videos on YouTube. I use it for stretching and muscle strengthening especially the smaller groups eg rotator cuffs
Singroc
Yes, I have been watching YouTube as guidance. But just want to know from members here their experience and achievement using resistance bands as opposed to free weights. And it’s not just the small muscle group but bigger ones like the leg and chest. Weights are not really suitable for me due to my condition and hence more prone to injuries. I have seen ppl using bands to strength itb. Chest ? Rather pushup or chest press on trx
Singroc
What’s itb? What’s trx? Without the need to go to the gym and using equipment, I guess resistance band seems to be the best option. Just to share, below is a video on training chest using resistance band
radiusulnar
the only question is whether the resistance band will be sufficiently challenging in the long run. the person in the video is unlikely to have reached that level of development with just resistance bands. Singroc
This is something I need to know. Hence I am posting here to get feedback. Of course also dependent on the expectation. Are we training to become competitive bodybuilder or just to add some muscles and becoming fitter. Resistance band comes in many levels of difficulty. I gotten quite a few ranging from 15kg, 25kg, 35kg, 45kg, etc. You can also mix and match more than one band to get the degree of difficulty you need. Or positioning yourself (like pulling the band further) to get the level of tightness and difficulty. Balestier
But u can't have full range of motion with resistance band. It's good for travelling but I would think working w other type equipment is better. Importantly are u comfortable with it ? Any form of strength training is better than nothing
Singroc
Can elaborate what you mean by full range of motion? Yes I am more comfortable with resistance band because 1) Don’t need to go to the gym to use the equipment. 2) Less prone to injuries. Just Google https://study.com/learn/lesson/range-of-motion-types-test.html#:~:text=Range of motion (ROM) is the measurement of movement around, possible during a given exercise.
