I went on Sat. Feel a bit sad about the general crowd around me (especially the girls) When A-mei talk about the Rainbow song and shows respect to Gay love, all the girls stopped clapping and screaming (not even singing)... seems the understanding is still not very good among the general straight ppl. But kudos to the ajs... there is one raising the rainbow flag!!! Bravo!

Gays have been stereotyped to be more caring, more understanding and more good-looking than the straight guys. So, do put yourself in their high heel shoes and perhaps you will see that the girls do have valid reasons not to be so cheerful at the mention of AJs. :)

My bf and I attended the concert on Friday. So, many gay couples and everyone was looking and smiling at one another. My seating section has at least 6 gay couples  . When Amei mentioned the song Rainbow to delicate to tongzhi, the audience cheered out loud. I personally enjoyed the show and also watching the loving gay couples.

Just got back from the concert. As expected, it was yet another fabulous A*mei concert, notwithstanding her weight gain mentioned in previous posts. I don't know of any other concert in Singapore that has a similar atmosphere. Towards the end, the crowd was just wild beyond words.

But of all the many highlights, the 彩虹 performance left the deepest impression. For those who're familiar with the lyrics, it's clearly one that's dedicated to the gay community. But A*mei took a slightly different twist this time. She said the song was about all kinds of love, be it same sex, opposite sex, friends or whatever. So she asked the audience to openly express their love for each other during the song if the camera focused on them. The camera closed up on many different couples. Almost every couple spontaneously gave each other a big kiss, many on the lips. Indeed, there were straight couples, gay couples, lesbian couples, older couples etc. And the expression of love was the same.

The sucker in me teared a little during that song. If A*mei had stuck to this being a song to only the gay community, it would have alienated a lot of people. But by doing what she did, it created a bigger impact, because it demonstrated precisely the fact that love between two men is really no different from love between a man and a woman. We see this on TV all the time, but this was completely real and spontaneous.

Thank you to those guys who so bravely, generously and spontaneously demonstrated their love for each other in public so openly. While I doubt the two old couples would be reading this, I thought their expressions of love were the sweetest. And of course, thanks to A*mei for using her status and influence to advocate love that transcends all boundaries.

:)

It's really Ameizing to see rainbow flag flying in the stadium. I love the segment where she sang songs about love -- Love of no boundary. All audiences are cheering when couples kissed infront of candid camera. It has turned beautifully into a Mardi Gras.
